2025 Bentonville Film Festival to Open with Kate Beecroft's Sundance Hit ‘East of Wall'
The BFFoundation (BFF), in collaboration with founding partner Walmart and presenting partner Coca-Cola, has today announced the full lineup for the 2025 Bentonville Film Festival (BFF), launching next month. As ever, the festival remains committed to building a slate around inclusion and authentic representation. This year's festival will showcase 28 feature competition films, including 9 world premieres, plus the newly-launched Homegrown Competition highlighting powerful stories from filmmakers based in or filming in Arkansas. Of this year's competition slate, 66 percent of the films are from creators identifying as female or gender non-conforming; 51 percent identify as BIPOC, Asian, or Pacific Islander; 29 percent identify as LGBTQIA+; 18 percent are filmmakers over the age of 50; and 12 percent identify as a person with a disability. More from IndieWire 'Left-Handed Girl' Review: Sean Baker Edits and Co-Writes 'Tangerine' Producer Shih-Ching Tsou's Kaleidoscopic Solo Directing Debut Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck to Adapt Upcoming Taylor Jenkins Reid Novel for Laika's Live-Action Division The festival, which was founded by Geena Davis and backed by Wal-Mart, celebrated its tenth anniversary last year, a period that's been marked by profound growth, both for the festival and the charming Arkansas town it calls its home. This year's festival will roll out June 16 – 22. The festival will open with Kate Beecroft's Sundance hit 'East of Wall,' which was 'inspired by the real lives of Tabatha and Porshia Zimiga, and with a cast of predominantly non-professional actors playing themselves.' Beecroft and the Zimigas will be in attendance for a moderated conversation to follow the film. Sony Pictures Classics will release the film later this summer. Other standouts in the lineup include the Danielle Deadwyler-starring '40 Acres,' Katie Aselton's 'Magic Hour,' Courtney Stephens and Callie Hernandez's 'Invention,' and Kim A. Snyder's timely documentary 'The Librarians.' 'Our film selections, thoughtfully curated by Artistic Director Drea Clark, embody the spirit and mission of the Bentonville Film Festival,' said Wendy Guerrero in an official statement. 'What connects them is a shared strength: the ability to tell stories that resonate deeply and meaningfully.' Additionally, the festival will honor Lucy Liu with the Rising to the Challenge Award at BFF's annual Festival Award Ceremony on Saturday, June 21. The award 'recognizes artists who champion storytelling that breaks barriers and broadens representation.' Liu will also attend the screening of her latest film, 'Rosemead,' which she stars in and produced. And, on Tuesday, June 17, beloved weather anchor and producer Al Roker will join the festival for sneak peek and discussion of his new animated series, 'Weather Hunters.' Created by Al Roker Entertainment, the show 'blends education and entertainment, helping kids understand the science of weather through fun, accessible storytelling.' Walmart Is Selling $55 Crocs Clogs for Only $26: 'We Always Buy Crocs for the Summer'
The Arena Media Brands, LLC and respective content providers may receive compensation for some links to products and services on this website. Walmart Is Selling $55 Crocs Clogs for Only $26: 'We Always Buy Crocs for the Summer' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Summertime means it's Crocs season, and right now is a great time to grab a new pair of the popular waterproof shoes. Walmart is selling Crocs Unisex Crocband Clog Sandals for only $26 right now. The list price of the shoes is $55, so buyers are saving 52%. There are several colors from which to choose at this low price, and available sizes range from men's four to 13 and women's five to 14. Crocs says, "The Crocband Collection features the original Croslite foam construction for all-day comfort, a sporty design that's easy to step in and out of, and a variety of energy-boosting colors and graphic designs. Show your stripes! Retro sneakers have long been associated with movements around expression, independence, and liberation. The Crocband takes Crocs ' iconic expression and infuses the youthful and optimistic spirit captured in these retro sneakers. A fun and colorful collage of retro and new pop culture that goes perfectly with any casual outfit." Buyers have rated these Crocs clogs 4.5 stars out of five. "We always buy Crocs for the summer," says a reviewer. "Comfortable and practical. These are really cute. I am traveling to Japan this summer, and Crocs were recommended because they are easy to put on and take off, and you can wear socks. There are many places in Japan where you are required to take your shoes off when entering. These are perfect," says another reviewer. "Now I get it! I never understood why a person would pay more for the name brand, but now I do. I've got lots of pairs of 'off-brand-holes-in-the-top shoes' and none of them come close to the quality of Crocs. I'm glad I bought them and will probably buy more," says a third. They're also available for sale at Amazon for the same price. Reviewers love Crocs. "My family has been using Crocs for years. They are extremely durable. We love the clog style and use them at home all the time, but our original purchase was for all of our camping endeavors. Crocs are so much easier to slip on for those late-night bathroom runs instead of having to tie a pair of gym shoes, and with their waterproof durability, they're better on the wet ground from morning dew or nighttime rain than flip flops. Crocs are now pretty much the only shoe my oldest child wears," says a reviewer. "Fabulous! I love these! These are true to size! They fit more snug at first, so look at the measurements. Overall, I recommend these for someone who doesn't understand why people buy/wear Crocs aside from them being water-friendly. These are great starters because they look nothing like Crocs and yet give you that Crocs feeling!" says another. Walmart offers free shipping on orders of $35 or more. Walmart+ members get free shipping with no minimum order. This item qualifies for free 90-day returns. Miley Cyrus was fired from Adam Sandler's ‘Hotel Transylvania' for a wild reason
Miley Cyrus hasn't forgotten about the penis cake that cost her a job. While appearing on Monica Lewinsky's podcast this week, the 32-year-old singer spoke about being fired from the 'Hotel Transylvania' franchise when she was 18 after a photo emerged of her with a penis cake for her then-boyfriend and now-ex-husband Liam Hemsworth's birthday. 12 Miley Cyrus at the Chateau Marmont on May 27, 2025 in Los Angeles. 'I was the lead actress in 'Hotel Transylvania' and they fired me and replaced me because I had made an inappropriate adult joke. But I was 18.' 'So yes I was fine to work in a kids movie, but I'm not a kid,' Cyrus added. 12 Miley Cyrus on Monica Lewinsky's podcast. Charles Sykes/Invision/AP 'What felt ridiculous to me about getting fired for a penis cake was that they sell penis cakes for all bachelorettes,' Cyrus pointed out. 'In Nashville, Tennessee, you can get penis cakes. It's not that big of a deal.' 'So I thought this is a very simple, not vulgar joke. This is silly,' she continued. 'You can do this for all bachelorette parties. They make necklaces and cups and straws and all kinds of stuff. It felt ridiculous.' But at that time, I wasn't someone that was appropriate for kids, even though that was in my personal life.' The Grammy winner also noted that the photo leaked because her backpack and her camera were stolen at a party. '[It was] nothing I posted,' she said. 'At the time, I remember I jumped in the pool and said, 'I'm not gonna come up until you guys get me my job back,'' she recalled. 'It was really upsetting me. I was with my lawyer and my manager at the time and they were freaking out because they didn't realize how much it was hurting me until that moment when they realized I had said what I said.' The 'Flowers' singer added that she started seeing a therapist that same year who helped her 'work through' moments like the penis cake controversy. 12 Miley Cyrus at the 'Something Beautiful' premiere during the 2025 Tribeca Festival in NYC on June 6. When asked if she thinks a similar situation could happen today, Cyrus responded, 'I don't know if we put our Disney kids on the pedestal the way that we used to, our teen stars But I think that still movies can have consequences for their lead actor or actress doing things that don't align with the audience that the movie is made for.' 12 Miley Cyrus attends Through Her Lens: The Tribeca Chanel Women's Filmmaker Program in NYC on June 6.
