Barnama4 days ago
ISTANBUL, July 16 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Syria called on the residents of Suwayda on Wednesday to comply with the curfew imposed since Tuesday, following renewed attacks by "outlaw groups" on the army and internal security forces, violating a ceasefire deal reached in the city, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported, citing local media.
"After a ceasefire agreement was concluded with the notables and elders of Suwayda city on Monday, lawless groups resumed attacking the army and internal security forces within the city. We have previously confirmed the army's right to respond to sources of fire,' the Defence Ministry said in a statement, reported by the Syrian state news agency SANA.
"The army continues to respond to sources of fire inside Suwayda city, while observing the rules of engagement to protect civilians, prevent harm, and ensure a safe return for those who left the city to their homes,' the ministry added.
