Rico Bogen hoping momentum can lead to back-to-back T100 victories

Rico Bogen hopes the momentum from his first T100 World Triathlon Tour victory can carry him to the top of the podium again in Vancouver.
Bogen claimed his maiden T100 victory with a dominant performance in San Francisco in May, lifting him to the top of the overall standings after two races.
The German now hopes that having earned a first race win, he can repeat the feat on a new course for all athletes in Canada just two weeks after the San Francisco leg.
'I have the momentum on my side but it's a new day and a strong field,' he said. 'Let's see how the others are in the race and if I can perform like I did in San Francisco.
'It's hard to do it back-to-back, and it's such a strong field. I am in a good mood and want to have fun out there.
'It gave me confidence, now I know I can win a race like the T100 with such a strong field. You are always a little bit nervous for the race, but this gave me confidence that with a good training block I can beat everybody.
'It would be very cool to win back-to-back races, and it would be very good for the overall series.'

The T100 arrives in Vancouver for the third stop of a world tour that will culminate in a final in Qatar in December.
Bogen finished 10th on the first stop in Singapore before rocketing up the rankings with victory in San Francisco, but knows another good result is required in Vancouver ahead of the tour's European legs in France and the UK.
The race in Vancouver is the first time the T100 has taken place in the Canadian city, and Bogen hopes his time reconnecting with nature can help him to another strong result.
'The course is very similar to San Francisco so we didn't change too much in training,' he said. We came straight from San Francisco, it's important to be able to fully reset and train.
'It's my first time here in Canada. Last week I travelled in a camper with my parents. We visited a bit of nature, it's beautiful. I love nature and I love a little bit more silence
'It's such a cool city. It's perfect conditions for triathlon. The bike course looks cool, a bit of technical stuff and a bit of hills.'

Paddy Power offer: Get 40/1 odds on a goal to be scored in Aston Villa vs Newcastle

Use code YFBDCX when signing up to this Paddy Power offer to get 40/1 odds on Aston Villa's Premier League opener with Newcastle The new Premier League campaign gets underway in Birmingham on Saturday, with Aston Villa and Newcastle United meeting in a contest that has often delivered high tempo football and a steady stream of chances. Both clubs have European ambitions and squads built to attack, which should make the opening weekend feel anything but cagey. Paddy Power have priced an opening-night special for new customers: get 40/1 on at least one goal being scored in Aston Villa vs Newcastle. Place a maximum £1 qualifying bet on over 0.5 goals and, if the match sees a single strike from either side, your winnings are paid out in free bets at the enhanced price. It is a straightforward way to add a little extra edge to the viewing without needing a high-scoring game. Recent meetings have tended to open up. The last seven clashes between these teams each cleared the over 2.5 goals line, a trend that reflects how both sides commit numbers forward and look to force errors in the middle third. Villa Park often crackles on big occasions, and Newcastle's direct runners rarely pass up a chance to break at speed, so one moment of quality might be all it takes to land the special. How Dundee United squad rallied round penalty fall guy Amar Fatah as Max Watters eyes Premier Sports Cup bounce back

The Tangerines suffered a heartbreaking Conference League exit on Thursday night Max Watters has warned there can be no European hangover and Dundee United need to be up for the cup at Kilmarnock. ‌ United faced the heartbreak of going out of the Conference League on penalties to Rapid on Thursday night. ‌ The striker, who netted twice in Thursday's 2-2 draw against the Austrians, reckons United can take pride from their European push. ‌ Watters believes it shows his team's potential but now it is about showing it again when they travel to Killie in the Premier Sports Cup. He said: 'Well, we go back to work, we'll concentrate on Sunday's game and just try and pick ourselves up and brush it off. 'Yes, it's tough, but that's just the way football is so we have to get on with it. '(I am) Disappointed but the thing with football over here, you've got to get on with it because we've got another game Sunday, which is just as important. 'So we've got to forget about it and move on. We've gone two games against a really good (Rapid) team. 'We managed to get a draw away against their really good fans, which was intimidating at times. ‌ 'But to come here and go 2-0 up just shows what ability we've got and how good the group is that we've got.' Amir Fatah was the Dundee United fall guy as he missed the only penalty in the shoot-out. The on-loan Troyes winger, though, has the full backing of his Tannadice teammates and has been tipped to bounce back and have a big season in Scotland. Watters insisted: 'Yes, it's not good when missing a penalty, but all the boys, it's a great team so all the boys were around him and supporting him. ‌ "It's part of football. Someone's going to miss. Unfortunately, it had to be him today and unfortunately it had to be Dundee United but he'll be alright. "He's got enough people around him to help him get through it.' ‌ United more than matched an Austrian side who spent millions on their team this season. Jim Goodwin's side haven't cost a penny yet although nominal fees are to be paid down the line for Zac Sapsford and Dario Namoo. They have since added Luca Stephenson and Julius Eskesen for the trip to Ayrshire. Watters acknowledged: 'Europe's gone, but I think everyone can see the potential this club's got with the players coming in and the players coming back from injury and the players we've got on the pitch already. "It's really good to see. ‌ 'Yes, they've (Rapid) spent a lot of money, they've brought some good players in, but for us to go and do that in the first half, the whole game really, even in the last 30 minutes of extra time, when the younger players came on and showed what they were about and popped the ball around them, you can see their fans and their players were scared because we were so good at times. 'We carved them open, we created some good chances, so it's really good to see what we're going to be like coming up when we get players back in. 'We've obviously signed two more players the other day, so it's really exciting.' ‌ The 26-year-old is on loan from Barnsley and is United's main man, having scored four goals in his last three outings and has already become a fans' favourite. He admitted: 'Yes, it's a really good start for me personally. 'I've got a few goals under my name now so I've got to push on and try to get some more and help the team, hopefully get a win on Sunday. 'Yes, before I played in this league, I spoke to people who have played in it and they said one thing is the fans are amazing, they love their football and they're really committed to supporting their team. 'Coming here, it just shows how good they are. I was really, really pleased with how good they were today.' United have a number of long-term injuries and Sapsford is likely to miss out after limping off against Rapid.

Ronnie O'Sullivan nets £147k bonus with TWO maximum breaks in same match

Ronnie O'Sullivan took on Chris Wakelin in the semi-finals of the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters in Jeddah and lit up the match with a pair of maximum breaks en route to the final Ronnie O'Sullivan rolled back the years with a thrilling 147 break at the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters to cost rival Thepchaiya Un-Nooh a tidy sum in bonuses. Not content with that, though, he added a second maximum in the very same match. ‌ The tournament awards a £50,000 prize for a maximum break. Thailand's Uh-Nooh had been due to scoop the lot before The Rocket intervened, but O'Sullivan is now on track for two thirds of the prize. ‌ It doesn't end there, though. After doubling up during his victory over Chris Wakelin in Jeddah, O'Sullivan secured himself an additional £147,000 bonus to take his total pay packet up above £180,000. ‌ "You say the name and he is snooker," Steven Hallworth said during TNT Sports' coverage of the tournament. "This is why we love him. What a player. O'Sullivan ended up beating Wakelin 6-3 to book his place in the final. His opponent their will be Neil Robertson, who earned a 6-3 victory of his own against Elliot Slessor. It was the first time O'Sullivan scored a competitive 147 since 2018, when he did so at the English Open. He set a new record as the oldest player to hit a maximum when he did so early on against Wakelin... and then broke his own record by a few minutes. The £147,000 bonus is a new addition for the 2025-26 season, with players scooping the sum if they make two maximums across the 2025 UK Championship, the 2026 Masters and the 2026 World Snooker Championship. However, O'Sullivan needed just one tournament to claim the prize. Previously, he has queried small prizes being handed out for maximum breaks. That clearly wasn't a concern in Saudi Arabia, with a six-figure sum coming his way after he got that second 147 in the bag. ‌ "I knew it was £10,000. I could have done it, but I didn't think the prize was worthy of a 147. So I've tried to let it build up until it's worthy and then go for it," O'Sullivan said back in 2016 after learning he could only net £12,000 for hitting 147 at the Welsh Open. "It's like going into a Mercedes garage and when they say that you can have the car for £3,000, you reply, 'No way, that's too cheap. I'm not buying it for that'." ‌ O'Sullivan and Robertson will both have a chance to add to their financial rewards on Saturday. The winner of the final will land a huge £500,000 payout, with £200,000 going to the runner-up. "To get to the final is huge in terms of ranking points, it means I should be in all of the big events later in the season which makes my scheduling so much easier. "I took that for granted a few years ago when I was always in the top four. The standard is so high now that I have realised you have to keep your foot down all the time. A lot of hard work has happened to get these kind of results."
