It's easy to reminisce on what could have been with Justin Fields or Russell Wilson — but the most intriguing question heading into the 2025 season is: who will find more post-Steelers success?
Fields will reunite with his former college teammate WR Garrett Wilson, but the Jets suffer from a similar issue the Steelers know all too well — a lack of receiver talent outside of WR1. Besides Wilson, Allen Lazard and Josh Reynolds are the top receiving threats on offense, hardly a recipe for success for a young QB moving to his third NFL team in three years.
Wilson doesn't have this issue in the slightest, as while he needs to hold off former Browns QB Jameis Winston and Giants first-round pick QB Jaxson Dart for the starting job, he has a plethora of talented pass catchers to work with — such as Malik Nabers, Wan'Dale Robinson, and Darius Slayton.
At tight end, Wilson and Fields benefit equally — as both Giants TE Theo Johnson and Jets rookie TE Mason Taylor equally possess raw talent but are unproven.
Both the Jets' and Giants' running back rooms may also have a similar impact on the two QBs' success — as the gap between Jets RB Breece Hall and Giants second-year RB Tyrone Tracy is closer than many realize.
Ultimately, while Wilson may have the edge at wide receiver, the Jets have a better offensive line in play for Fields. The Giants' O-line was responsible for the second-highest pressure rate in the NFL — which won't do the less-mobile 36-year-old Wilson any favors.
Wilson may have an edge when it comes to playing on a more complete offense, but Fields, a more athletic signal-caller, could find tremendous success under HC Aaron Glenn. Who do you think will have more success after their Steel City exit?

I can't foresee him remaining on this roster because I believe in my heart that Shedeur Sanders is a better quarterback," he said. "He was a better quarterback in college, and I think that he'll have a better showing when the preseason presents itself." Gabriel being traded would be a surprise simply due to the fact that Cleveland spent a third-round pick on him in the 2025 NFL Draft. When that move was made, the rest of the NFL was extremely surprised to see him go so early. Many thought he would be a sixth-round pick. Should this prediction become a reality, the Browns would be left with Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Shedeur Sanders as their rotation of quarterbacks. Deshaun Watson would also be on the roster, but he isn't expected to play in 2025. Quite a few teams around the league would likely have interest in acquiring a young quarterback like Gabriel. Cleveland would be unlikely to recoup the third-round pick the front office spent on him, but they could get a later-round selection. No one knows what is going to happen with the competition during training camp and preseason action. Pickett is another popular name that has been suggested as a trade candidate. Some have named Sanders as a trade candidate, but that seems very unlikely. Flacco is a veteran the Browns seem to want in their quarterback room. Only time will tell, but this is a situation to keep a close eye on. Gabriel might be able to prove this prediction to be incorrect, but he has his work cut out for him.
