Blackpink lands atop Spotify's daily songs chart
It is the third time the foursome has been seated atop the singles chart, after 'Pink Venom' and 'Shut Down,' and makes it the first K-pop group to have three chart-toppers. 'Pink Venom' was the first track to be released from its second full album, 'Born Pink,' which came out in 2022, fronted by 'Shut Down.'
The group dropped 'Jump' as a digital single last week, after unveiling it first at its concert in Korea the previous week, where the group hailed its return as a quartet. It was streamed over 13 million times on Spotify and topped the iTunes Top Songs Chart in 60 regions.
Over the weekend, the four members had their first shows in North America for new world tour 'Deadline.' The two nights at SoFi Stadium drew 100,000 people, a record for a female K-pop band.

Blackpink makes history as first K-pop group to top Spotify's global weekly chart twice
New single 'Jump' earns biggest streaming debut of 2025, proving group's global dominance Blackpink has made K-pop history once again, becoming the first K-pop group to top Spotify's Global Weekly Top Songs chart twice, with their latest single "Jump" reinforcing the quartet's status as a global pop powerhouse. According to YG Entertainment on Saturday, 'Jump' reached No. 1 on the global weekly chart dated Thursday, following their previous chart-topper 'Shut Down' from their 2022 studio album 'Born Pink.' Blackpink now holds the record for both the first and the most No. 1 entries on the chart by any K-pop group. The song's streaming performance was equally notable. 'Jump' garnered 44,759,923 streams in just one week — the biggest debut for any track released in 2025 so far. A week earlier, the group set a new milestone by becoming the K-pop act with the most No. 1 songs on the chart, holding the top position for six consecutive days. Blackpink's success is not limited to Spotify. On the UK Official Singles Chart released Friday, 'Jump' debuted at No. 18 — the group's highest ranking to date and their ninth overall appearance on the chart. The song's music video, released on July 11, also made a powerful impact online. It was the most-viewed YouTube video worldwide within 24 hours of release and has topped YouTube's Global Daily Top Music Videos chart for seven consecutive days. Meanwhile, Blackpink is currently on their 'Blackpink World Tour,' which spans 16 cities and 31 shows. After opening in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, and performing in Los Angeles, the group is set to take the stage in stadiums across Chicago, Toronto, New York, Paris, Milan, Barcelona, London, Kaohsiung, Bangkok, Jakarta, Bulacan, Singapore, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

YG head Yang Hyun-suk gets 6-month suspended sentence for coercion
Supreme Court finalized verdict against Yang over cover-up in singer B.I's drug case Yang Hyun-suk, executive producer of YG Entertainment, was sentenced by the Supreme Court on Friday to six months in prison, suspended for one year, for attempting to cover up singer B.I's drug case. Yang was convicted of coercing former K-pop trainee Han Seo-hee in August 2016, demanding she retract her statement regarding B.I's drug use. At the time, Han was under police investigation for drug use and had initially implicated B.I, then a member of the YG boy band iKON, in drug-related activities. She later reversed her statement but reported in 2019 to the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission that she had been pressured to take her statement back. The district court initially acquitted Yang, ruling there was no significant evidence showing Yang had made direct and specific threats to Han. Prosecutors appealed, adding a charge during the second trial that Yang coerced Han into a meeting. The crime of coercing someone into a meeting applies when a person exerts pressure on the victim of a crime, the victim's acquaintances or someone who intends to file a complaint or accusation. The appeals court upheld Yang's acquittal on the charge of making threats but found him guilty of coercing a meeting, stating that 'he exercised unjust influence over the victim without rightful cause.' Following the ruling, Yang released a statement saying, 'Though I regret the Supreme Court's decision, I humbly accept it,' and added, 'I will devote myself more responsibly and carefully to my work going forward.' When the drug case surfaced in 2019, B.I left iKON. He later admitted during the police investigation to smoking marijuana and purchasing LSD. In September 2021, he received a sentence of three years in prison, suspended for four years. He is currently active as a solo artist.
