Fendi Store in Sydney targeted in brazen ram raid

Daily Mail4 days ago
A gang of thieves is on the run after a dramatic ram-raid on the Fendi store at the corner of Elizabeth and Market Streets in Sydney 's CBD early this morning.
Just before 3.45am, a stolen SUV was driven into the front window of the luxury boutique, shattering glass and triggering alarms. The offenders quickly looted the store, making off with a haul of high-end handbags believed to be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The SUV, which had been reported stolen from Waterloo on Tuesday, was abandoned at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing the group flee in two other vehicles - a white BMW wagon (NSW registration NCA59A) and a grey Audi S3 (NSW registration DMR81V) - both of which were stolen during a break-in at a home in Kingsford overnight.
Police have established a crime scene and are combing through CCTV footage and forensic evidence. Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command remain at the site, with the store's interior showing extensive damage and empty shelves where luxury goods once sat.

Masked rioters attack highway and clash with police in Limoges, France

Dozens of masked assailants wielding metal bars, mortars and molotov cocktails attacked cars on a highway and clashed with police early on Saturday in the city of Limoges in central France, officials said. The overnight clashes left nine police wounded, according to authorities, who said they suspected a gang turf war. The unrest came in the middle of France's summer tourism season. The armed attackers descended on the RN141 throughway and tried to block it during a battle with police, according to officials. 'There were between 100 and 150 masked individuals, armed with molotov cocktails, fireworks, stones, iron bars and baseball bats,' local police union leader Laurent Nadeau told AFP. Police responded with teargas and crowd-control munitions. Mayor Émile-Roger Lombertie called the rioters an 'urban guerrilla group'. 'They're organised, structured, there's a plan, weapons,' he said. 'This was not a spontaneous protest to complain about something. No pretext, nothing. It's about destroying things and showing the territory belongs to you.' Prosecutors said vehicles, some with families and children, were attacked but there were no immediate reports of wounded drivers. 'None of the motorists were physically assaulted. However, several are particularly shocked,' prosecutors said in a statement. Unrest had erupted nearby, in Val de l'Aurence, on the night of 14 July, France's national day. Lombertie said this 'very poor neighbourhood, with young people from immigrant backgrounds' had become a 'lawless zone'. The Limoges prosecutor, Émilie Abrantes, said that although the neighbourhood was 'known' for drug trafficking, there was no evidence linking the unrest to recent investigations into drug trafficking. France's interior ministry announced on Saturday plans to deploy a special security force to the city.

Hols hotspot airport employee arrested for stealing luxury watch and diamond bracelet worth £18,000 from tourist's bag

AN AIRPORT employee at a holiday hotspot was arrested for stealing a luxury watch and diamond bracelet worth £18,000 from a tourist's bag. Spanish police at Palma airport arrested the staff member after he attempted to rob the unsuspecting tourist who was just about to travel back home. 3 3 The high-end watch and bracelet were taken after the visitor left his bag unattended at the airport. The shocking ordeal unfolded in the capital of the Spanish holiday hotspot island Majorca, Spain. He mistakenly left his bag alone when returning a rental vehicle at one of the booths inside the airport. The backpack contained the luxury jewellery worth tens of thousands of pounds as well as other personal possessions. After realising he had left his bag behind, the backpacker immediately rushed back to pick up his belongings. To his horror, he realised his expensive possessions were missing after checking inside the bag. He rushed to police and filed a report quickly. Son Sant Joan officers launched a probe into the alleged theft. And they discovered that one of the employees of the rental car cleaning company was the alleged thief. They then arrested him and later managed to return the stolen goods to their rightful owner. National Police took the opportunity to remind tourists that they should always be " attentive to the belongings we carry, especially in areas with large crowds or when accessing public transport or picking up or returning a vehicle in the parking lot". They also issued a stark warning to staff members at the airport in Palma, Spain. Cops said staff should always "hand over any belongings we find to the municipal services". If employees failed to do this they would face "criminal and disciplinary liability". They also said staff should always "issue a document justifying said delivery" of each lost and found item. This "makes it easier for the affected person to locate their belongings". In October of last year, a tourist who left his £50,000 Mercedes with airport meet and greet parking said his car disappeared when he came back from holiday. The holidaymaker was duped into giving an international crime gang the keys to his silver C220 AMG Mercedes at Manchester Airport. And in February, a former flight attendant put out a stark warning about in-flight thieves who book tickets just to nick luggage. Barbara Bacilleri, 31, shared sneaky tips for passengers who are keen to protect their luggage from onboard bandits. 3
