Jackson neighborhood "terrorized" after 100 rounds of ammo fired in mass shootout, chief says
"(It's) typically a very quiet neighborhood, a very beautiful neighborhood and good people in that neighborhood. But they were terrorized yesterday by a large shooting incident, active shooting situation, mass shooting situation, a horrific situation for that community," Wade said during a livestream press conference on Thursday, July 10.
Wade said the shootout occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday and spanned several blocks from the 5200 block of Brookhollow Drive to Anvil Circle to Kingswood Circle. Wade said two groups of men were involved in the shootout.
According to Wade, multiple cars and homes were damaged by assault rifles and handguns. Wade said police recovered more than 100 shell casings in that area. "By the grace of God Almighty," Wade said, no injuries were reported.
The exchange was caught on a family's surveillance cameras, Wade said, adding it took about four hours for police to process the crime scene.
"They faced something that no other citizen or community should ever face, where individuals — knuckleheads, lawless, reckless individuals — are out here shooting at each other, running from street to street actively (and) aggressively trying to gun each other down," Wade said. "They didn't hit each other and thank God they did not hit some innocent person who had nothing to do with their foolishness and chaos."
Wade said Linden Ford, 18, was arrested and charged with one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling in connection to the case. Tow firearms were recovered from his residence.

Officers are also searching for at least four persons of interest in the case. The suspects are believed to be older teenagers or men in their early 20s. As of 2 p.m. Thursday, police issued a warrant for 20-year-old Quinmarion Crisler.
Wade said investigators believe the shootout occurred due to an ongoing issue that could be drug related.
Wade said there will be an increased police presence in the neighborhood "to make sure it doesn't happen again in that neighborhood or anywhere else."

Body of 9-Year-Old Girl Reported Missing Is Found in Northern New York
The authorities on Sunday found the body of a 9-year-old girl who had been reported as missing and possibly abducted in a Northern New York community. The girl, Melina Galanis Frattolin, of Canada, was found dead in Ticonderoga, N.Y., the New York State Police said in a statement. The authorities did not elaborate on a cause of death or where specifically she was found in Ticonderoga, which is in Essex County, N.Y., and about 100 miles north of Albany. In a statement on Sunday, the State Police said there was 'no indication that an abduction occurred, and there is no threat to the public.' The State Police said that the Warren County Sheriff's Office had received a call from a man, later identified as Luciano Frattolin, 45, of Canada, who reported his daughter missing 'with a possible abduction' near Exit 22 of Interstate 87 in Lake George, N.Y., around 10 p.m. on Saturday. The State Police issued an Amber Alert, a bulletin for a missing or endangered child, and warned that 'the child was taken under circumstances that lead police to believe that they are in imminent danger of serious bodily harm and/or death.' The State Police said on Sunday that, as the investigation progressed, they came to believe that the initial account of a possible abduction had been incorrect. Lake George, a popular summertime tourist destination, is in the state's Adirondack region of mountains and forests, about 200 miles north of New York City. The girl's body was found about 38 miles north of where she was reported missing. Efforts to reach the Essex County district attorney, the Warren County Sheriff's Office, State Police and Ticonderoga police were unsuccessful. Mr. Frattolin could not be reached. Additional details were not immediately available on Sunday. The State Police said it expects to have a briefing for the news media on Monday.

Pittsburgh man facing attempted homicide charge after allegedly beating 10-month-old boy
A man is accused of slamming a 10-month-old baby's head into a bedpost, injuring the child so badly that doctors had to remove part of his skull in an attempt to save his life. Police say the suspect is the boyfriend of the baby's mother. The man, Dominic Pinnick, is expected to be formally charged Sunday night, facing several charges, including criminal attempted homicide and three counts of aggravated assault. At last check, the baby was in critical condition, but Pinnick is accused of beating his girlfriend's 10-month-old so badly that, according to court documents, the baby is not expected to survive. A doctor told investigators that the baby's injuries were not consistent with a fall, but were consistent with abusive head trauma and violence. The baby has one large skull fracture and numerous retinal hemorrhages, which are consistent with violent shaking. The baby also appears to have multiple impact strikes to his chest and a possible arm fracture. On Friday, just after 4 p.m., Pittsburgh police responded to a house on Kedron Street in the city's Homewood neighborhood for a report of an "infant falling from a bed." The baby was rushed to UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh "unresponsive, not breathing on his own and experiencing multiple seizures," officials say. A doctor also told investigators the baby had multiple knots and bruising. His head injuries caused a brain bleed and swelling. The baby went into surgery to remove part of his skull because of brain swelling. In a police interview, Pinnick told investigators he was asked by the baby's parent to watch the child. Pinnick said he heard crying and went upstairs to console the child. He said when he went into the bedroom, the baby was on the floor on the side of the bed and wouldn't stop crying. He got frustrated and walked around the bedroom, and hit the child's head approximately three or four times on the wooden canopy bed posts in the bedroom. Pinnick said he "aggressively placed the child on the bed, aggressively rocked the baby, and that he grabbed the child and aggressively rubbed the back of the baby's head." Pinnick said when he put the baby on the bed, he also "struck his head on the headboard." When he saw the baby's limp body, he called 911 for help. KDKA-TV reached out to Pittsburgh police for an update on the baby's condition, but has not heard back.

Trump lashes out at Biden after illegal immigrant accused of shooting CBP officer in NYC
President Donald Trump lashed out at former President Joe Biden after an off-duty Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer was allegedly shot in the face by an illegal immigrant with a lengthy criminal rap sheet in New York City. "Last night, in New York City, an incredible CBP Officer was shot in the face by an Illegal Alien Monster freed into the Country under Joe Biden," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Sunday. "He was apprehended at the Border in April 2023 but, instead of being deported, was RELEASED." The suspect was identified by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as 21-year-old Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, a Dominican national. DHS confirmed that Nunez was arrested by Border Patrol near San Luis, Arizona, in April 2023, but was released into the U.S. by the Biden administration. The agency also told Fox News that Nunez has an active warrant for kidnapping in the state of Massachusetts, in addition to prior felony arrests. During a press conference on Sunday, NYC Mayor Eric Adams said Nunez had prior arrests for assault and violating an order of protection. Adams said Nunez also had an active bench warrant from the Bronx, was wanted for a robbery from last December and a stabbing from January. "The Democrats have flooded our Nation with Criminal Invaders, and now, they must all be thrown out or, in some cases, immediately prosecuted in that we cannot take a chance that they are able to come back," Trump added. "That's how evil and dangerous they are!" Authorities said Nunez rode up on a motorized scooter with another suspect and attempted to rob the CBP officer as he sat in Riverside Park on Saturday night. The officer, who has not yet been identified, pulled out a gun to defend himself. Police said the officer and Nunez were both shot multiple times. Nunez walked into an area hospital after the shooting, police said. The officer is expected to recover from his injuries. Trump added that the off-duty officer "bravely fought off his attacker, despite his wounds, demonstrating enormous Skill and Courage." Adams said Nunez was taken into custody. "He has inflicted violence in our city and once he is charged for last night's crimes, we will be able to add attempted murder to his rap sheet," Adams said. DHS has lodged a detainer against Nunez.
