The Gallantry awards were given to the personnel for displaying raw courage, unparalleled bravery and total disregard to personal safety in the line of duty, as per the ministry.
The bravery, which has been awarded, was displayed during various operations related to counter-terror/counter-insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir and North-East. 'Dreaded terrorists were neutralised & apprehended during these operations, and arms & ammunition were recovered,' it added.
The Indian Navy officers led anti-piracy operations, resulting in the surrender of pirates and the rescue of hostages, while also demonstrating bravery during fire-fighting operations on a burning oil tanker, the statement added.
The statement added that the awardees from the Indian Air Force showed utmost courage in life-threatening circumstances during rescue of aircraft while maneuvering away from civilian areas to avoid any loss of life/property.
The gallant act of CRPF officers were performed in various operations in areas affected by Left-Wing Extremism. Maoist insurgents were apprehended and weapons recovered, it added. (ANI)

New Delhi [India], August 20 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has criticised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for announcing the Indian squad for the Asia Cup Cricket 2025, which includes a clash against Pakistan, despite the neighbouring country withdrawing from the upcoming Hockey Asia Cup hosted in to her official X handle, Chaturvedi expressed her disapproval, saying,'While Pakistan Hockey team snubbed the Asia Cup Hockey matches hosted in India, our BCCI is super keen to keep the cricket match between the two going by announcing the India Team for Asia Cricket Cup. Can't imagine the betrayal the families of those who lost their loved ones in Pahalgam must feel." While Pakistan pulled out of the Hockey Asia Cup citing security concerns, the BCCI proceeded with finalising India's squad for the cricket tournament, which could see the arch-rivals face each other.'Why isn't Pakistan coming? Why are they not participating? This is not clear to us," Hockey India Secretary General and Asian Hockey Federation Vice President Bhola Nath Singh said.'If they are citing security concerns, I can confidently say that security and all the arrangements in India are much better than in Pakistan," he however, stressed that India's focus remains on successfully hosting the tournament and extending a warm welcome to all participating teams.'Who is coming and who is not coming, we don't care about that. New Delhi [India], August 20 (ANI): Indian shooter Anjum Moudgil praised the recently passed National Sports Governance and the National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill in the Parliament last week. The bill was introduced by Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to provide a robust legal framework for sports governance in India, promoting transparency, accountability, and athlete speaking to ANI, Moudgil said, 'I'm really happy with the national sports bill that has been recently passed because of the you know proper gender equality and also there were so many positive changes in terms of policies and how federations will be run, so I think it's a very positive change." The National Sports Governance Bill paves the way for a new standard of transparency, accountability, and ethical management in sports. The legislation sets clear expectations for National Sports Federations and the Indian Olympic Association, ensuring mechanisms for fair elections, financial openness, and inclusive it mandates athlete commissions, a strong voice for players in governing bodies, and at least thirty per cent women's representation to promote gender equality in sports administration. The clearance was given at a high-level meeting on Tuesday (August 19), paving the way for state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to expand production of the indigenous aircraft, ANI cited defence sources as saying. It marks the second major order for the fighter, following an earlier deal for 83 aircraft worth around Rs 48,000 crore. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Replacing ageing MiGs The new fleet is expected to help phase out India's ageing MiG-21 jets, which the government has decided to retire in the coming weeks. The defence ministry and air force command have fully backed the programme, which officials say will not only strengthen the IAF but also boost India's defence manufacturing ecosystem, creating business for hundreds of small and medium enterprises. HAL, long seen as the backbone of India's aerospace industry, has been central to Modi's efforts to revive indigenous fighter production. The prime minister himself flew a sortie in the trainer variant of the Tejas last year, the first time an Indian leader had flown in a combat aircraft. Indigenous content and future plans The LCA Mark 1A is equipped with upgraded avionics and radar compared with the first 40 Tejas aircraft supplied to the air force. Officials said the new batch will have more than 65% indigenous content. The latest order underscores India's ambitions for self-reliance in defence, with HAL expected to secure further contracts for more than 200 LCA Mark 2 jets and a similar number of the fifth-generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft. Former air chief marshal VR Chaudhari had first signalled the expansion of the Tejas programme in 2022 during a visit to Spain, calling the planned order a 'mega boost' to indigenous fighter manufacturing. The government has framed the Tejas programme as a symbol of its Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) initiative, and as a marker of India's push to emerge as an aerospace power.
