ST. BERNARD PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A New Orleans man accused of fleeing officers in an allegedly stolen vehicle has been arrested.
Around 8:40 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office deputies attempted to pull over a Nissan Sentra that had reportedly been stolen out of New Orleans, at the corner of St. Bernard Highway and Palmisano Boulevard in Chalmette.

The driver, 28-year-old Dandre Dales, reportedly did not stop and fled across parish lines into New Orleans. Deputies attempted to stop Dales by deploying spike strips.
The car chase ended after Dales crashed on the Claiborne Bridge.
That's when deputies said he got out the car, ran away and jumped into the Industrial Canal.
With assistance from multiple agencies, including NOPD, U.S. Coast Guard and New Orleans Harbor Police. Dales was recovered from the water and arrested.

During the investigation, deputies said they also found a gun that Dales allegedly threw from the vehicle.
He has since been booked on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and flight from an officer. Dales also has an outstanding warrant for unauthorized use of a movable vehicle out of Jefferson Parish.Threats against public officials persist in year after Trump assassination attempt

The Hawks have arrested three people in connection with the murder of a police officer who was shot dead outside his home in Vrygrond, Muizenberg, on 30 May. Sergeant Lulama Njobeni, 48, was stationed at the Wynberg police station at the time of his murder. Hawks spokesperson Warrant Officer Zinzi Hani said the three people, aged 19 to 25, were arrested on Monday after a multidisciplinary team followed up on information and traced them to Muizenberg. They are expected to make their first appearance in the Muizenberg Magistrate's Court on a murder charge on Wednesday, Hani said. Acting head of the Hawks in the Western Cape, Brigadier Mushavhaduvha Ramovha, praised the investigating team for following every lead. News24 previously reported that the Cape Town police officer's body was discovered at around 05:00 at his home on Thys Witbooi Road. At the time of the incident, he was in uniform and was en route to the Wynberg police station. His family members, who were inside the home, were unharmed. In the same month, a 31-year-old off-duty police officer was shot dead in her vehicle, close to a primary school in Langa, Cape Town. In an unrelated incident, a few hours after that, a 35-year-old administrative clerk attached to the Kraaifontein police station was shot dead in a parking lot next to a mosque in Gatesville, Athlone.
