Matera to become most capped Argentina player against England
A depleted England without their British & Irish Lions players outplayed their hosts in a comprehensive 35-12 victory last Saturday to ensure they keep their record of never having lost a series to Argentina.
Home coach Felipe Contepomi has made three changes to the backline with wings Matias Moroni and Ignacio Mendy coming into the side to form a back three with Benjamin Elizalde.
Simon Benitez Cruz also returns to scrumhalf to partner flyhalf Santiago Carreras, with the centre pairing made up of Justo Piccardo and Lucio Cinti.
Matera's move to number eight means Santiago Grondona is promoted from the bench to start, with Juan Martin Gonzalez the other flanker. Guido Petti and Pedro Rubiolo are in the second row.
Matera takes over from former hooker Agustin Creevy as Argentina's most capped player of all time.
Hooker Julian Montoya will captain the side again and has props Thomas Gallo and Francisco Gomez Kodela either side of him.

New Zealand coach Scott Robertson believes his team will have gained long-term benefits from overcoming a France side that offered a unique challenge on Saturday as the All Blacks completed a 3-0 series win over the Europeans. Robertson made 10 changes to the team that started the previous test and the French dominated the opening exchanges to claim a 19-10 lead through back-to-back penalties by scrumhalf Nolann Le Garrec. A try by All Blacks centre Anton Lienert-Brown late in the half reduced the deficit to two points and a strong second-half showing, inspired by replacement Jordie Barrett, led New Zealand to victory. "We know how important the 23 is and Jordie was just so professional when he came on," said Robertson. "He made a massive difference for us. Some of that wasn't pretty, we understand that, but there was a hell of a lot of character and effort off the back of a lot of care. "One thing for us is we've got to get the balance right. Sometimes we can overplay and sometimes we can underplay with our kicking. That's the balance."

Australia look to reinforcements to take Lions series into August
BRISBANE :Australia are banking on heavyweight reinforcements Rob Valetini and Will Skelton to help them avoid losing the series to the British & Irish Lions next weekend after they were outclassed in the first test on Saturday. Loose forward Valetini, who has been Australia's best test player for at least the last two years, and lock Skelton, who brings much-needed heft to the Australia pack, both missed the series opener due to calf strains. Coach Joe Schmidt confirmed both would be fit to face the Lions next week at Melbourne Cricket Ground as the Wallabies look for a win which would send the series into a decider in Sydney on August 2. The prospect of the series remaining in the balance into August looked like a pipe dream in the first hour at Lang Park on Saturday as the Lions hammered into the Wallabies and ran up a 24-5 lead. The fact that Australia fought back to score two tries in the final quarter to lose by only eight points gave Schmidt some hope that the series was not already dead in the water. "If you kind of win the second half, it at least gives you some belief," Schmidt said. "We will have a couple of fresh guys training fully with the team this week, which will also add a bit of ballast to our forward pack, hopefully." While Valetini and Skelton might help the Wallabies in the physicality stakes, bridging the gulf in class between the halfback pairings would look a tougher task. Flyhalf Finn Russell and scrumhalf Jamison Gibson-Park put on a masterclass as they guided the Lions around the park like the seasoned internationals that they are. Australia's playmaker Tom Lynagh, who was making his first test start, was brave in the face of the early storm but kicked poorly and struggled to make an impact without any front-foot ball. The Wallabies did look more threatening once Lynagh's Queensland teammate Tate McDermott replaced Jake Gordon at scrumhalf but by then too much damage had been done. Schmidt might make other changes to get the Wallabies into better shape for the second test but the canny New Zealander was also painfully aware that the tourists will not be standing still. "They're going to get better. They've got strength and depth," he said. "We've got to keep learning fast and hit the ground running next week, otherwise it becomes a dead rubber in Sydney.

Scrappy Springboks overwhelm Georgia 55-10 in Nelspruit
Debutant hooker Marnus van der Merwe scored two tries as South Africa eased to a 55-10 victory over Georgia in Nelspruit on Saturday, but the scoreline masked an error-strewn performance. Prop Boan Venter, centre Canan Moodie, wings Edwill van der Merwe (two) and Kurt-Lee Arendse, fullback Damian Willemse and flyhalf Handre Pollard also crossed for tries. But the Springboks served up double-digit handling errors, were poor at the lineout in the second half and could not get the upper hand at the breakdown. It was minutes in the tank at the start of the international season for several players, including captain Siya Kolisi on his return from injury. "Credit to the Georgians, physically they matched us most of the time. We struggled and at the breakdown, where they were quite dominant," Kolisi said. "We did not do enough positives one after the other. We would do something good and then make a mistake, which slowed us down. Hopefully, we can fix that." The hosts had three debutants in Venter, Marnus van der Merwe and Neethling Fouche as Erasmus stretched the number of players he has used in three games this year to 46. They added a simple try for Edwill van der Merwe after his forwards created the space and sucked in Georgia defenders, and Willemse went over in the opposite corner. When Edwill van der Merwe crossed for the final score, he took his tally of international tries to five in three games, before Arendse and Pollard dotted down late on. "This was a great match for us to grow," Georgia flanker Luka Ivanishvili said. "It was my first time playing in this kind of atmosphere and these types of game are helping us to grow to the next World Cup (in 2027)."
