SRH owner Sun TV Network buys UK's Northern Superchargers cricket franchise for Rs 1,168.6 crore
According to its filing with the BSE and NSE, the Chennai-based media and sports company will pay GBP 100.5 million (approximately ₹1,168.6 crore) in cash for the acquisition. The purchase is being made through the automatic route under RBI regulations, and completion is expected on or before December 31, 2025.
This marks Sun TV's latest global sports venture after owning the IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad and the SA20 team Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Sun TV stated that the deal is aligned with its strategy to expand its global footprint in sports, particularly cricket, and build on the growing popularity of The Hundred internationally.
Northern Superchargers Limited, incorporated in the UK in May 2019, operates in the cricket industry. The franchise reported revenues of GBP 1.89 million in FY24, slightly lower than GBP 1.99 million in FY23.
Sun TV emphasized that the acquired entity is already profitable, and they expect the league to deliver greater financial success given the rising global interest.
The board of Sun TV approved the deal during its meeting on July 18, which started at 2:30 PM and concluded at 3:40 PM. Post-acquisition, Northern Superchargers will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sun TV Network.
No related-party transactions were involved, and the promoters of Sun TV do not have any prior interest in the entity. The acquisition is entirely cash-funded via authorised banking channels.
Sun TV stated in its disclosure:
'We are enhancing our global footprint into sports and are investing into a Club that is part of 'The Hundred', which is already profitable and poised for greater financial success.'
The move cements Sun TV's presence in cricket leagues across three major regions — India, South Africa, and now the United Kingdom.

Lewis Hamilton Reportedly Dating British Pop Singer From 'F1' Movie
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Ferrari Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton has been rumored to be dating British pop singer Raye, who worked with him for the 'F1' movie. Raye was spotted in the Ferrari garage during the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, supporting Hamilton during his first home race with the Maranello-based team. Hamilton has reportedly dated several popular personalities throughout his F1 career thus far, such as Hips Don't Lie artist Shakira in 2023. Early this year, Hamilton was spotted having lunch with Colombian actress Sofia Vergara in New York, and now, a report by Planet F1 has linked the 40-year-old driver to Raye. Originally named Rachel Keen, the 27-year-old singer performed on stage at Silverstone, earning praise from Hamilton. Raye also composed a track for the 'F1' movie, which was co-produced by the seven-time world champion. Raye was present for the F1 season opener in Melbourne in March, cheering for Hamilton. Speaking to Sky Sports F1's Martin Brundle before the race, she said: Fourth placed qualifier Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain and Scuderia Ferrari is interviewed during qualifying ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Austria at Red Bull Ring on June 28, 2025 in Spielberg, Austria. Fourth placed qualifier Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain and Scuderia Ferrari is interviewed during qualifying ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Austria at Red Bull Ring on June 28, 2025 in Spielberg, Austria."Team Lewis! We couldn't miss this moment. "This is electric. The first black man in red, we're so proud to see it." When asked if she was in touch with Hamilton throughout the race weekend, she said: "Yeah, no. He's had to really get in his zone. "We're just here to support and I'm so grateful I get to be here to witness this moment." Months later, Raye's performance impressed Hamilton after the British GP qualifying session. Speaking to the media, he said: "Raye is the first concert I've been to after a race and she was great. She was the first concert I've been to at Silverstone actually. So it was great to see her, wasn't it? "It's so great that acts can come here now. When I was watching last night I was like it's incredible to perform here the crowd were great." RAYE IN THE FERRARI GARAGE WITH ANTHONY HAMILTON ❤️ — sim (@simsgazette) March 14, 2025 Hamilton's P4 finish at Silverstone was his best result thus far with Ferrari. The last stage of the race saw him battle with Sauber's Nico Hulkenberg for P3, who surprisingly held his ground and secured his first F1 podium. Given the spell of rain and the poor visibility that followed, Hamilton revealed that his Ferrari SF-25 was a tricky machine to drive in those conditions. He said: "[It was a] difficult race, not a great one from my side. I did the best I could. "As it showed there was plenty of mistakes out there and very, very tricky conditions, in really a very, very hard car to drive here – this car doesn't like those conditions. Not ideal, but we got some points at least."

Berkshire Hathaway continues to underperform after Buffett's exit news, now trailing the S&P 500
Berkshire Hathaway 's underperformance in share price has continued since Warren Buffett's exit news, now falling behind the S & P 500 in 2025. The Omaha-based conglomerate's B shares have suffered six negative weeks in the past seven, on track for its third straight negative month. Since May 3, when the "Oracle of Omaha" announced his plans to hand over the reins, the stock of his conglomerate has fallen more than 12%, cutting year-to-date gains to 4.5%, trailing the S & P 500's 7% increase. BRK.B .SPX YTD mountain Berkshire Hathaway B shares year to date vs. the S & P 500 If the stock closes July in the red, that would be its longest streak of monthly losses since June 2022. The B shares recently closed below their 200-day moving average after an impressive 573-day streak, their longest run above that level since the B shares were created in 1996. Buffett himself has tempered expectations for continuous outperformance. He noted that it's very difficult for any investments to move the needle because of the sheer amount of cash Berkshire is working with. Buffett said Berkshire's group of diversified, quality businesses — from BNSF Railway to See's Candy —should provide "slightly better" performance than the average U.S. company, but anything more than that is unlikely. 'With our present mix of businesses, Berkshire should do a bit better than the average American corporation and, more important, should also operate with materially less risk of permanent loss of capital," Buffett said in his 2023 annual letter. "Anything beyond 'slightly better,' though, is wishful thinking." Still, Buffett's long-term track record is unparalleled. Berkshire, which cuts across 40 industries and 60 companies, has doubled the average annual return of the S & P 500 since Buffett first took control in the 1960s, touting an overall gain from 1964 to 2024 of 5,502,284%.
