THERE'S nothing more annoying than getting home after a long day at work, only to sit on your sofa and notice that it's covered in pet hair.
And with spring malting season here (unfortunately for many), if you want to ensure your home always looks clean, you've come to the right place.

With the days getting longer, lots of homeowners will be getting that itch for the big spring clean.
But if you're a pet owner, the masses of pet hair (that usually begins in March and can continue into early June), often poses a large challenge to overcome.
Luckily for you, Laura Carter, a pro from online retailer Furniturebox, has shared her top cleaning and styling hacks to ensure your pad stays looking tidy when you have a house full of fur.
So with National Pet Month finally here, there's no better time to ensure you get your home looking sparkling - even if you do have a host of furry friends scurrying around.
Use shaving foam to clean stubborn pet stains
First things first, if your sofa is covered in nasty pet stains you just can't shift, you'll need to try Laura's shaving foam hack.
Simply cover stains with the beauty buy and leave it for 20 minutes before wiping away.
White shaving foam is great for stains on fabric carpets and upholstery including faux leather.
It is a surprisingly effective cleaner because it contains surfactants, emulsifiers, and cleaning agents similar to those in soap, making it gentle yet powerful for cleaning various surfaces and removing stains.
Don't scrub at muddy paw prints
Secondly, you'll need to remember not to scrub at your dog's muddy paw prints and instead, will need to let them dry first.

Rubbing or scrubbing stains risks damaging fabrics or pushing the mud deeper into it.
Top 6 spring cleaning hacks
Instead, once dry, hoover as much dry mud as possible, then use a blunt knife to scrape away the remaining mud.
On carpets, which are designed to be a little tougher, you can also gently brush at stains with a steel brush, vacuuming as you go.
For particularly tough stains, mix a quarter teaspoon of detergent (non-bleach) or white vinegar mixed with water to really attack the mark.
Blot out wee stains
When it comes to liquid stains on fabrics, simply spray them with water and then absorb with paper towels, blotting rather than rubbing to avoid weakening or stretching the fibres or pushing the stain further into the fabric.
Sprinkle the stain with bicarbonate of soda and leave for half an hour to neutralise the smell, then hoover.
Repeat as necessary until the stain and smell are gone.
Tumble dryer sheets are a game changer
If your pooch has made your home kick up a nasty smell, tumble dryer sheets should be added to your shopping list.

They're great at collecting dust as they are anti-static and leave a nice fresh scent behind.
These are better than using liquid aerosols or sprays as moisture can encourage dampness and mould in fabrics.
You can even tuck dryer sheets inside cushion covers for a more permanent freshener.
Attach a dryer sheet to a dry-mop or rubber broom using elastic bands then run around the floors to pick up dust and add a fresh smell.
You can buy dryer sheets for as little as £2.50 from Sainsbury's and biodegradable options are also available.
For a pack of 34 sheets, each use will cost you just 7p, making this trick great for those on a budget.
For those dealing with a fur-covered sofa, a shower squeegee is sure to soon be your new best friend.
Squeegees are great for scraping up all the fur from sofas and carpets that the vacuum cannot budge.
Regular vacuuming is also essential and can also help to deter fleas.
Not only this, but a rubber broom can be used to get rid of pet hair on wooden or vinyl floors too.
Select the right furniture
But at the end of the day, if you have pets and want a home that sparkles, choosing the right furniture is key.

Short pile rugs and short nap polyester velvet are great options when shopping for the best sofa for dogs or cats.
Polyester, including velvet, is durable, and a short pile means fur or mud won't sink into the fibres as easily.
While faux leather upholstery is super easy to wipe clean, it can be scratched, so it might be a better option for pets who aren't prone to claw things and may want to be avoided if your dog has sharp claws.
Choose furniture that sits on legs, making it easier to clean beneath and making a world of difference in keeping hair under control.

And while it's important to empty your bin every couple of days and make sure to dispose of anything "particularly pungent", there's also a variety of cleaning hacks that can banish grim smells. On a mission to ensure my recycling bin smells fresh this season, I, Abby Wilson, tested three simple hacks. You probably already have at least two of these buys in your cupboards already, but don't worry if your purse is feeling tighter than ever before, as all three are super affordable. While the cheapest hack will cost you just 49p, your bin will be so clean you'll be able to see your reflection thanks to a 55p trick. Wash this According to those at Busy Bins, a simple mixture of washing-up liquid and warm water will do the trick to banish seriously bad stenches from your bin. 8 Washing-up liquid got rid of strong smells, but needed a bit of elbow grease Credit: Getty So, I got my Marigolds on and dived headfirst into the bin - and yes, it was as grim as you could imagine. In between holding back gags and wiping my watering eyes, I scrubbed the interior of the recycling bin with the purse-friendly two-ingredient solution. I then gave the bin a quick rinse with a hose and I have to say, it looked pretty good. Top 6 spring cleaning hacks Whilst it wasn't great at getting rid of the tough stains and did require quite a bit of elbow grease (far more than I'd have hoped), it definitely cut through the strong smells. It looked pretty good too and thanks to this cheap trick, your bins are sure to shine in no time. While I used proper Fairy Liquid, if you're on a budget and are looking to pocket pennies where possible, you'll be thrilled to know that you can nab cheaper dish soap from just 49p from Savers. Rating: 3/5 Powerful paste After a couple of weeks, it appeared that my bin had gone back to its old ways and was still looking a bit grim. 8 The Pink Stuff made a proper mess Credit: So I searched for something a bit stronger and bought myself a tub of The Pink Stuff, which you'll find for only £1.50 from Poundland, Sainsbury's and Dunelm. While this isn't something I've heard many experts talk about when it comes to bin cleaning, I figured the multi-purpose paste which has been hailed as a 'miracle' product that is said to be 'tough on stains', could do the trick. But after literally five seconds of scrubbing, I was already starting to regret my decision. Yes, this thick paste is super versatile, but it made a total mess on my bin. The household items you're not cleaning often enough IF you want to ensure your home is squeaky clean, you'll need to listen up. Below are the household items you're forgetting to clean, and how to get them sparkling... Remote Controls: Wipe with a disinfectant cloth. Use a cotton bud for crevices. Light Switches: Wipe with a disinfectant wipe. Use a mild soap solution for tough stains. Door Handles: Clean with an antibacterial spray. Wipe down regularly. Underneath and Behind Appliances: Vacuum or sweep regularly. Mop with a suitable cleaner. Shower Curtains and Liners: Wash in the washing machine. Use a bleach solution for stubborn mildew. Kitchen Sponges and Dishcloths: Microwave damp sponges for one minute. Wash dishcloths in the washing machine. Computer Keyboards and Mice: Use compressed air to remove debris. Wipe with a disinfectant wipe. It was much more hassle than it was worth and there was far too much faff involved with getting rid of the white residue from my bin. While I love using this product throughout my home, on my grubby oven and kitchen sink, I'm definitely not sold on using it to clean my bin. Also, the scent is very faint, so it didn't work as well as I'd hoped to keep my bin smelling fresh. Rating: 2/5 Seriously strong Disappointed with the mess The Pink Stuff made, not only on my bin but all over me too, I reached for a household hero I knew wouldn't let me down. 8 Bleach took the top spot on this cleaning test Credit: Getty Not only do I use bleach on my loos, but I imagined it would work well on my bin too. According to the Wheelie Bin Cleaning Service, using bleach, which you can buy for just 55p from Tesco, is a great way to effectively disinfect a bin. By bin was left so clean I could even see my reflection in it Abby Wilson The pros explained that bleach is a 'strong cleaner' that 'kills many bacteria, viruses, and fungi', whilst working to 'keep bins clean and fresh.' Not only this, but the experts also recognised that it will 'break down tough stains, grease and grime in bins', whilst also 'making bins look new and clean again.' Eager to let the powerful product do its work, I diluted some bleach with water and threw the solution over the inside and outside of my recycling bin. I then grabbed a long brush to spread the solution and left it to work for a few minutes. Moments later, I thoroughly rinsed the bin to get rid of any residue, which is highly important when using bleach as it can be harmful to the environment and wildlife. As someone who would buy a bleach scented candle if it was available, I was overjoyed with the squeaky clean scent it left behind. Cleaning hacks for outside IF you want to get your garden summer ready, you'll need to check this out. ALGAE: If your fence is covered in stubborn algae, Mrs Hinch fans swore by white vinegar to get it looking brand new. MOSS: If moss is causing you problems, soda crystals will do just the trick. PATIO: IF your patio slabs have seen better days, bleach could be just the thing for you. Not only was it a cheap cleaning solution, but it definitely smelt the best out of the bunch too. But that wasn't all - my bin was left so clean (definitely the cleanest it has EVER looked), I could even see my reflection in it - yes, you heard that correctly. I highly doubt I'll be popping outside and peering at my bin to check that my make-up and hair look decent, but if you really want your bins to shine, bleach may just be the thing for you. Although it left me very impressed, the experts recommend that bleach should not be used for routine cleaning of bins due to environmental concerns and the damage it can do to plastic over time. I'll definitely do this trick again, but for those eager to give it a try, make sure you switch up your cleaning methods, dilute it properly before us and always wear gloves. I tried 7 denim shorts to find the perfect pair for summer that aren't too revealing – a £15 Primark buy was a winner

There's nothing more annoying than finding a gorgeous pair of shorts, only to try them on and realise they reveal too much (you know what I mean), but equally a pair that are too long are never a good look in my book. 15 I've been wearing the same pair of denims for the past few years, so with spring in full swing, I went on a mission to find a new pair of shorts that are the right length and aren't too revealing. Here, I Abby Wilson, a size 12 fashion fan, share my honest thoughts on seven pairs of denim shorts that are brand new on the high-street. So if you don't have the time to scroll through thousands of options online, you'll need to pay attention to find out which pair I'd leave on the shelf and the popular buy you need to nab fast. M&S Mom High Waisted Shorts If you're searching for a pair of denim shorts that are somewhat different to the standard options you see on the market, these Mom High Waisted Shorts from M&S are worth trying. 15 They're a slightly boxy shape, which may not be to everyone's taste, but they impressed me. They're a nice colour, good length and you're sure to stay ahead of the style curve with these chic shorts. They're a raw gem for a laid-back look, but compared to other denims out there, the material is much thinner than I would have hoped. There's two colours to choose from - medium indigo and soft white - and sizes range from a size 6 to a size 24, making them suitable for a variety of different body shapes. Yes, they're versatile, but at £25, they're definitely not cheap. My rating: 3.5/5 Shoppers run to Primark for new 'cool girl' summer shorts in colour of the season New Look A-Line Denim Shorts For those looking for a longer pair of shorts, these A-Line Denim Shorts are a great length. 15 BUY HERE Not only are they a flattering style, but they're surprisingly stretchy too. I didn't think I would be, but I'm a fan of the pale denim and the relaxed A-line shape. These New Look shorts are incredibly versatile, although they're slightly too boring for my liking. There's three colours to choose from, so you're sure to find a style that suits you, but having said that, at £27.99 (although they have now been reduced down to £20.99), I do think they are quite expensive, particularly for New Look 's standards. My rating: 2.5/5 New Look Blue Frayed Hem Denim Shorts Unlike every other pair I've tried on for this haul, these Blue Frayed Hem Denim Shorts are far too short for me. 15 Whilst they're pretty comfortable, they are much too revealing. The frayed detail gets a thumbs up and for less than £20, they're reasonably priced, but I don't fancy showing off my bum cheeks in these. New Look bosses hail these denims 'an essential for the summer and holidays season', but I can't say I agree. Hottest fashion trends of 2025 Fabulous' Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend shares the biggest trends from the high street. The East/West Bag Baguette bags have had a good run, after returning from the 1990s' shoulders of Sarah Jessica Parker to modern-day fashion icons, like Hailey Bieber. In 2025, the East/West bag is a similar but elongated shape and has long, thin straps that are easy to throw over your shoulder. They've been on runway models' arms at nearly ever designer show - think Burberry, Givenchy and Bottega Veneta - and are hitting the high street now, too. Powder pink Bright fuchsia pink had its day after the release of Barbie in 2023 and now the more polished and expensive-looking pale shade is taking over for 2025. Pantone may say that it's the year of Mocha Mousse, but the catwalks say otherwise! From Prada to Erdem, the subtle look was all over the spring/summer catwalks, worn head-to-toe or on its own. If the sugary shade is too girly for you, then look to sharp suiting for a androgynous take on the colour. The shell jacket The '80s classic is back, but with a sleek and minimal new twist for 2025. We all know we're likely to see rain for most of spring, so your practical coat of choice should be a cagoule jacket. Depop revealed one of its big trend predictions for this year is retro sportswear, with surges already seen in '80s windbreakers'. Seen everywhere from the stylish streets of Copenhagen to the Miu Miu catwalk, now mums who have an emergency raincoat crumpled underneath their pushchair are very much in fashion! The turn-up jeans While the shape of jeans remains the same for this year and barrel-legs will still be everywhere, the way we're styling them is different. This season, transform your wide-leg, baggy denims into turn-ups. For this look, size doesn't matter, so while deep turn-ups are a hit from jean trend-leaders Citizens of Humanity, a slight fold is still just as good - but only as it's just one single fold. Peep-toe shoe Get your pedicures booked in sharpish, as this season your toes are the main event. After a long hiatus, the peep-toe has been welcomed back into the fashion fold, with brands like Hermes, Miu Miu and Tory Burch showing plain and embellished footwear in this style. From mules to pumps and clogs (yes, clogs will be around too!), there are lots of different styles that are set to sweep the high street. Sheer blouses See-through looks have always lived on the catwalk, but have rarely filtered into everyday life - until now. Designers Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford loved sheer looks on their S/S '25 catwalks and M&S even had sellout success with its black sheer pencil skirt last season. Expect to see more sheer looks lining supermarket aisles and high street shops in the form of skirts, tops and frocks. They were once priced at £19.99 and have since been slashed down to £14.99, so if you're on a budget, you'll be pleased to know that they won't break the bank. But if you want to protect your pride, I'd say avoid. My rating: 1/5 F&F Bermuda Shorts I had no clue what ' Bermuda Shorts ' were prior to this test, but it appears that they are very on trend. 15 Such styles are slightly longer than traditional denim shorts, so if you're after something that won't show off what you ate for lunch, these may just be the pair for you. Unfortunately, these Bermuda Shorts from F&F are an absolute no from me. The skater style is definitely not my vibe and to be honest, I couldn't get them off quick enough (and can't believe there's now a photo of me wearing them online for the world to see). Yes, they're reasonably priced at just £19.50 and come in an impressive size range, but within a second of looking at them, I quickly realised the ' jorts ' trend (jean shorts that end at or just below the knee), is not one for me While I like the lightwash colour of these cotton rich denims, I can safely say these longline shorts are getting returned. Immediately. My rating: 0/5 F&F Linen Blend Pleated Tailored Shorts Tailored shorts aren't a style that I'd normally reach for, but I may just be convinced thanks to this F&F pair. 15 BUY HERE These Linen Blend Pleated Tailored Shorts, which are priced at £22.50, are a gorgeous navy colour. As well as being cotton-rich and versatile, they have fashionable pleated details, belt loops and side pockets, making them sure to turn heads (for all the right reasons). I'm sure they'll be a stylish addition to your shorts collection this summer, and will look super chic when paired with a shirt or blouse for dressed-up plans. Is supermarket fashion the new high street? DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale weighs in: The supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family. Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a 'strong growth in clothing' and M&S has earnt the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street. Asda's clothing line George has made £1.5 million for the supermarket in 2023, 80 per cent of Sainsbury's clothes sold at full price rather than discounted and Nutmeg at Morrisons sales are also up 2 per cent in the past year. So what is it about supermarket fashion that is becoming so successful? Apart from the clothing actually being affordable, it's good quality too - with many being part of schemes such as the Better Cotton Initiative. A lot of the time they keep to classic pieces that they know will last the customer year after year. Plus because they buy so much stock they can turn around pieces quickly and buy for cheaper because of the volumes. Having said that, the smart shorts do come up quite big, which I often find with trousers from F&F. While they're not as purse-friendly as some of the other high-street offerings, they are definitely worth it for the quality - just make sure you get a size down. My rating: 3/5 Primark Bermuda Shorts Much shorter than the Bermuda Shorts I tried, this pair from Primark are much more my vibe. 15 They're from Paula Echevarría 's new range and are an elegant, relaxed cut. These dark denim Bermuda Shorts are super on-trend for those looking for a longer length, more cultivated-looking style. They're sure to be a winner for those wanting a smart, chic pair of shorts, but they're slightly boxy for me. Having said that, they do look sophisticated (as denims go) and the pure cotton fabric is structured yet breathable. The functional slip and patch pockets lend a practical finishing touch, but they are somewhat shapeless and unfortunately, made my bum look even flatter than it already is. Having said that, at £13, they're a brilliant price for the quality, and shoppers will be pleased to know that there are five colours to choose from, all of which available to order via Click & Collect. My rating: 3.5/5 Primark Rope Tie Denim Bermuda Shorts Last, but very not least, are my favourite pair of the lot. I can't say I had high hopes when I first got my hands on these Rope Tie Denim Bermuda Shorts, which are part of Paula Echevarría 's new collection, but I immediately fell in love with these unique shorts as soon as I put them on. I was so surprised by these shorts, which have an elasticated waist and come complete with a drawstring belt and lovely pockets. Not only will you not need to buy a belt with these thanks to their two-in-one design, but they're spot on for an off-duty chic look. Top Primark summer buys IF you're looking for more Primark summer buys, then you've come to the right place. Shoppers have recently been raving about the new Miffy PJs from Primark. Others were desperate to nab the new leopard print nightwear. If animal print is your thing, you'll want to check out the new maxi skirts. The haltnerneck tops are perfect for summer. If you're on a budget, these trousers are identical to a pair from Zara, but without the hefty price tag. There's brilliant travel essentials for less than £10. And if you plan on heading to the beach, you won't want to miss these crochet bags. If you ask me, they're the perfect blend between stretchy and comfy and smart and classic. They're an easy-to-wear pair I'm sure I'll be wearing on repeat this summer and will look perfect paired with a relaxed tee and trainers. As well as being the perfect length, they're a great colour too - and if that wasn't enough, there's also three others to choose from. They can be ordered via Primark's Click & Collect service and are a fail-safe warm weather buy that's perfect for soaking up the sun whilst looking stylish this season. And if that wasn't enough, for just £15, I think they're a real steal.

After feeding her daughter Ottilie, the UGC creator and marketing manager showed off her young child's dirty sock, covered in orange stains. Moments later, she revealed the cute sock, which was now sparkling white, thanks to the high-street buy.
