Why did DuckDuckGo add this filter now?
According to the company, the feature is being introduced in response to user feedback indicating that AI images may impede users' ability to find what they're looking for.
By performing a search on DuckDuckGo and selecting the Images tab, users can access the new setting. They will then be presented with a new drop-down menu labeled "AI images."
Live Events
After that, users can select "show" or "hide" to indicate whether they wish to view AI content. By selecting the "Hide AI-Generated Images" option in their search settings, users can also activate the filter, as per a report by Tech Crunch.
DuckDuckGo's latest feature coincides with the proliferation of AI slop, low-quality media content created with generative AI technology, on the internet.
Does it completely remove AI content?
According to a post on X by DuckDuckGo, "the filter relies on manually curated open-source blocklists, including the 'nuclear' list, provided by uBlockOrigin and uBlacklist Huge AI Blocklist."

"While it won't catch 100% of AI-generated results, it will greatly reduce the number of AI-generated images you see. "
DuckDuckGo stated that it intends to add more filters in the future, but it gave no details.
It's important to note that DuckDuckGo's example of the new feature shows an image search for a baby peacock.
This is probably a reference to Google's controversy last year when it displayed more artificial intelligence-generated images of baby peacocks than actual images when users searched for the bird.
DuckDuckGo looks like it's trying to be a cleaner, more reliable option for people who want real images instead of guesses made by machines.
People want to be able to filter out AI-generated content as it becomes more common online, and DuckDuckGo now lets them do that.
FAQs
How can I block AI images in DuckDuckGo?
Simply navigate to the Images tab and select the new "AI images" dropdown to hide them.
Will it remove all AI images?
Not entirely, but it will reduce the majority of them using open-source blocklists.

Stormy Monsoon Session begins July 21: Parliament to focus on Operation Sindoor, new Tax Bill; check agenda, bills, and more

A political storm is set to hit Parliament from July 21, as fiery debates erupt over Operation Sindoor , the Pahalgam terror attack and the delay in justice, Donald Trump's controversial 'ceasefire' claims during India-Pak tensions, and Bihar's special electoral roll revision, which the INDIA bloc warns could trample voting rights. This will be the first session after Operation Sindoor, which was launched in May following a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam that killed 26 people. The government is preparing to bring forward a series of amendments and new legislative proposals across sectors including taxation, sports, education, mining, and shipping. The session will also introduce a new attendance system for MPs, requiring them to mark their presence through a digital device at their designated seats—an effort aimed at increasing transparency and reducing misuse of allowances. Income Tax Bill, other economic agendas A report of the parliamentary committee set up to scrutinise the new Income Tax Bill, 2025, which would replace the six-decade old Income Tax Act, is scheduled to be tabled in the Lok Sabha on Monday. The 31-member Select Committee, chaired by BJP leader Baijayant Panda, was appointed by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to scrutinise The new Income Tax Bill, 2025, which was introduced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 13 in the Lok Sabha. The Committee has made 285 suggestions and at its meeting on July 16 adopted the report on new I-T Bill, 2025, which will now be tabled in the House for further action. The simplified Income Tax Bill, which is half the size of the 1961 Income Tax Act, seeks to achieve tax certainty by minimising the scope of litigation and fresh interpretation. Provisions relating to exemptions and TDS/TCS have been made crispier in the Bill by putting them in a tabular format, while the chapter for not-for-profit organisations has been made comprehensive with use of plain language. As a result of this, the word count has come down by 34,547. In a taxpayer-friendly move, the Bill replaces the term 'previous year' as mentioned in the Income Tax Act, 1961 with 'tax year'. Also, the concept of assessment year has been done away with. Currently, for income earned in the previous year (say 2023-24), tax is paid in assessment year (say 2024-25). This previous year and assessment year (AY) concept has been removed and only tax year under the simplified bill has been brought in. Defence Minister on 'Operation Sindoor' The session is likely to see a detailed statement on Operation Sindoor by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who held two key meetings on Friday evening with his ministerial colleagues and another with top military brass. Several leaders, including those from the NDA, also want a discussion to highlight the achievements of the government's foreign outreach through various Parliamentary delegations on Operation Sindoor. The government may also field External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to convey its view in Parliament, sources said. Big uproar by Opposition The INDIA bloc Saturday evening brainstormed on issues of 'national concern' in a virtual meeting, that saw the participation of 24 parties and included Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, K C Venugopal, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, Dipankar Bhattacharya (CPI-ML), N K Premachandran (RSP), Abhishek Banerjee (TMC), Tejashwi Yadav (RJD), Ramgopal Yadav (SP), Omar Abdullah (NC), Hemant Soren (JMM) and Tiruchi Siva (DMK). Rahul is learnt to have pushed for a united fight in Parliament. Aam Aadmi Party which had decided to disengage itself from the opposition grouping, did not attend the meeting. Another contentious issue in the session would be the 'attack on migrants across the country'. TMC's Banerjee, CPI (ML)'s Bhattacharya, and other netas highlighted that migrants from Bengal and other regions were being attacked. They linked it to the voters' review. The discussion on migrants and voters rolls in the meeting suggests opposition may be unrelenting on the SIR. BJP is sure to return fire by saying that the scrutiny of voters was consistent with the Constitution which lays down that only Indian citizens have the right to vote, and by accusing the oppoosition of trying to shield infiltrators from Bangladesh as part of their 'votebank politics'. Amid the differences between the govt and the opposition, a rare bipartisanship will see the Lok Sabha bring a motion to impeach Justice Yashwant Varma for alleged corruption. But even here, a fresh faultline is the pendency of the impeachment notice submitted by the opposition against Justice Shekhar Yadav of Allahahad HC for 'hate speech'. While the opposition is pushing for Yadav's sacking, the govt is reluctant to entertain it.

Delhi-bound Air India Express flight cancelled due to technical snag, chaos at Ranchi airport

A Delhi-bound Air India flight was cancelled on Sunday due to a technical snag, causing a chaotic situation at the airport here, officials said. Passengers were seen arguing with the airline's staff about rescheduling. "The AIX (Air India Express) 1200 from Ranchi to Delhi has been cancelled due to a technical issue. While checking the aircraft before takeoff, the technical snag was detected," Airport director RR Maurya told PTI. A 39-year-old passenger, Faiz Anwar, told PTI, "We boarded the flight around 5.20 pm and waited till 7 pm when all of a sudden we were asked to deboard without providing any reason. I have to attend an important meeting in Delhi tomorrow, but they are not ready to reschedule my flight." Live Events He claimed there were many passengers, who had to catch connecting international flights from Delhi for the UK, the US and South Africa, but no one was there to pay heed to their requests. "There is complete mismanagement and chaos," he alleged. Meanwhile, around 30 metres of the boundary wall on the southern side of the Birsa Munda Airport here collapsed on Sunday amid rain for over a month, according to an airport release. The situation was promptly assessed, and immediate measures have been taken to ensure complete safety and security of the airport premises, it added. Additional CISF personnel have been deployed to strengthen perimeter security, and the affected section of the wall has been barricaded as a precautionary step, the release said. "We have already initiated necessary actions to restore the boundary. Importantly, there has been no impact on airport operations, and all services continue to function smoothly. The safety and security of our passengers and facilities remain our highest priority," it added.

Human Coder Beats AI In Epic 10-Hour Showdown: 'Humanity Prevails, For Now'

Machines might not be able to dominate humans despite the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) -- at least yet, after a Polish programmer defeated an OpenAI model in a head-to-head coding competition. Programmer Przemyslaw Debiak, better known as Psycho, emerged victorious after a 10-hour marathon coding stint at the AtCoder World Tour Finals 2025 Heuristic contest in Tokyo. The contest might have been the first time where an AI model competed directly against top human programmers in a major onsite world championship, according to a report in Arstechnia. Having already competed in several events prior to the big showdown against AI, Debiak, a former OpenAI employee, managed to coast to victory despite being 'completely exhausted'. "Humanity has prevailed (for now!) I'm completely exhausted. I figured, I had 10 hours of sleep in the last 3 days and I'm barely alive," wrote Debiak on X (formerly Twitter). "The results are official now and my lead over AI increased from 5.5 per cent to 9.5 per cent. Honestly, the hype feels kind of bizarre. Never expected so many people would be interested in programming contests. Guess this means I should drop in here more often," he added. The competition required the contestants to solve a single complex optimisation problem over 10 hours. The solution lies in using clever, often imperfect strategies to reach the best possible solutions within strict time constraints. While Debiak may have emerged as the winner, the AI model still managed to outperform the remaining elite human programmers, who had each qualified for the competition through year-long rankings. See the post here: Humanity has prevailed (for now!) I'm completely exhausted. I figured, I had 10h of sleep in the last 3 days and I'm barely alive. I'll post more about the contest when I get some rest. (To be clear, those are provisional results, but my lead should be big enough) — Psyho (@FakePsyho) July 16, 2025 Also Read | What Is Baby Grok? Musk's xAI Announces Kid-Friendly AI Chatbot After Companion Controversy "Last human to defeat AI?" Social media users congratulated Debiak on his victory and asked him to share the solution which helped him upstage the AI model. "Congrats! Looking forward to your analysis on the solutions if you get time," said one user, while another added: "This is much more interesting than basketball, tennis or even chess championships." A third commented: "You are likely one of the last humans to defeat an AI in a programming contest. This is a huge deal for humanity as a whole, even those who don't care about programming contests." With experts predicting that AI models will reach human-level consciousness, more popularly known as Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), in the next few years, Debiak's victory could perhaps be the last few instances where humans are able to beat the machines.
