Orlando Pirates are still hoping to bag the signature Stellenbosch FC defender Thabo Moloisane, according to reports.
Soccer Laduma reports that Pirates are still trying to sign the player, despite the latest developments which point to the move not happening.
Moloisane was nominated for Betway Premiership Defender of the Season at the upcoming PSL awards at the end of the month.
His contract with Stellies actually runs until the end of June 2026, but that has seemingly not deterred the Soweto Giants.

WATCH: Mofokeng rounds keeper to seal first pre-season win for Orlando Pirates

Relebohile Mofokeng came off the bench to secure a 2-0 victory for Orlando Pirates against Granada on Saturday evening in Spain. This match was the Buccaneers' fourth and final pre-season game, and they needed a strong performance to boost their confidence ahead of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season. After losing their first match against Bolton Wanderers last week, Orlando Pirates had played two successive draws before facing Granada. In the first half of the game, the team looked positive and could have taken the lead, but their lack of finishing let them down. In the second half, the Sea Robbers continued to press for a goal, but again struggled with finishing. While the Spanish side also created some chances, they were unable to convert them. Mofokeng was introduced in the second half as Pirates searched for the winner. Their persistence paid off when Patrick Maswanganyi blasted a shot past the Granada keeper after the ball fell at his feet. The Buccaneers continued to push for a second goal, which came in the 90th minute when Relebohile dribbled past the keeper, giving Orlando Pirates their first victory of the pre-season. Having played in four matches in Spain, 'President Ya Ma 2000' scored two times. The 20-year-old has recently been in the spotlight regarding his future, and this match may have been his last in Pirates colours. Could Marcus Rashford be heading to Barcelona? Latest updates on the transfer saga

Barca bound? According to reports, Marcus Rashford is set to complete a loan move from Manchester United to Spanish giants Barcelona. Photo: AFP Image: AFP Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford is closing in on a move to Barcelona, reports said on Saturday. The 27-year-old has not played for his boyhood club since December 12, and joined Aston Villa on loan in early February. The Spanish champions have reportedly been his preferred destination since he was dropped by United manager Ruben Amorim. Britain's Press Association said talks were progressing on a deal to take Rashford to Barcelona, with a season-long loan including an option to buy being worked on. Next Stay Close ✕ Rashford is among five players to have informed United they wish to explore a future away from Old Trafford, where he came through the academy and scored 138 goals in 426 first-team appearances. The England international admitted he was "ready for a new challenge" in December and last month revealed he would like to play alongside Barcelona's teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal. Rashford has trained away from Amorim's first-team squad since pre-season began. Barcelona sporting director Deco said in May that he liked Rashford and head coach Hansi Flick described the forward as a "fantastic player". Rashford does not have a squad number at United having lost the 10 shirt to Brazil forward Matheus Cunha, who arrived at Old Trafford during the current transfer window along with left-back Diego Leon. Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo is expected to join them after United finally struck a deal with Brentford worth an initial £65 million ($87 million). United will likely have to fund any further deals through departures. Even if Rashford were to leave initially on loan, the savings on the wage bill would be significant. Barcelona had looked set to sign Spain winger Nico Williams but the 23-year-old recently signed a new 10-year contract at Athletic Bilbao. The Catalan giants won a league and cup double last season -- Flick's first campaign at the club. AFP Get your news on the go, click here to join the IOL News WhatsApp channel.

Orlando Pirates news: Yeye, Sebelebele, Mofokeng, Saudi, R100m

Orlando Pirates have been the busiest of the teams in the PSL during this transfer period. So far, the Buccaneers have signed 10 players, as they seek to once again challenge Mamelodi Sundowns for the Betway Premiership. Earlier in the week, Mohau Nkota left Orlando Pirates after one season to join Saudi outfit Al-Ettifaq. The 20-year-old has had a fantastic season, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in 39 matches across all competitions. On Friday, Unplayable reported that Nkota's former teammate Relebofile Mofokeng could also join him in Saudi Arabia this transfer period. Sechaba Mofokeng, the father of Relebohile, said his biggest wish was to see his son playing in Europe this coming season. He discouraged a move to Saudi, saying it was too soon for the boy to play in the Middle East. This week, Soccer Laduma reported that Dutch side PSV were looking to sign Mofokeng for over R100 million but Pirates refuted the claims. The Buccaneers have already signed Kamogelo Sebelebele, Oswin Appollis and Tshepang Moremi as possible replacements. Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder has backed Sebelebele to succeed at Pirates. 'I was fortunate enough to have worked with Kamogelo in COSAFA and CHAN. He's a good player with the right attitude,' Letsholonyane said on Omni Audio Africa . 'I'm not surprised to see Orlando Pirates signing him because he deserves that. So he adds on the quality of Oswin Appollis and Rele [Mofokeng]. 'He gives you the same possibilities, but he can even play as a striker. If you are a coach who wants to play with a false 9, then Kamogelo gives you that. 'And another thing is that he wants to win every game he plays, tired or not tired, he'll leave everything on the field until the last whistle, so that's one positive signing for Pirates, and I'm happy for Kamogelo, he deserves this move,' Yeye said.
