Aanand L Rai in shock as production house plans to re-release 'Raanjhanaa' with AI-powered climax: 'They may change 'Sholay' climax by keeping Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra's characters alive'
Aanand L Rai 's 'Raanjhanaa' is set to return to theatres on August 1 as it celebrates 12 years since its release in 2013. The movie ends with Dhanush's character, Kundan, dying after being shot at a political rally. The storyline has remained memorable for fans who appreciated its tragic depth. The makers have stirred a storm with the announcement of an alternate climax for the movie, which is reportedly created using Artificial Intelligence. Aanand reacted to the new announcement and shared his disappointment. Director Not Informed of AI-Driven Climax Change Recently shared posters of 'Raanjhanaa' had a line in them about having a different climax using AI for its re-release. Rai, who directed and co-produced the original under his banner, was neither consulted nor informed prior to the studio's decision. 'I got to know through a social media announcement a couple of days ago. People have already been messaging me asking me why that ending is being changed. I just can't wrap my head around this,' he shared in an interview with The Indian Express. He reached out to the film's production house, owned by Krishika Lulla, but his objections were dismissed. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo He now plans to formally request that his name be removed from the reworked version. Rai said, 'I don't get it, how can they do this? It's an ending people have loved! If not the filmmaker, at least listen to the audience.' He further criticised the need for a so-called 'happy ending'. 'What is a happy ending? It's a tragedy, that's an emotion. How can you meddle with emotions? The voice of the film lies in that ending,' he added. Raanjhanaa: 'Tu Mun Shudi' song A Cautionary Tale for Filmmakers Rai further shared that the only lesson he has learnt from this is that he will be more careful in the future while signing any contracts with no clear clause in it. He also wanted other filmmakers to learn from his incident. 'A studio doesn't care about the story. Just to earn a few crores, they're tampering with a writer, director, and actor's creation,' he stated. AI Recut Reportedly Sold in Tamil Nadu The production house had reportedly sold the altered version to a Tamil Nadu-based distributor. Rai believes that they are trying to test the market in Tamil Nadu with it, and they might have paid them some money already. He called it a crime and admitted that his hero (Dhanush) has a strong presence there, which may affect his stardom. Rai feels the studio is prioritising quick profits over creative integrity. 'They'll realise it soon, when the actors and the audience get back to them. No actors would want to work with them now. Maybe they don't want to work with actors anymore. They plan to make films with AI only,' he shared. Aanand is not against the use of AI He further clarified that he is not against the use of AI, but changing the past using the technology sounds ridiculous to him. 'Next thing we know, they may change the climax of Sholay (1975) by keeping both Jai (Amitabh Bachchan) and Veeru (Dharmendra) alive,' he concluded. About Raanjhanaa 'Raanjhanaa' featured Dhanush, Sonam Kapoor , Abhay Deol, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Swara Bhaskar in key roles.

GTA 5 Online's Mansions update could be Its last
Image via Rockstar Games. Despite being released over a decade ago, GTA 5 is still one of the most popular titles in the world right now. And a fair share of credit goes to its online counterpart, GTA Online. GTA 5 might have never got a DLC update, but Rockstar never left GTA Online behind. That is why GTA 5 Online is slated for yet another major update in the coming winter, which will have accessible Mansions across the game. However, as GTA 6's release is nearing soon, the Mansions update might well be the last for GTA 5 Online. Is the Mansions update going to be the last for GTA 5 Online? It's the unique aspect of each update that makes GTA 5 Online legendary. For example, fans liked the Money Fronts update in the latest summer DLC very much. A Money Front is actually a legally operating business that also plays the role of a decoy against your laundering illicit income. Similarly, the upcoming winter DLC will also feature a unique aspect called Mansions. As the name suggests, players will be able to purchase, interact, and even set up businesses in Mansions. Dataminers came to conclusion when they found uncovered references of interactable Mansions in the Money Fronts update in-game files. Recently, popular GTA leaker Tez2 revealed more details about the update. According to him, the leftover scripts point towards Mansions functionality similar to Casino Penthouse. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like How To Reduce Debt Over R100,000 (Without Another Loan) ExpertMoney Learn More Undo That means, players will be able to host parties, install arcade gaming setups, and many more. If all of these rumors come out to be true, then it is going to be the most exciting treat for the GTA 5 Online fans as the Mansions update is slated to be the biggest update of the game. Sadly, this update might well become its last as well. As per the regular GTA Online update schedule, the game generally releases two-three major DLC a year, often spread across spring, summer, and winter. The upcoming Mansions DLC is going to be a winter update, which might release in December 2025. And as the GTA 6 launch is looming over everyone's head on May 26, 2026, the Mansions update is highly likely to be the last one of GTA 5 Online. Also, GTA 6 is rumored to have its own online counterpart , so there are less chances that GTA 5 Online will get further updates after GTA 6 gets released. Rockstar Games is also working on testing multiplayer lobbies with support for up to 64 players, which is much higher than that of GTA 5 Online. So, the upcoming winter update might be the biggest win for the fans, because the Mansion is probably the most requested feature in the game. Also, this update will pose as a fitting send-off to the GTA 5 era.
