Abu Safiya Suffers from Systematic Torture in Israeli Prisons

DaysofPal- Attorney Ghaid Ghanem Qassem, the lawyer representing detained Palestinian physician Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, has revealed shocking details about the inhumane conditions he is enduring inside Israeli prisons, stating that he has lost over 40 kilograms of his body weight and is subjected to brutal torture and medical neglect.
In a Facebook post, Qassem wrote: 'Dr. Hussam is not well. He has lost more than a third of his body weight since his arrest on December 27, 2024. He used to weigh 100 kg, and now he weighs no more than 60.' She added that he was severely beaten on June 24 inside Room 1, Section 24 of Ofer Prison, where he was violently struck on his chest, face, head, back, and neck for more than 30 minutes.
Qassem noted that Dr. Abu Safiya had repeatedly requested medical treatment and to be examined by a cardiologist due to his irregular heartbeat and heart muscle enlargement, but these requests were denied. His glasses, which had been delivered through his attorney, were also deliberately broken by prison authorities.
'Despite the summer heat, Dr. Hussam is still wearing his winter clothes while held underground, without any exposure to sunlight, enduring starvation, isolation, and ongoing physical and psychological torture,' Qassem said.
During her last visit on July 9, she reported that his first question was about the fate of his martyred son's body, who had been temporarily buried near Kamal Adwan Hospital due to Israeli shelling.
He also expressed sorrow over not being able to say goodbye to his mother, who passed away just ten days after his arrest.
Israeli authorities recently classified Dr. Abu Safiya as an 'unlawful combatant', a legal designation enacted in 2002 that allows Israel to detain individuals from 'hostile entities' without the protections typically afforded to prisoners of war.
Israeli Channel 13 had previously aired a video showing Dr. Abu Safiya inside the prison for the first time since his arrest, handcuffed, exhausted, and unwell.
Earlier this year, Amnesty International called for his immediate release, citing credible testimonies about horrific conditions inside Israeli detention centers, where Palestinian detainees, including medical personnel, face systematic torture and abuse.
Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, is a prominent physician in Gaza. He suffers from chronic high blood pressure and cardiac hypertrophy, yet has been denied proper medical care or specialist consultation.
In light of these revelations, human rights organizations are increasingly demanding an international investigation into his detention conditions and accountability for the Israeli occupation's systematic abuses, which may amount to war crimes under international law.

IOF Kills 50 Palestinians since Morning Hours in Gaza

DaysofPal— The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed yet another massacre against civilians in the Gaza Strip on Saturday morning, targeting crowds of Palestinians who were waiting for humanitarian aid in the southern region of the besieged enclave. The attack left at least 32 people martyred and over 100 others injured, many of them critically. Medical and local sources confirmed that the Israeli strikes targeted two separate aid distribution points, one located on Al-Tina Street in southern Khan Younis and another in the Al-Shakoush area in northern Rafah, both situated within the so-called 'humanitarian zone' overseen by the U.S. military. The wounded and deceased were transported to Nasser Medical Complex, where overwhelmed medical teams struggled to cope with the scale of the casualties amid ongoing shortages in medicine and equipment. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the total death toll across the Strip has reached 50 martyrs since dawn today, following a series of airstrikes and artillery shelling that struck civilian homes and areas. Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation continues its relentless and systematic war crimes against civilians in Gaza, employing daily bombardments, executions, and home demolitions. These attacks are accompanied by an ongoing, suffocating blockade, preventing the entry of food, medical aid, and other essential supplies. As a result, Gaza is experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, with daily cases of exhaustion, malnutrition, and preventable deaths mounting steadily. This latest massacre comes as more than two million Palestinians remain trapped in Gaza under siege, facing total collapse of the health system, hunger, and violence, while the international community continues to stand by in silence. Health Ministry: Catastrophic Famine and Deadly Massacres Threaten Thousands of Starving Civilians

DaysofPal—The Ministry of Health in Gaza has issued an urgent warning about a catastrophic famine and deadly massacres targeting thousands of starving civilians near American aid distribution centers, described locally as 'death traps.' In a statement released Saturday, the ministry said the Gaza Strip is facing a real and worsening famine, marked by severe shortages of basic food supplies and a sharp increase in acute malnutrition. The crisis is compounded by a complete collapse of medical capabilities to treat hunger-related illnesses. Medical teams have recorded a significant rise in hunger-related deaths, as starvation and malnutrition claim increasing numbers of lives each day. According to the ministry, Nasser Medical Complex received the bodies of 32 people killed since dawn today, along with dozens of injured individuals. All were victims of an Israeli attack targeting civilians at American aid distribution sites in southern Gaza. The Health Ministry warned of an unprecedented health and humanitarian disaster if the international community remains silent in the face of such atrocities. It called on the international community, UN agencies, and human rights organizations to take immediate and concrete action to halt the massacres and open humanitarian corridors for the safe and regular delivery of food, medicine, and fuel. Since March 2, the Israeli occupation has closed all crossings into Gaza and continues to prevent the entry of humanitarian aid, triggering skyrocketing prices of essential food items and widespread shortages across local markets. The statement adds to growing alarm from humanitarian agencies and rights groups over the ongoing Israeli siege and military campaign in Gaza, which has created one of the worst food crises in modern history. Infants Dying of Starvation in Gaza Amid Severe Famine, Inte'l Warnings

DaysofPal- In a heartbreaking tragedy reflecting the scale of the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, infant Sana'a Al-Lahham has died from severe malnutrition caused by the ongoing Israeli blockade that prevents the entry of food and medical supplies, including baby formula and essential nutritional supplements. Medical sources confirmed that Sana'a's case is not isolated but part of a worsening wave of wasting and dehydration among infants and children in Gaza. Reports indicate that hundreds of critical cases are recorded daily in hospitals struggling to provide even minimal care amid catastrophic shortages of supplies. In a new warning, Gaza's Ministry of Health sounded the alarm, noting a troubling rise in the number of Palestinians arriving at hospitals suffering from severe hunger and extreme exhaustion. This warning came just days after the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) announced that one in every ten children examined in its clinics suffers from malnutrition. UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini stated that the continued Israeli blockade preventing aid from entering Gaza has caused a 'severe shortage of nutritional supplies,' describing the situation as a 'man-made disaster.' UNRWA's Communications Director, Juliet Tuma, added: 'Medications, nutritional supplies, hygiene materials, and fuel, all of it—are rapidly running out.' She also quoted a nurse who said, 'Previously, we only saw such malnutrition cases in textbooks and documentaries.' Breastfeeding mothers are also suffering from severe malnutrition, leading to a significant decline in natural milk production. At the same time, the occupation forces continue to block the entry of baby formula and nutritional supplements despite repeated international warnings. Dr. Youssef Mansour, a pediatrician at Al-Nasr Hospital, said: 'We are witnessing children dying, not from incurable diseases, but because they are deprived of food. This is slow, deliberate killing that violates all humanitarian laws.' Under these circumstances, hospitals are experiencing a near-total collapse in operational capacity, with exhausted medical teams struggling helplessly as cases surge and no signs of imminent humanitarian relief. Amid all this, the grave of infant Sana'a Al-Lahham has become a stark symbol of a grim chapter of suffering in Gaza, where a silent war is waged against children and infants, not only with weapons but with starvation and deprivation.
