Cooper DeJean was the first rookie to have a pick-six in a Super Bowl since 1986. He was the highest-graded cornerback last season, according to Pro Football Focus. If he didn't replace Avonte Maddox after the bye week, would they have won a championship?
DeJean's impact was felt throughout the 2024-25 season, and league circles are paying attention. ESPN released their top-10 cornerback rankings on Thursday, and while DeJean didn't crack the list, he received several votes. His fellow draftmate, Quinyoin Mitchell, was ranked ninth.
Versatility and athleticism are what make DeJean a special player. Here's a breakdown of DeJean's snaps from the regular and postseason via PFF:
With Darius Slay and Isaiah Rodgers departing in free agency, the Eagles want DeJean on the field as much as possible. Vic Fangio has even considered giving him more snaps outside or at safety in base packages. DeJean moved around frequently in college but never played extensively at the safety position.
'I'll play wherever, to be honest,' DeJean said in May. 'Wherever they put me on the football field, I'll play there. As long as I'm out there, I'll be ready to play no matter the position, whether it's corner, nickel, or safety.'
DeJean recorded 51 tackles and six pass breakups during his rookie season, finishing fourth in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.

Ex-Tennessee Titans WR Derrick Mason inducted into Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame
While much of the focus for the Tennessee Titans is currently centered on the start of training camp on July 22, one of their former stars, Derrick Mason, was being honored in Nashville on Saturday night. The franchise leader in receptions and receiving yards joined Eric Berry, Jenny Connolly, and Tony White as 2025 inductees into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. It's a tremendous honor for Mason, who rose from a fourth-round pick in the 1997 NFL draft out of Michigan State to stardom as a receiver and return specialist for the Titans. After a slow start to his career, he broke out in 2000 by being selected to the Pro Bowl and named All-Pro, having led the NFL in punt return yardage while also pulling in 63 receptions for 895 yards and five touchdowns. Mason finished his eight seasons with the Titans holding multiple team records and remains their leader in 22 different regular-season and playoff statistical categories. More than enough to etch his name into Tennessee sports history. After spending the first eight years of his 15-year career in Nashville, he moved on to the Baltimore Ravens for six seasons before finishing his career with a season split between the New York Jets and Houston Texans. In all, Mason recorded 943 receptions for 12,061 yards and 66 touchdowns with four teams in the NFL. Dan Campbell admits his biggest concern for Lions going into training camp
The Detroit Lions are seeing significant turnover in their offensive line going into the 2025 season. The team lost center Frank Ragnow to retirement and guard Kevin Zeitler to free agency, where he inked a deal with the Tennessee Titans. As if all that wasn't enough, there are concerns with guard Graham Glasgow after a disappointing 2024 campaign that led many to wonder if he's on the decline. Glasgow is one of at least two offensive linemen who were competing for the vacant center job this offseason, along with rookie Tate Ratledge. That competition will no doubt continue in training camp and the loser will likely take one of the guard spots. The favorite for the other guard spot is second-year offensive lineman Christian Mahogany, who showed promise last season but remains mostly unproven. Going into training camp, head coach Dan Campbell revealed that the offensive line is his biggest concern. "My eyes are on the O-line," Campbell told reporters on Sunday. "I want to see what that unit's going to do and what's going to come out of that. We need some guys to step up for us. It's a great opportunity. "We lost Frank and Zeitler's gone and so we've got two or three more spots for guys to step up and help us. And, once that happens, then mesh," he added. "The guys that we know we can trust, this is where they're going to play and then getting whoever those five are together to where they start working together and start trusting each other." Campbell added that the battle for interior offensive line spots is "an open competition," per Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News. Given all that's required of a center, Glasgow's experience gives him the edge over the rookie for that particular spot. The veteran has played 2,611 snaps at center during his career, according to Pro Football Focus, while Ratledge did not play the position at Georgia. Other players to keep an eye on for the interior offensive line spots are veterans Trystan Colon and Kayode Awosika, and rookie Miles Frazier. MORE:Lions DT Levi Onwuzurike to miss 2025 season

Lions DL Levi Onwuzurike out for season with ACL surgery, setback for team with ailing Alim McNeill
ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Detroit Lions defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike is out for the season after having knee surgery, a setback for a franchise that was counting on him to fill in for Alim McNeill. Lions coach Dan Campbell made the announcement on Sunday morning, just before his team had the NFL's first training camp practice of the year. The 27-year-old Onwuzurike started in a career-high 11 games last season, including Detroit's loss to Washington in the divisional round. His playing time increased when McNeill had a season-ending knee injury in December. McNeill, who signed a $97 million, four-year contract extension last October, is out indefinitely. Onwuzurike's injury gives rookie defensive tackle Tyleik Williams a chance to play a significant role when the two-time defending NFC North champions kick off the season Sept. 7 at Green Bay. Detroit drafted the former Ohio State standout with the 28th pick overall in the NFL draft. The 6-foot-3, 334-pound Williams started 13 games for the national champion Buckeyes and had 46 tackles, including eight for losses and 2 1/2 sacks. The Lions will also lean on 31-year-old defensive tackle DJ Reader and newly acquired veteran Roy Lopez, who started 16 games last season for Arizona and has 50 career starts with the Cardinals and Houston Texans. ___ AP NFL:
