Chris Hughes 'fears he'll be phased out of This Morning job' as ex Olivia Attwood bags presenting gig and becomes 'golden girl of ITV daytime' - with bosses 'scrambling to keep them apart'
The pair first got together on the third series of Love Island in 2017, going on to feature in their own reality show Crackin' On before quickly splitting acrimoniously.
They have gone on to develop separate careers in the limelight, as some of the most successful stars to come out of the ITV2 dating show.
Olivia, 34, is now a regular Loose Women panellist as of 2023 and it was announced last month she would become a summer host on This Morning.
Meanwhile, Chris, 32, has recently re-entered the spotlight for his romance with American musician JoJo Siwa, 22, which developed in the Celebrity Big Brother house earlier this year.
Olivia has been vocal about her criticisms of this relationship - and now, Chris, also a contributor on This Morning, fears the two will clash again on the ITV chat show, according to an insider.
It is understood Olivia joining the programme has caused difficulties behind the scenes.
And Chris - who has worked as a roving reporter on the show since exiting the Big Brother house in April - is believed to be particularly anxious about it.
Sources told The Sun he had been hoping to capitalise on a growing relationship with ITV bosses to get a more regular showing on the programme this summer - perhaps in the studio or even on the sofa.
They say that with Olivia's regular slot on Loose Women, Chris did not expect her to cross over to This Morning.
And as he was happy in his relationship and busy with work, with post-Big Brother about the romance dying down, he felt he was in for a more stable period.
So, it all makes her arrival feel like 'a huge blow' and 'the last thing he wants'.
'He doesn't want to have to do live crosses to his ex in front of the nation - it's so awkward and he feels like the viewers will be scrutinising their every interaction and every little facial expression will be analysed', sources explained.
A friend of Chris' added that as Olivia is now a main presenter and he is a contributor, he fears in a toss-up he would be 'more expendable'.
'Liv's basically the new golden girl of ITV daytime', they said, 'and he worries he's going to be phased out.'
They went as far as to say he would even actively leave to avoid drama: 'He's also really not someone who likes conflict so he would rather walk away.'
The friend said Chris also feels insulted by public comments Olivia has made about his time on Big Brother and with JoJo - especially as he never mentions her publicly and has always spoken about her positively.
While he was in the house, Olivia said in a video posted to TikTok she had to go to therapy after dating her fellow Love Islander.
The presenter also called his relationship with JoJo, who is around ten years younger than him, 'creepy'.
'The therapy was expensive and now I'm going to have to go back for another round because I'm getting trolled on this app and because every weird, creepy thing that happens, I'm getting tagged in it', she explained.
Olivia - who returned to footballer ex Bradley Dack after splitting with Chris, marrying him in 2023 - also suggested Chris was hamming things up in the Big Brother house.
'[Some] people, they go on reality TV, they are one person and when you experience them off camera… It's like shapeshifters', she said.
When questioned directly on the social media platform for her thoughts on Chris and JoJo's relationship, she hinted he was staging a publicity stunt: 'She's really famous.'
It is believed Olivia is not nearly as bothered by potentially crossing paths with Chris on the programme, according to a friend of hers - as the prospect had not even occurred to her.
Though she 'wouldn't relish' having to speak to him, she would remain professional and focus on doing the job at hand, they added.
Olivia and Chris' relationship turned frosty pretty much as soon as they left the villa.
They split up during production for their reality show Crackin' On, in March 2018, only seven months after Love Island - with the number of episodes quickly cut.
She has even admitted they 'hated' each other after exiting the villa, calling the relationship 'toxic' and saying they were 'horrible' together.
Bosses are determined to keep the pair apart on This Morning, it is thought, and have committed to not putting them on air at the same time.
There is believed to be room for both of them, especially as ITV is used to keeping feuding presenters apart - making no secret of this on shows like Loose Women.
This Morning has been dogged with controversy in recent years with long-time co-presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield falling out.
Phillip stepped down in May 2023 after publicly admitting to having a 'consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning '.
The presenter, who had come out as gay in February 2020, said the affair was 'unwise but not illegal'.
Holly said in a public statement that when the news of his affair broke, she asked him directly if it was true, which he denied - and she was later hurt to discover he had lied.
He said in an interview with the BBC he texted her to apologise for this lie - but she never replied.
In her return to This Morning in June 2023 after a short break, Holly said she felt 'worried, shaken, troubled, let down and full of questions' due to his actions.
The pair unfollowed each other on social media four months later, before Holly left the show after a man was arrested for plotting to kidnap and murder her.
They are believed to no longer be on speaking terms, with Phillip angry she did not publicly defend him.
And viewers were widely unsure if there was enough chemistry between Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley (pictured on the show earlier this week) when they became the programme's main presenters in April 2023
She reportedly told him she did not want to 'feed the narrative' and she was advised by ITV bosses not to respond publicly.
Former This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford has also had issues with Phillip, reportedly filing a formal complaint when he cut her off once.
Her ex-husband and former This Morning co-host Eamonn Holmes has also publicly criticised Phillip in recent years, as 'addicted to fame', a 'liar' and 'delusional'.
Even in the current era of the show, Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary have admitted it took them a while to form the close working relationship they now have.
And viewers were widely unsure if there was enough chemistry between Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley when they became the programme's main presenters in April 2023.

Fiona Phillips husband shares 'daily torment' as Alzheimer's takes grip
Fiona Phillips was tragically diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2022 and now her husband Martin Frizell has opened up about her their daily struggles as the condition has taken over both their lives. Fiona Phillips husband Martin Frizzell has remained steadily by her side following her Alzheimer's diagnosis. The former This Morning producer, who has been married to Fiona for 28 years, opened up on the heartbreaking reality of her health decline. Fiona was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's in 2022 but didn't publicly share her diagnosis until 2023. Both of her parents and her uncle also had the brain disease, which still stands as the most common form of dementia across the UK. It has remained the nation's primary cause of death for a decade, making it a deeply personal pain for Martin as he witnesses his wife of nearly three decades battling the condition. "I used to say good days and bad days, now I just say bad days or wretched days, I think wretched is a great word for it," he revealed during a recent BBC Newsnight interview, as reported by the Mirror. He also shared how the illness has impacted his wife, as he continued: "In the cab ride, 35 minutes, she asked me 72 times, where are we going?'" It comes following a recent interview when Martin gave an update on Fiona's health, in a heartbreaking revelation that she often doesn't recognise him as her husband. He admitted that she once believed she was being kidnapped, unaware of who he was. The former TV star has been opening up about his wife's condition prior to the release of their upcoming joint autobiography, Remember When: My Life with Alzheimer's. Speaking to Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary on This Morning, he revealed: "In the book there's a photo of her looking great and smiling but what you don't know is she thought I kidnapped her." Candidly discussing the heartbreaking nature of the illness, Martin explained Fiona often asks to 'go home' to her mum and dad, heartbreakingly unaware they have passed away. "She does recognise me most of the time - she doesn't quite know I'm her husband - but she knows who I am. Every now and then she'll want to go home to her parents and I haven't the heart to say 'they aren't here'," Martin explained. Fiona, 64, originally believed she was experiencing menopausal changes when she began suffering from "brain fog and anxiety". The mum-of-two later received the same tragic diagnosis of both her own parents, having previously cared for them herself. Martin, who presented This Morning for a decade, quit his role in February to look after Fiona. In extracts from their book featured in the Daily Mail, he described his wife's current needs. "It is January 2025 as I write this, and Fiona needs a lot of help," Martin stated. "She needs help showering and brushing her teeth. She can do these things physically, but is unable now to think about how she should do them... "I wash Fiona's hair because she wouldn't know what shampoo or conditioner to use or how wet her hair needs to be or that she must rinse the soap suds out afterwards. And most nights I'll say, 'Right, we need to brush our teeth before we go to bed,' and I'll put the toothpaste on the brush and hand it to her." While Fiona is capable of dressing herself, Martin pointed out that she doesn't always get it "correctly" and may wear items inside out. He also shared that she grows attached to certain clothes, preferring to wear them repeatedly.

Dancing on Ice stars Torvill and Dean's huge net worth after retiring
New figures from Torvill and Dean's company accounts reveal they have a very healthy bank balance - and could earn even more next year Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are worth a cool £5 million as they hang up their boots and retire from ice skating. The pair were judges on Dancing on Ice for 19 years until it was announced the ITV show would not return in 2026. They then went on a farewell tour of the UK called 'Our Last Dance', playing huge shows in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow before performing for the final time together in their beloved hometown of Nottingham on July 12. Now Jayne, 67, and Christopher, 66, are set to enjoy a fruitful retirement as accounts for their skating company Waikiki Limited revealed they've amassed assets of £5 million, including a whopping £620,000 in cash. That's £586,000 more than they earned the previous year. And next year's earnings following their latest tour could be even more, as these accounts only cover the period up to 27 October 2024. Dancing on Ice, which had aired since 2006, came to an end in March 2025. The most recent final, won by Coronation Street star Sam Aston managed to pull in just 2.7 million viewers – a staggering decline from the viewing figures it once had, with an estimated 12 million tuning in during previous years. Announcing the show wouldn't be returning next year, an ITV spokesperson said: "Following another successful series earlier this year, Dancing On Ice will be rested in 2026 with no current plans for another series. "We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the cast and crew who have worked on the show since 2006, and over the previous 17 series, for all of their hard work both on and off the ice." But despite a dip in viewing figures, former Dancing on Ice pro Alex Murphy said it was more likely the fact Torvill and Dean announced they would be retiring this year that led to it being shelved. She told The Sun: "Torvill and Dean are national treasures. They are fantastic people, and the most iconic skaters in the skating world as a whole, not just England, and I think Britain sometimes doesn't recognise that, or even notice that they are iconic to the world. "We are obsessed with them in my industry as a skater. I grew up watching them, my mother grew up watching them. They are so iconic. So it's their show. I just love that. It's their show. So whenever they're ready, I think, then that's when it will go.' The ice skating icons shot to fame in 1984 after their legendary bolero dance saw them secure a gold medal and 12 perfect 6.0 scores at the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo in a performance that was watched by 24 million Brits alone - making it one of the most-watched TV events in British history. Jayne recently revealed that they managed to work together and stay friends for the past 50 years because they never married and their relationship was always platonic. Speaking to BBC Breakfast, she said of their partnership, which began when they were just 15: "It was all just very new for both of us. As we skated together a few more times, I think we both realised that we both had a passion for it, and we both wanted to get better. Keep doing it, practice, get better. "And I think that's what kept us going all these years. I always say that we never got married, so that's why we are still best of friends and still love working together." Reflecting on their final performance, Christopher said their journey now 'feels complete.' He added: "After the tour finishes in Nottingham, we'll be hanging up the skates as Torvill and Dean. Will it be a sad moment? Of course! We climbed up the mountain, saw the beautiful views, won a few medals and we're able to bow out on our terms. The journey feels complete."

Lauren Lyle is best known for her role as Marsali MacKimmie Fraser in Outlander, but she's returning to screens as Karen Pirie in the second season of the ITV detective series Lauren Lyle is set to grace our screens once again as Karen Pirie in the second series of the ITV detective drama. The 32-year-old actress is perhaps most recognised for her portrayal of Marsali MacKimmie Fraser in Outlander, where she stars alongside Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan. Her acting repertoire also includes roles such as Jade Antoniak in BBC's Vigil, as well as parts in Netflix's Toxic Town and The Bombing on Pan Am 103. On the theatrical front, Lauren has shone in productions of The Crucible, Wuthering Heights, Consensual and Merchant of Venice. She first made a name for herself on the West End after relocating to London at 19, which was swiftly followed by her television debut on BBC Three's BBC Comedy Feeds, in an episode titled Radges, reports the Express. Subsequent appearances included a stint in Holby City, and a starring role opposite Sean Bean in the BBC drama Broken. Her breakthrough role arrived in 2017 with Outlander, and the following year saw Lauren feature in the film adaptation of Fiona Shaw's novel Tell It to the Bees, alongside Anna Paquin and Holliday Grainger. In addition to her acting career, Lauren hosts a podcast, She's A Rec, where she engages guests in discussions about their favourite albums, films, books and influential female heroes. Her portrayal of the intrepid young Scottish detective Karen Pirie earned her the accolades of Best Actress - Television and Favourite Scot on Screen at the 2023 Bafta Awards Scotland. Lauren previously opened up to The Sunday Post about her journey to stardom, recalling her move to London where she lived with four strangers and juggled various odd jobs while chasing her dream. She recounted: "I came to London to audition for drama schools and came close but didn't get in. I think I'd only been to London once before as a kid but didn't remember it." Her passion was undeniable as she expressed: "I was so hungry for it, and being around other actors in this world was so thrilling and I knew this was what I wanted to do and the place to do it." Despite having what she described as "deluded confidence" and a competitive nature, Lauren shared that she worked as a dog walker, handed out flyers, manned reception desks, and even sorted stock at Zara for months before landing transformative roles in Outlander and Broken, which both came her way within weeks of each other. Reflecting on the tough times, she said: "It was bleak at times but I loved going to the theatre and seeing this life dangled in front of me. It was quite inspiring." Away from the limelight, Lauren maintains a private life, with her social media accounts highlighting her career achievements and travel experiences. In the 2023 interview with The Sunday Post, she did share a glimpse into her personal life, confirming her relationship status and revealing that her boyfriend joined her in celebrating the Baftas. She divulged: "My parents are coming - my dad has a new velvet jacket to go with his tartan troos - as is my boyfriend, who is South-African-Australian, but we've recently discovered he has lots of Scottish heritage, so he might wear a kilt."
