Not Playing Kuldeep Yadav Hurting India? 'He's In Top Form, Can't Expect Him To Score 100'

Kuldeep Yadav is yet to get a game in the ongoing England tour and his childhood
With the series on the line, is this the right time to include Kuldeep Yadav in India's playing XI for the must-win fourth Test at Manchester?
Is Kuldeep's childhood coach Kapil Yadav is to be believed, then yes.
The left-arm wristspinner has been consigned to the bench in the first three Tests of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England which India now trail 1-2. The Shubman Gill-led and Gautam Gambhir coached visitors have preferred Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar to look after the spin department.
While Kapil feels that with India doing well, Kuldeep's including doesn't some to be a big concern right now but does add that the team is getting hurt by not using the spinner at the right team given he's in top form.
'Kuldeep not playing doesn't seem to hold much value in the current context, because Team India has been playing well. In the third Test, many expected him to feature, but the fast bowlers did the job and picked up wickets," Kapil told news agency IANS.
'Kuldeep Yadav is in top form right now. He was lethal during the ODI World Cup and bowled brilliantly throughout the tournament. Not playing him at the right moments has cost India heavily. In the recent matches, it's the batters who have failed, not the bowlers," he added.
While Kuldeep has been a regular feature in India's white-ball teams, he continues to be behind in the pecking order when it comes to Test cricket. Since making his debut in March 2017, he has managed to play in just 13 Tests but his record in them has been more then impressive: 56 wickets at 22.16 and four five-wicket hauls.
With India aiming for more depth in their batting order by packing it with allrounders ahead of specialist bowlers, Kapil said, 'You can't expect someone like Kuldeep or even Bumrah to score 100 runs – that would be unrealistic."
Kapil said he has spoken to Kuldeep and asked him to be ready to step up whenever the opportunity comes his way.
'I've spoken to Kuldeep recently, and I told him to stay fit and be ready to deliver whenever given a chance. All we can do is hope – the final decision lies with the coach and the captain. But there's no doubt that Kuldeep is currently one of the finest and most senior spinners in the country," he said.
'Yes, his morale is high, but deep down he must also be wondering when he'll get his chance – after all, he's only human. He can be a crucial asset for Team India in Manchester. I spoke to him; he's focused," he added.

'The best team that Ive played for...': Anderson speaks on Englands 2011 Ashes series winning unit

London [UK], July 20 (ANI): Former England pacer James Anderson described the unit which won the 2011 Ashes series in Australia as the "best team he had played in" for Three Lions, saying that several members of the group were at "peak of their powers". Anderson was speaking on Sky Sports about the landmark series win. In 2010-11 season, England crushed Australia by 3-1 in their own territory, their first win in Australia since 1986-87. It was their second-successive Ashes series win on the trot, with left-handed batter Andrew Strauss at the helm of a powerful England side. Experienced star Anderson along with Stuart Broad, Chris Tremlett, Steven Finn Tim Bresnan formed a great pace unit. Graeme Swann was the spin powerhouse of the side. As far as batting was concerned, skipper Strauss, Alastair Cook, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott formed a formidable group. Speaking on Sky Sports about the side, Anderson said, "I think that was probably the best team that I have played in for for England. We had a group of players that were all reaching the the peak of their powers. We'd all played sort of 60 tests or more. So we had experience as well. And yeah, it was 24 years since we won in Australia and to win there and also for me personally to contribute especially, I had a bit of a sort of rough time leading up to that where I had not performed well away from England. So to do it in Australia and yeah to have a contribution towards a winning series was was great." Anderson pointed out that all of their three wins were by an innings margin. "We scored loads of runs. Alastair Cook was was amazing on that tour. I think he got 700 runs. So yeah, we we did it in a a great way," he added. The 42-year-old also recalled flying back home to welcome his second daughter during a "greuelling" three month tour. "So, like I I think I slept for like 2 weeks after when I got home. It was just an amazing amazing experience and it is hard to sort of describe when as I said we we have not won there for such a long time. We have not won there since. So, it is obviously a special thing to achieve," he added. Cook (766 runs in five Tests at an average of 127.66, with three centuries and two fifties) and Anderson (24 wickets in five Tests averaging 26.04 with three four-fers) topped the batting and bowling charts. England have a chance to achieve their first Ashes series win after 14 years in Australia once again, with the first Test starting at Perth from November 21 onwards. (ANI)

Average day for Bhatia and Rai at British Open

Agency: PTI Last Updated: Portrush (Northern Ireland), Jul 20 (PTI) Indian American golfer Akshay Bhatia shot a 1-under 70 in the third round to be Tied 34th at the British Open here. Bhatia had two birdies on the seventh and the ninth and seemed to be ready to get more before two bogeys on the back nine. Indo-British Aaron Rai, who had shown a lot of promise in the first eight holes on the first day, seemed to have lost that momentum. He shot even par 71 and was 18 places down on his second round to be T-44. Sahith Theegala had missed the cut. Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler continued his dominant performance with a bogey-free 4-under 67 that included an eagle and two birdies as he moved to 14-under and four clear of the field. Pacer Anshul Kamboj added to India squad as cover for Akash Deep, Arshdeep

Manchester, Jul 20 (PTI) Pacer Anshul Kamboj has been added to the India squad in England as cover for Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh, who are racing against time to be ready for the fourth Test beginning here at the Old Trafford on July 23. Akash Deep, who is dealing with a groin niggle, played in the second and third Test against England at Birmingham and Lord's respectively, while left-arm pacer Arshdeep is yet to feature in a match in the on-going series. There is no clarity as yet on Akash Deep's availability, while Arshdeep is unlikely to be available for selection for the Manchester Test, and therefore the selectors decided to call Kamboj, PTI has learned. Arshdeep copped a blow on his left hand while trying to stop a shot from Sai Sudharsan on his follow through during the net session at Beckenham on Thursday, which necessitated the bandaging of his bowling arm. 'We'll take a call on the combination we play, particularly given the Arshdeep situation as well, we'll make that call closer to Manchester," assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate had said. 'He took a ball while he was bowling…it's just a cut, so we have to see how bad the cut is. Obviously the medical team has taken him off to see a doctor and obviously if he needs stitches or doesn't need stitches that's going to be important to our planning for the next few days," he added. The 24-year-old Kamboj is a worthy addition to the squad after his impressive effort for India A against the England Lions in two side games prior to the Test series. He took five wickets across four innings at Northampton and Canterbury while moving the ball appreciably and finding disconcerting bounce on occasions. The Haryana pacer is a hit the deck seam bowler and is being looked as a future prospect as Mukesh Kumar is already on the wrong side of 30s while Harshit Rana is yet to find his strides in red ball cricket. Kamboj shot into fame after taking all 10 wickets in an innings against Kerala last year in a Ranji Trophy match at Lahli. He is only the third bowler to achieve that feat in the Ranji Trophy after Bengal's Premangsu Chatterjee (1956-57) and Rajasthan's Pradeep Somasundaram (1985-86). Overall, he took 34 wickets from six matches in the last edition of the premier domestic red-ball tournament.
