Manhunt intensifies for Arkansas suspect likely injured in fatal attack of couple
Arkansas State Police released the composite sketch Monday night depicting a man wearing a baseball hat. Police called the man a "person of interest" who was seen in the park on Saturday.
Clinton Brink, 43, and Cristen Brink, 41, were found dead Saturday afternoon on a walking trail in the park. Their young daughters, ages 9 and 7, were uninjured and are safe with family members, police said.
While authorities have not shared details on a possible motive or how the couple was killed, state police released a statement with the sketch, saying the suspect "likely sustained an injury while attacking the couple." No further details were immediately given.
The couple's family released a statement on Monday, asking for privacy and for the public to share any information that could help with the investigation with authorities.
"Clinton and Cristen died heroes, protecting their little girls and they deserve justice," the statement said. "They will forever live on in all of our hearts."
The family had just moved from South Dakota to the small city of Prairie Grove in northwest Arkansas, and their water had been connected less than two weeks ago, Mayor David Faulk said. Clinton Brink had been scheduled to start a job as a milk delivery driver Monday in the nearby Fayetteville area, according to Hiland Dairy, his employer.
Police described the suspect as a White male with a medium build, who was seen wearing a long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, dark pants, a dark ballcap, sunglasses and fingerless gloves. He was also carrying a black backpack, police said.
The suspect was also seen driving toward a park exit in a black, four-door sedan – possibly a Mazda with tape covering the license plate. The vehicle may have been traveling on State Route 170 or 220, police said.
Authorities have urged parkgoers who were at Devil's Den on Saturday to check their photos and videos for possible images of the suspect.
The bodies of the couple were taken to the state crime lab, which will look to determine the manner and cause of death.
Devil's Den is located about 140 miles northwest of Little Rock. The remote 2,500-acre park features hiking trails and rock formations.

"Today's media seems to conflagrate over violence only when the perpetrator is White and the victim is Black. Then the cameras roll, protests erupt, and hashtags fly." The Media Research Center's NewsBusters analyzed ABC's "Good Morning America" and "World News Tonight," "CBS News Mornings" and "Evening News," and NBC's "Today" and "Nightly News" and found no coverage of the horrific viral brawl in Cincinnatti in the days immediately following the event. Woodson, who has authored multiple books, including "A Pathway to American Renewal: Red, White, and Black," believes that "the mainstream media buries the incident or ignores" violence when the races are reversed and in cases of "Black-on-Black" crime. "Consider the tragic case of Ariana Delane, the 4-year-old niece of George Floyd, who was shot and wounded while sleeping beside her grandmother as gunfire hit their apartment. Despite the horror of her story, it received nowhere near the national attention that followed her uncle's death," Woodson wrote. "Both the girl and Floyd deserved to live in peace, yet there is national outrage when a Black man is killed at the hands of police but silence when Black children are the collateral victims of the senseless violence plaguing our cities every day." Woodson added that "journalists mostly ignored" that Blacks were frequent perpetrators during a 2018 spike in violent incidents against Asian-Americans. "The truth would have broken the media's worldview that Black Americans are always innocent victims," he wrote. "We teach our children that to be Black is to be permanently victimized and that to be white is to be perpetually guilty," Woodson continued. "Americans should renounce any schema in which one race is guilty and another innocent. That is the path to national ruin." Woodson also founded the Woodson Center, which aims to "empower community-based leaders to promote solutions that reduce crime and violence, restore families, revitalize underserved communities, and assist in the creation of economic enterprise," according to its website.

Rash of car thefts under investigation in Arlington Heights, police say
Arlington Heights police are investigating a rash of car thefts targeting Hyundais over the last week. Police said last Tuesday, July 28, a man told police his silver Hyundai was stolen from a paring lot in the 300 block of North Salem Avenue during the overnight hours. The next night someone stole a blue Hyundai from a parking lot in the 200 block of North Kasper Avenue sometime between 8 p.m. and 2:20 a.m. the next day. Then, early Wednesday morning, someone stole a black Hyundai from a driveway in the 900 block of East Olive Street. Over the weekend a man also reported to Arlington Heights police that someone broke into his blue Mazda in the 3400 block of West Payton Place and stole his wallet. The thefts are under investigation. Arlington Police have not released any further information.
