Steelers insider predicts bad news on Terry Bradshaw having his number retired
Terry Bradshaw is one of the greatest Steelers QBs of all time — and to honor the four Super Bowls he won with Pittsburgh, no other player has donned his legendary No. 12 since he left. However, the number isn't officially retired — and insider Gerry Dulac recently stated it may take a while.
During Wednesday's Steelers chat on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Dulac was asked for an update on when Pittsburgh will retire Bradshaw's No. 12 — and the Steelers insider provided some bad news:
"I don't think it's happening anytime soon."
His pessimism is founded in reality, however, as only three Steelers have had their jerseys officially retired: Ernie Stautner, 'Mean' Joe Greene, and the late, great Franco Harris.
Stautner joined the Steelers in 1950 — playing in 173 games over his 14 years with Pittsburgh — and his contributions to the Steel City earned him the honor of having his No. 70 jersey retired in 1964. Arguably one of the greatest defensive linemen in NFL history, Greene's 181 games with Pittsburgh over a 13-year span earned his No. 75 the distinction of being the second number retired, in 2014. Harris was the third and most recent Steeler to have his number honored for eternity — as his No. 32 was retired on the 50th anniversary of the Immaculate Reception in 2022.
All three of these Steelers legends were honored with having their numbers officially retired — but Bradshaw will likely have to settle for the unofficial recognition for the time being.

"All the essence of what football is about, he emphasizes it," Ramsey said. "Toughness, being well-conditioned... it ain't no gray area. It's black and white. This what we about around here. Were y'all tough today? Were you well conditioned? Were you running to the ball? Were you on your alignment, your assignment, your technique? Like, it ain't no excuses." Ramsey, a three-time first-team All-Pro, is entering his 11th season in the NFL. He spent the last two years in Miami and made the Pro Bowl in 2023 despite missing seven games. Prior to his stop in Miami, Ramsey played three and a half years in Los Angeles with the Rams. He was part of the team that won the Super Bowl in 2021. Pittsburgh lists him as the first-team nickel cornerback on the latest depth chart with Joey Porter Jr. and Darius Slay at the outside cornerback spots. Porter Jr. is the lone returning starter from last season when the Steelers had one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL (27th in yards allowed). Pittsburgh still made the playoffs as a 10-7 wild-card team and has its eyes set on another playoff berth with Rodgers at quarterback. The Steelers won their preseason opener against Ramsey's former team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, 31-25. They host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 2 of the preseason on Saturday, Aug. 16. Steelers' Aaron Rodgers suffers apparent leg injury, HC Mike Tomlin gives positive update
Injuries have hit the Steelers hard over the past few weeks — and many believed 20-year veteran QB Aaron Rodgers might've been the latest. At the final day of training camp, Rodgers was spotted with his right leg heavily bandaged and iced — with reports and images of the incident causing some panic to set in on social media. This was hardly the news Steelers fans were looking for with less than 30 days until the regular season opener versus the New York Jets — that was until HC Mike Tomlin downplayed the injury entirely. "He just got stepped on,' Tomlin told the media on Tuesday. 'It was nothing of any significance. He finished his work.' Despite Tomlin's optimism, ESPN's Brooke Pryor reported Rodgers was "moving a step slower" to finish out practice. The situation is worth monitoring as the Steelers prepare for their second preseason matchup this Saturday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — but considering Rodgers was unlikely to play in the preseason before being stepped on, it's safe to say his first game snaps will take place versus his former Jets in Week 1.
