Plumber executed in 'brutal, targeted' suburban hit
The "very brutal and distressing" execution-style shooting of a young plumber in his driveway has all the hallmarks of a targeted hit, police say.
Two people are on the run after the shooting in Condell Park, in Sydney's southwest, on Monday night, that left the 23-year-old man dead.
CCTV of the incident shows the victim returning home around 10.30pm and backing his car into the driveway, before another car pulls up and parks him in.
A man holding what is believed to be a Glock pistol exited the second vehicle from the rear driver's side door and fired up to 10 bullets at the man.
At least four hit the victim, NSW Police Superintendent Rodney Hart said.
"He slumped to the ground at the front of his home and the offender returned to the hatchback," he said.
"We believe this is ... extremely brutal and violent execution-style murder is a targeted attack."
About 20 minutes later, police found a car in nearby Fairfield East, believed to have been used in the shooting, having been set on fire.
A Glock pistol was found inside.
The victim and his family are not known to police and there are no known links to organised crime, Supt Hart said.
"We believe he is a plumber and possibly working in his father's business," he said.
"We need to look at who he is involved with, who he knows and what he did leading up to this brutal attack.
"This has all the hallmarks of a targeted, brutal hit, so that is what we are treating it as."
Police believe the victim lived at home with his parents, along with adult sisters.
Detectives are asking for anyone with information, including CCTV, to contact Crime Stoppers.

Hit and run hunt: motorcyclist injured after street racers speed through red light
Two street racers are on the run from police after a motorbike rider was seriously injured when two cars sped through a red light at a busy intersection. Investigators have released footage of the two men, who allegedly ran from the scene of the crash in Noble Park, in Melbourne's southeast suburbs, on May 22. Two other people were arrested after the crash and charged with dangerous driving and other offences. A grey Ford hatchback and a grey Volkswagen Golf were seen racing on Princes Highway just before 2.30pm, police said. As the cars raced through an intersection, the Ford allegedly crashed into a 61-year-old Vermont South man riding a motorcycle. The man remains in the hospital, recovering from serious injuries. The driver and a passenger of the Ford got out of the car and fled the scene, police said. Police are calling for public assistance to identify the alleged street racers. The first man was described as Caucasian with a slim build, around 30 years old, and wearing a black hoodie, black shorts, and white runners. The second man, around 45 to 55 years old, was described as having an olive complexion and a solid build. He was wearing a black short-sleeved puffer jacket, a dark t-shirt, and blue jeans. The driver and passenger of the Volkswagen, a 22-year-old Melton woman and a 27-year-old Beaconsfield man, were arrested shortly after the crash. Both have been remanded as their cases remain before the court. Police believe the Volkswagen had false registration plates.
