Dak Prescott gives positive update on hamstring injury: 'If I had to play a game today, I definitely could'
Dak Prescott is confident that he will return in full form next season. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback, who underwent season-ending surgery on a hamstring injury in November, told reporters this week that he is "getting close" to full recovery.
Prescott spoke about his hamstring at the 35th annual Children's Cancer Fund gala in Dallas on Friday. The 31-year-old seemed optimistic about his short- and long-term health after months of rehab.

"If I had to play a game today, I definitely could do that," Prescott said. "It's about moving forward healthy to make sure I can play 17 (games), 20, whatever we get to when the time's right."
Prescott suffered the injury during the Cowboys' loss to the Atlanta Falcons in early November, with Dallas placing him on IR later that week. The quarterback provided an update in December, saying that his rehab was coming along but that he had "no hard timeline" for his return.
On Friday, Prescott seemed confident that he would return at full force in the fall — and potentially earlier team activities — though he did not want to rush the process.
"I'm getting close to where I want to be, I don't want to put a percentage on it," Prescott said. "I know we've got team activities coming up, imagine myself being involved in some sort if not all. Then again, I just understand my age, what I've had, what I've went through, it's about being my best in the fall. So I'm not rushing anything, but I'm where I want to be."

This is not the first time that Prescott has had to return from a significant injury. In 2021, Prescott came back after a season-ending ankle injury that required multiple offseason surgeries. A thumb injury also sidelined Prescott for five games in 2022.
When asked if he was approaching in rehab differently this time around, Prescott said that he was following the physical therapy plan that he and his doctors put together. As a result, Prescott said that he was progressing well — and that he might even be bettered by going through the ordeal.

Notre Dame offers new players in the 2027 and 2028 class following Mondays camp
Notre Dame offers new players in the 2027 and 2028 class following Mondays camp It is a big recruiting weekend for Notre Dame football, as they hosted multiple camps, but the excitement didn't stop as the week turned over. On Monday afternoon following another camp, the Irish sent out four news offers, to prospects across different classes. It's that time of year, when it's much easier to evaluate players when they are on campus, and it's clear that Notre Dame saw enough out of the quartet. Find out below the newest players to earn Irish offers, along with a quick recap of how each of them stands with Notre Dame. (Note: All rankings are according to the 247Sports Composite.) Tight end Korz Loken The 6-foot, 5-inch and 220-pounder is one of the nation's best, ranking as the No. 125 overall prospect in the 2027 class. The Wisconsin native has had a good spring with offers from Auburn, Florida State and others, but it will be hard to hold off the in-state Badgers. Linebacker Mikahi Allen The 4-star New Jersey linebacker fits the mold of what Notre Dame is looking for at 6-foot, 2-inches and 215-pounds. He's ranked as the No. 245 overall prospect of the 2027 cycle, and has a solid offer list that included Michigan, Penn State, and Florida State. The Irish have had good success recruiting Allen's home state, and hope that that continues. Darieon Prescott A very projectable frame at 6-foot, 6-inches and 220-pounds, Prescott is yet another player from Notre Dame neighboring state of Illinois to earn an offer. Many of them have found success in South Bend, and he could be another. Prescott does have an offer from Tennessee, but this one from the Irish should stand out at this early junction. He's not currently ranked in the 2028 class. Athlete Kameron McGee The 2028 athlete is one of the nation's best players, even though he's not ranked at the moment. With over 25 offers, the 6-foot, 3-inch and 234-pound McGee most likely will be able to go anywhere he desires. This recruitment will be tough, but the Irish had good luck with Illinois prospects. What it means It's pretty simple, you camp at Notre Dame, it significantly increases your chances for an offer. This system has worked well for the Irish, and it could play dividends with some of these most recent scholarships. Head coach Marcus Freeman has his hand in this as well, as he's been seen at many of these events. With 16 commitments in the 2026 class, it makes perfect sense to look ahead with these new offers.

Cowboys Headlines: Trevon Diggs expected at minicamp, news on Jaire Alexander's fit?
Cowboys Headlines: Trevon Diggs expected at minicamp, news on Jaire Alexander's fit? When mandatory minicamp officially gets underway at The Star in Frisco, two of the team's biggest question marks appear ready to put an exclamation point on their attendance. Trevon Diggs and Micah Parsons were already in the facility on Monday. For Diggs, the week will give the Cowboys an up-close look at the rehab he's been doing on his own. For Parsons, it's a leadership opportunity as his teammates watch how he handles his contract uncertainty. But we're also looking around the league at players on the hunt for new homes. Nick Chubb is taken, but how could his signing in Houston affect the Cowboys? We'll explore why Jaire Alexander could be worth adding to an already crowded CB room in Dallas, and we're wondering if there might be a QB3 competition coming from a UFL star. We'll look at two of the Cowboys' deep options at wide receiver heading into the 2025 season, we identify the biggest offseason move and it's not who you think, and we do a fit check with Dak Prescott to see if he's bringing a new look to the field this year. Plus, DeMarcus Ware weighs on on Brian Schottenheimer, Solomon Thomas's youth camp teaches more than football drills, and the latest on former Cowboy Kelvin Joseph. Dallas Cowboys to 'get a good look' at Trevon Diggs this week :: Link Diggs has been doing his knee rehab away from the team, but the reports making their way back to the Cowboys coaches have been positive. 'Our guys are keeping up with it and very pleased with where he is," said Stephen Jones. "We know who he's working with and feel good about it." Diggs is expected to be present at mandatory minicamp, where the training staff will see for themselves. Cowboys' Micah Parsons fulfills 'good night' promise to coach, reports ahead of minicamp :: Cowboys Wire Link While taking part in the latest TikTok trend, Parsons ended up telling head coach Brian Schottenheimer that he'd be in the building in Monday, one day ahead of mandatory minicamp. He was there, running on the treadmill and lifting weights. All signs point to his continued attendance at minicamp, even while waiting on a new contract. Cowboys should pounce as soon as 2x Pro Bowler owed $36 million hits open market :: Cowboys Wire Link The Packers couldn't trade cornerback Jaire Alexander, so they cut him instead. He's been injured a lot over the past two years, but he'll draw interest from several teams. The Cowboys would be wise to be one of them. There's no such thing as too many good corners, and while Dallas has several already, there are also question marks about nearly every one of them. He'd be a good investment that gives the team both depth and options. What DeMarcus Ware thinks of Brian Schottenheimer's emphasis on Dallas Cowboys' culture :: Dallas Morning News Link The Hall of Famer believes in what the new head coach is building in Dallas. 'When you bring the family atmosphere into the locker room, that's probably one of the most important things,' Ware said on radio Monday. 'Because now I know why that guy is playing the way he's playing. Or why he's playing — because of his young daughter, or his son, or his wife. I know why he's playing, and so I know how to push his buttons a little bit." Ware says the family element was largely missing when he was with the Cowboys, but he experienced it in Denver the year they won a Super Bowl. Pending Texans signing could have domino effect on Cowboys RB competition :: Cowboys Wire Link How could Nick Chubb joining the Texans still work out in the Cowboys' favor? There now seems to be a crowd in the RB room in Houston, and Dameon Pierce could be the odd man out. Pierce averaged 7.3 yards a carry in limited backup action in 2024 and had a league-long 92-yard score. Even without that jaunt, Pierce averaged over 5.1 yards a carry on his other attempts. He's exactly the kind of pickup the Cowboys could be interested in. Cowboys rumor connects UFL 'Spring King' QB as camp signing :: Athlon Sports Link KaVontae Turpin and Brandon Aubrey may have company in Dallas. Stephen Jones has hinted that the Cowboys could once again look to the UFL to sign some late talent. Many are wondering if it'll be Arlington Renegades quarterback Luis Perez. He's torched the spring league again and could provide some real competition for Will Grier as QB3. Prescott's summer flings to bubble WR will need to morph into substantial contributions :: Cowboys Wire Link A seventh-round draft pick entering his third season, wide receiver Jalen Brooks has been a frequent summer workout partner of Dak Prescott, but it hasn't translated to him being a factor during real game play. He's still buried on the depth chart; this year's camp could determine if he was just a Mike McCarthy project guy or if there's place for him in Schottenheimer's offense. Cowboys' Dak Prescott ditching signature look at OTAs is too good to be true :: The Landry Hat Link It looks as if Prescott could be moving away from the double-long-sleeved look he's sported the past several seasons. At least thus far in spring practice, he's been wearing just one arm sleeve, including on media day, when players record the official video introductions that get used on TV all season long. Cowboys WR hasn't taken snap in 6 years, holding on to hope :: Cowboys Wire Link Kelvin Harmon was a 2019 sixth-round pick and has done stints in the USFL and XFL. But that extra experience hasn't gotten him any closer to the field in an NFL contest. This summer, he looks to be fighting with Parris Campbell, UDFA Traeshon Holden, Jalen Brooks, Jalen Moreno, and Josh Kelly for a practice squad spot in Dallas. Controversial rookie outranks volatile FA as Cowboys most important 2025 addition :: Cowboys Wire Link His selection in the first round certainly wasn't flashy, but Tyler Booker is the kind of addition that can help the Cowboys win games in December. CBS Sports thinks he was the team's best move of the offseason. He should be a Day 1 starter and could help stabilize the pocket for Dak Prescott as the quarterback enters a pivotal year under a new head coach. Solomon Thomas hosts sixth annual free youth camp promoting football, mental health :: The Mothership Link He's new to the Cowboys, but not to Texas. The Coppell native didn't have far to go this year for his annual youth football camp, in which talking about mental health is a key component. "I lost my sister to suicide, and it took me through my own mental health journey," Thomas said. "I learned first-hand the importance of mental health and how it can affect you if you don't take care of it and if you believe these misconceptions about mental health." After Eagles' FA defections, do Cowboys or Giants have NFC East's best DL? :: Cowboys Wire Link Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, Brandon Graham, and Bryce Huff are a lot of production for Philly to replace. They're still better than Washington, but Dallas has moved in front. Parsons, Osa Odighizuwa, Dante Dowler, Marshawn Kneeland, Solomon Thomas, Sam Williams, and Donovan Ezeiruaku could be the nucleus of a special D-line. The Giants are still the cream of the divisional crop, thanks to Dexter Lawrence... and drafting Abdul Carter will only help. Former Dallas Cowboys cornerback drove nearly 3 miles from scene of fatal crash on U.S. 75 before stopping, per court document :: WFAA Link The onetime second-round draft pick waited 40 minutes after his Saturday collision before calling the police, according to an affadavit. (And he called a relative before notifying police.) Authorities pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene and later found Joseph's BMW to be badly damaged. Police said Joseph appeared drunk and had slurred speech when they met with him; the cornerback admitted to having two glasses of wine before the crash but denied taking anything else. Browns, Joe Milton III Paired in Wacky Trade Proposal
Browns, Joe Milton III Paired in Wacky Trade Proposal originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Cleveland Browns have had enough conversations about the quarterback position for one offseason. Between signing Joe Flacco, trading for Kenny Pickett, and drafting two rookies, Cleveland has added more volume than talent to the quarterback room. The Browns left the 2024 season with the conference's worst quarterback play and will enter 2025 in a similar spot. Advertisement The best path forward is unclear, but it is likely to reveal itself in the coming months. Flacco, with over a decade of starting experience, makes sense as the frontrunner. Dillon Gabriel, the first of two quarterbacks drafted by the Browns, may have the backing of the coaching staff. Shedeur Sanders, who's more talented but slipped due to pre-draft concerns, could make the case for playing time, too. The answer to Cleveland's long-term quarterback issue might not be on the roster, but it is abundantly clear that there is little use in adding another passer to this mess. Yet, the Browns were paired with freakish quarterback Joe Milton III in a wacky trade proposal that sent Sanders to the Dallas Cowboys. The proposal coincided with speculation about acquiring Anthony Richardson as he stumbled his way into his third season with the Indianapolis Colts. 'But rather than take on the remaining two years of Richardson's four-year, $34 million contract, for a player who has played just 15 games in two seasons, winning eight, it may make more sense to flip Sanders for the high-upside Milton whose contract pays him just $3.2 million over the next three years,' Jonathan Vankin wrote. Advertisement 'Or — make another trade with Sanders and give up a Day Three draft asset for Milton.' Simply put, adding another unproven starter to the gaggle Cleveland has amassed already doesn't solve the issue. Milton spent his college career as a non-prospect, flashed just enough to be a sixth-round pick, and played meaningful snaps in a single game against the Buffalo Bills' B-Team. He'd be the most-talented passer in the room, sure, but if the Browns were looking for an unpolished gunslinger, they could have drafted one. Instead, they passed on the opportunity to trade for Milton and took two passers with more valuable picks. For better or worse, Cleveland is set to sleep in the bed it made earlier in the offseason. Further, there's little evidence to suggest that the Cowboys want to deal Milton. If his mobility creates a path for him to see sporadic time in a one-off package, he'd be a priority over Sanders. Dallas passed on Sanders – and the attention he'd bring – three times. Advertisement The Browns aren't in a position to waste draft capital on another backup-level quarterback, and the Cowboys can't afford to go into the season with a backup they don't trust. As uninspiring as it may be, Cleveland's quarterback room is probably set.
