Doechii criticizes Trump's use of ‘military force' against protesters
The BET Awards were heavy on nostalgia, but rapper and singer Doechii brought a very current event to the stage on Monday. While receiving the award for best female hip-hop artist, she referenced the ongoing protests against immigration raids happening in Los Angeles, California, where the ceremony was being held. 'As much as I am honored by this award, I do want to address what's happening right now outside of the building,' she said after noting that she grew up watching BET and it was her first award from the network. 'There are ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities in the name of law and order. Trump is using military forces to stop a protest.' 'I want y'all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us. What type of government is that?' she added. 'People are being swept up and torn from their families,' the Grammy-award winning artist continued. 'I feel it's my responsibility as an artist to use this moment to speak up for all oppressed people, for Black people, for Latino people, for trans people, for the people in Gaza.' Doechii ended her speech with a call to action as some in the audience gave her a standing ovation. 'We all deserve to live in hope and not in fear,' she said. 'And I hope we stand together, my brothers and my sisters, against hate, and we protest against it.' BET is the largest network dedicated to celebrating the Black community and its culture. Los Angeles has been the site of unrest for days as protests broke out against recent immigration enforcement action in the city. President Donald Trump ordered National Guard troops to the region, against the wishes of both Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom.

These Are the Top Pizza Places in Europe—and Why You Won't Find a Single Italian Spot on the List
Grab your napkins, maybe some crushed red pepper, and a little extra Parmesan, because it's time to celebrate the 50 best pizza places in Europe, excluding Italy. Yes, you read that correctly. 50 Top Pizza's list of the best pizzerias in Europe doesn't include a single mention of Italy. But before you spiral into a mozzarella-filled rage, know that this is on purpose, as the European nation and capital of all things pizza has its own dedicated list, simply because Italian pizzerias would blow everyone else out of the water. So really, think of this list as the "50 best pizza places in Europe outside of Italy list," instead. Now that we've got that out of the way, it's time to celebrate the other spots making a splash with their delicious pies. According to the experts behind the rankings, this year's top pizza spot on the continent is Napoli on the Road, located in the United Kingdom. "Napoli on the Road is much more than just a pizzeria: it is the symbol of a new era of Neapolitan pizza in the United Kingdom," the pizza rankings explained. "Led by the talented Michele Pascarella, awarded in 2023 as the best pizza maker in Europe, this project has revolutionized the concept of contemporary pizzeria. With locations in Chiswick and Richmond, every detail is designed to offer a dynamic and ever-evolving gastronomic experience: the menu changes every three months, following seasonality and the excellence of selected ingredients." It also noted that the shop's dough is a highlight as it offers "bold yet balanced combinations." Joining Napoli on the Road at the top of the list is Baldoria in Madrid, which won accolades for its "efficient and friendly" staff and inventive pies like the Bufala Fest, which comes topped with roasted San Marzano tomato sauce, confit cherry tomatoes, Parmesan chips, and basil pesto. Third place is a tie between Via Toledo in Vienna, Austria, and Sartoria Panatieri in Barcelona. Via Toledo took a top spot thanks to its "excellent fresh ingredients from Italy." The rankings added that in some pizzas, you will also "find a bit of the flavors of Puglia, the region of origin of Francesco and Chiara, the founders, which brings a nice element of creativity." As for Sartoria Panatieri, it won high praise thanks to not just its pies but also its fantastic selection of appetizers, wide selection of craft beers, and delicious desserts. "The desserts, obviously artisanal, are almost like grandmother's treats, and a must-try is the blueberry and mascarpone tart," the rankings stated. 50 Top Pizza explained that the top 20 pizza places in Europe are automatically put in the 100 Best Pizzerias in the World list, joining others from Asia-Pacific, the U.S., Latin America, and, of course, Italy. The final awards take place on Sept. 8 and will surely be the most delicious ceremony imaginable. See the full list of European winners at

Doechii Slams Trump Administration In Powerful BET Awards Acceptance Speech
Source: Kevin Winter / Getty Doechii was all smiles as she accepted the 2025 BET Awards for 'Best Female Hip Hop Artist.' After all, it's the 'Anxiety' artist's first BET Award. But instead of a traditional acceptance speech, she used her platform to bring awareness to the peaceful protest outside the Peacock Theater, which is being forcefully interrupted by authorities. 'I do want to address what's happening right now, outside the building,' she said passionately.'These are ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities. In the name of law and order, Trump is using military forces to stop a protest, and I want you all to consider what kind of government it appears to be — when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us.' Dozens of people have been detained and taken into custody during raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, prompting protests in the DTLA area, NBC News reports. 'People are being swept up and torn from their families, and I feel it is my responsibility as an artist to use this moment to speak up for all oppressed people,' she added. Per AP, an initial 2,000 Guard troops ordered by Trump started arriving Sunday, which saw the most violence during three days of protests driven by anger over Trump's stepped-up enforcement of immigration laws that critics say are breaking apart migrant families. These attacks on our civil liberties is more evidence of the Trump Administration's failure to the people. 'This isn't about public safety,' Gov. Gavin Newsom said. 'It's about stroking a dangerous President's ego.'
