Both being from Dallas, they began dating their senior year at Highland Park High School. "I had to woo her for a few years," Scheffler said with a laugh in 2023. While they met in high school, the couple spent some time apart in college. While Meredith attended Texas A&M, Scottie Scheffler went to the University of Texas, and they dated from a distance for all four years. 'At the beginning of high school I always thought he had a super humble ambiance about him, that he was just a really down-to-earth guy that doesn't take himself too seriously,' Meredith told Golf Digest of Scottie.
