Heeled flip flops aren't going anywhere! 7 outfits to wear now with the trending sandal

Cosmopolitan11-08-2025
Love 'em or hate 'em, heeled flip flops have proven to be the shoe of the summer. The surprisingly divisive sandal has been spotted adorning the feet of the most stylish of fashion girlies since early June, and more recently, completing every look amongst the street style set at Copenhagen Fashion Week last week.
Luckily, there's still plenty of time left in the szn to get maximum wear out of yours. And, if you have yet to invest, it's not too late as we guarantee you'll be wearing these well into September. We promise we're not trying to wish away summer, but when autumn does eventually roll around, simply swap your summer dress for tailored trousers and jeans – with the humble heeled flip flop elevating your ensemble in more ways than one.
Whether you're heading to work, out on date night, or catching up with your girls over brunch, trust us when we say this shoe is versatile. Below, find all the inspo you need on outfits to wear your heeled flip flops with right now and in the weeks to come.
A leather jacket is a wardrobe essential year-round, but especially come autumn. Add a Y2K twist with a pair of on-trend capri pants.
Nothing says effortless chic like an oversized t-shirt paired with a midi skirt. The key to pulling off this look is to keep your tee untucked. Don't worry, the minimal silhouette of your heeled flip flops keeps this 'fit from veering into sloppy territory. Leg warmers, optional.
Denim, linen, cargo, camel – we've been wearing knee-length (or Bermuda) shorts on repeat this summer and we plan to for weeks to come. The extra few inches provide a surprising amount of warmth, especially with a cosy knit jumper worn on your top half.
Take your heeled flip flops to work when worn with a sharp blazer and a maxi skirt. We have no issue with open-toes at work, and the kitten heel keeps things feeling smart rather than beach-y.
If the weather turns, don't worry about changing your footwear. Just add a trench coat to your look to keep things feeling seasonal.
Trousers look and feel autumnal, but the silky satin fabric keeps things from being too heavy. We'll be recreating this outfit for late summer evenings.
You don't have to hide your legs, though. If a mini is your go-to, counteract bare legs and heeled flip flops with a fluffy jumper.

Lily Collins Swapped Her Cutesy Raffia Tote for This Forgotten It Bag of the Early '00s

All products featured on Glamour are independently selected by Glamour editors. However, when you buy something through our retail links, Condé Nast may earn an affiliate commission. Getty Images What a difference a day bag makes! Lily Collins is currently in Italy shooting the next season of Emily in Paris (Emily's in Italy now, keep up), and looking fabulous on set as usual. As the titular American in the series, Collins is always dressed in something bold and bright, and in recent pics from the set she rocks a white skirt and a crop top with large black polka dots, her hair slicked back into a low pony. Mesh Mary Jane flats allow her to navigate the city's stone streets, while her door-knocker earrings give her a bit of edge. But it's the bag we're here to talk about. Or should we say bags… Filming on a bridge over one of the city's iconic canals, we see Lily/Emily holding the Marina Bag ($795) from L'Alingi; the limited-edition raffia style is currently sold out online, but this one shaped like a seashell is available for like half the price, soooooo. The bag suits the outfit's breezy summer vibe and the character's quirky style and personality, and it looks perfect for a day of running around the city getting into romantic trouble. Now compare that to this picture taken between scenes, when Collins, still in costume, is carrying her personal Balenciaga Le City bag. It completely transforms the look from cutesy to city chic. This is the difference a simple accessory can make, and why a person can never have too many bags. And to be clear, Collins herself has a completely different style take on the bag. She stepped out in a totally balanced, layered ensemble earlier this summer that included the bag, and when she's not in Emily in Paris mode, she's got her own minimalist, sporty vibe. Or in any case, her stylist does a great job. Either way, she looks great. Originally Appeared on Glamour Solve the daily Crossword

‘Embarrassed and insecure' Gen Z hates this millennial fashion staple: ‘It's body dysmorphia'

It's Z fitness fashion faux pas of the day. After reigning as choice activewear for more than 20-something years, 20-somethings online have officially declared workout leggings 'dead.' RIP to the grip. Advertisement Rather than breaking a sweat in the skintight togs, gym rat Gen Zers now prefer loose-fitting, baggy sweatpants or shorts while exercising, according to a recent report by Edited, a retail analysis group. 4 Gen Z gym buffs are ditching fitted leggings for baggy, loose-fitting sweats and shorts. BullRun – But the youngsters' sudden aversion to leggings — a millennial fashion fav — is less about style, and more about their self-image issues. Advertisement 'I'm so embarrassed and insecure about wearing leggings,' confessed a body-conscious belle in a trending clip. 'I hate how they fit me, how they're so tight on me and you can see, like, the structure of my legs.' 4 Online, young women claim that their hate for leggings in rooted in body-image issues. opolja – Those groans were echoed by a sea of Gen Zs who agreed, commenting, 'Leggings are so uncomfortable,' 'I f- -king hate leggings,' and 'It's body dysmorphia.' And their beef with the bottoms isn't just idle internet chatter — it's evident in sales and web searches, too. Advertisement Researchers for Edited found that consumer interest in leggings has plummeted from 46.9% to 38.7% since 2022. Due to the drop in demand, top athletic brands such as Nike and adidas have 'scaled back leggings investment' this year. (Lululemon fans can breathe easy as the Canadian imprint is still investing in the snug head-turners, per the findings). Athleisure lovers, namely fashionistas under age 27, are instead reaching for billowing, 'boxy' garb, according to Pinterest data featured in the study. 4 New data reveals that young adults are buying 'boxy,' oversized workout wear for comfort. pressmaster – Advertisement Investigators noted that, '58% of searches are from the 18 to 24 year-old demographic with popular pins showing oversized sweatpants and boxy T-shirts.' The experts attribute the rising fondness for lightweight, looser-fitting pants to Gen Z's preference for comfort over compression, as well as the influence of baggy clothes icons Billie Eilish and Zendaya. But team Z's loathing of leggings is nothing new. 4 Tastemakers like Billie Eilish and Zendaya have been hailed de facto leaders in the loose-fit over leggings charge. Ulia Koltyrina – The whiney whippersnappers have attempted to 'cancel' the Y2K-wardrobe staple for years, deeming them 'cringe' and 'cheugy' in viral vids. They've tried exalting yoga pants or 'flared leggings' to the original look's former glory. But, thus far, no bottoms have truly unseated the tried-and-true legging. But now, some Gen Zs are hoping workout shorts will finally give the clinging gear a run for their money. Advertisement 'As a gym girlie, one thing about me is, I'm a shorts girlie until the end of time,' vowed Danica, a TikTok fit-influencer. 'B—ch, I promise you, once you put on a good pair of shorts, you are never going to touch your leggings again.' Em, a dietician and trainer, separately voiced similar sentiments, saying, 'I feel so cute, sexy, hot, confident when I wear shorts to the gym.' 'But leggings, I hate.'

The Manhattan fashion designer found dead on a boat at the swanky Montauk Yacht Club was laid to rest in her native Ireland Wednesday — with her grief-stricken boyfriend telling mourners she had a way of 'lighting up every room.' Martha Nolan-O'Slatarra's funeral was held at the Cathedral of the Assumption in the tiny Irish town of Carlow — about 50 miles from Dublin — early Wednesday. The 33-year-old's heartbroken partner, Nicholas DiRubio, was among the loved ones spotted carrying her coffin from the packed church.
