Giovanni Pernice shows off body transformation after Strictly Come Dancing exit
Giovanni Pernice has shown off the impressive results of his body transformation a year after leaving Strictly Come Dancing. The pro dancer is no stranger to keeping himself in shape, but looked incredible in new photos he posted on Instagram.
The 34-year-old shared 'before and after' shots of his torso in the same pair of mulberry coloured trousers, which he says were taken just five weeks apart. "5 weeks in," Gio said as showcased his new six-pack and toned biceps.
Celeb pals like Gemma Atkinson, who is engaged to Gio's Strictly pal Gorka Marquez, were quick to comment underneath. The actress and radio host, who is also into her fitness and regularly posts updates for her 2.1 million followers, simply posted five clapping hands emojis.
While actress and TV presenter Bianca Guaccero, who Gio was partnered and won the Italian version of Strictly with, posted: "Strength and determination! Good job my love!!!" Fans also showed their support with one writing: "Looking good Gio X." Another fan joked: "Well done Gio but you would look gorgeous even with a paper bag on your head!"
A third commented: "Well done you - hard work and consistency pays off, and the mindset of a champ." A fourth encouraged: "Keep up the great work." A fifth said: "Didn't think you could improve on perfection, but Wow Gio!" While another flirty fan added: "You're very cuddly either way Gio!"
Italian dancer Gio quit Strictly last summer after nine years on the BBC show. It came after he faced allegations over his tough training methods from previous celebrity partners, including actress Amanda Abbington.
At the time he said he was 'surprised as his fans' after finding himself at the centre of 'abuse' claims. Amanda, 51, quit last year's Strictly series citing medical reasons. But she later went on to claim she suffered post traumatic stress disorder following her time on the show and that Gio had been "unnecessary, abusive, cruel and mean."
In a statement last year, Gio said vowed to 'clear his name' and told fans: "Those who have followed my journey on Strictly Come Dancing over the last decade will know that I am passionate and competitive.
"No-one is more ambitious for my dance partners than me. I have always striven to help them be the very best dancers they can be. This has always come from a place of love and wanting to win - for me and my dance partners. Thank you all once again for your continued love and support! Giovanni."
BBC bosses launched an investigation into 17 claims made by Amanda. Of those, six were upheld relating to verbal bullying and harassment. But the most serious allegations of physical aggression were dismissed.
In light of the investigation being completed, the BBC said: "We have assessed the complaints and we have upheld some, but not all, of the complaints made. We want to apologise to Amanda Abbington and to thank her for coming forward and taking part. We know this would not have been an easy thing to do."
Gio is now trying to move on from the scandal, but has continued to perform in his own live shows. Speaking out about his 'dark year', he exclusively told the Sunday Mirror: "Sorry for my language but 2024 can f**k off. I've been looking forward to seeing the back of it."
He added: "I'm not going to lie, there were dark moments in terms of, you know, this is finished, this is the end of my career. That was one of my down moments."

Coronation Street Mick actor Joe Layton 'set for Hollywood' after ITV soap exit
Coronation Street actor Joe Layton has played the role of Mick Michaelis on the cobbles since earlier this year but could soon be switching Weatherfield for Hollywood Coronation Street's Joe Layton, known for his role as the menacing Mick Michaelis, could be on the brink of a major Hollywood breakthrough. Joe burst onto the scene earlier this year as the ruthless thug Mick, alongside his partner Lou (Farrel Hegarty). Labelled as "nightmare neighbours," the pair quickly became notorious for causing chaos. In a shocking turn of events in May, Mick brutally murdered Weatherfield's beloved Craig Tinker ( Colson Smith) in a harrowing alcohol-fuelled attack. It was then revealed that he also regularly abused Lou adding to the disdain for his character from viewers who were shocked to see how truly evil he was capable of being. After Craig's tragic end, Mick found himself behind bars. However, this week saw an explosive development as he broke free from custody. In a desperate search for his child, Mick stabbed Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) before being caught again and sent back to prison. Now, with Mick's time on the cobbles drawing to a close, speculation is rife about actor Joe's next move with his frantic on-screen demeanour capturing the imagination of TV fans. Betway has provided odds on his next step that place Joe at a not too shabby 3/1 to hop over to rival soap EastEnders. But that isn't the only soap where he could show up, as Joe is also sitting at 5/1 to land a role on Channel 4's Hollyoaks. When it comes to reality TV prospects, he's got odds of 8/1 for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and 10/1 for Strictly Come Dancing where fans would get to learn more about him as opposed to his on-screen alter ego Mick. But it's not just small screen opportunities on the horizon for Joe. He could find himself making his way into the cinematic universe too. Bookies are betting that the big screen could come knocking and he might snag a role in a blockbuster Hollywood franchise. Joe currently stands at 16/1 to appear in a Marvel film, and 50/1 to potentially become the next James Bond. Mike Reading, spokesperson at Betway told the Daily Star: "After playing brutal villain Mick Michaelis on Coronation Street, Joe Layton is now a 3/1 shot to bring his bad-boy energy to EastEnders. "Having made headlines for his character's violent past and dramatic prison escape, Layton looks ready-made for the gritty world of Albert Square – pub bust-ups, family feuds, and a shady market hustle would suit him down to the ground! "Other potential next moves include jetting out to the jungle for I'm a Celeb (8/1), joining Strictly (10/1), or even a Marvel comeback (16/1) after previously starring in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but it's East London where punters think he's most likely to land next." Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

So proud of my boy. Onto the next chapter xx." In the image, Katie pouted for the camera and wore a full face of make-up. Harvey, who has Prader-Willi syndrome, septo-optic dysplasia, autism, and learning difficulties, looked delighted to be heading home, wearing a green shirt. It was only back in June that Katie revealed she had sent him back to college early after he caused damage to her TV. The mum-of-five revealed her shock at discovering that Harvey had become frustrated and smashed up her huge £3,000 television in the living room of her property. Katie documented the discovery on her Snapchat account before giving Harvey a dressing down for his actions and also confirming that she would be returning him to his college a day early as a result of his behaviour. The former glamour model uploaded a video in which she filmed Harvey's face and questioned him on his actions. She revealed she was woken up by him smashing the TV at around six in the morning. She asked him: "What has mummy just heard?" Harvey calmly replied: "Smashing the TV." Katie Price reveals son Harvey now weighs 30st as she gives update on his fat jabs and says 'I can't wait to see what he looks like' When she went on to ask him why he did it, Harvey appeared to answer that it had angered him as it was early in the morning. Katie later told her fans that he told her off-camera that he did not like what was on the screen but she appeared to rebuff this suggestions as she could be sure that there was nothing being shown. In the clip of her speaking to Harvey, she added: "You was going to college tomorrow to get some new meds [medication], but now when are you going? "You are going now." Harvey replied to this news by saying: "Oh god!" Katie insisted she had to spend the day getting a new TV and as such needed to send Harvey back to college before branding the whole ordeal as "sad". Harvey went on to apologise as he insisted he "would not do it again". Katie replied: "Well you've got to go to collage now and get some meds." Her decision for Harvey to go back to collage comes after she revealed that her 22-year-old son was due to start weight loss injections in order to control his ballooning weight. Harvey weight around 30st as a result of his many complex needs, including Prader-Willi syndrome, but Katie hopes the use of weight-loss drug Mounjaro will keep it under control. Speaking on her podcast with sister and co-host Sophie Price, Katie said: "Hopefully Harvey starts his Mounjaro this week, but we'll talk about that next week and I'll go through all of what's happening about that." The TV personality's eldest child has Prader-Willi syndrome, which sparks a constant desire to eat food and a permanent feeling of hunger which leads to obesity. Harvey battles a series of debilitating conditions including autism, septo-optic dysplasia, ADHD and oppositional defiant disorder. In a video posted in April, Katie revealed: 'I'm so heartbroken and gutted that his weight is just going up. 'I just googled it in stones, 188kg is just a few kg of being 30 stone. 'It's so life-threatening now, I'm still waiting for the doctors to get back to me starting on the mounjaro and his journey to a healthy life.' She continued: 'It's so sad his quality of life at the moment where he's so big, he just can't really do much." Katie is also mum to Junior and Princess Andre as well as Jett and Bunny Hayler.
