Semien's 250th career homer highlights Rangers' 5-1 victory over AL West-leading Astros
Eovaldi (7-3) limited Houston to five hits and a run with eight strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings for his third straight win.
Houston starter Hunter Brown (9-4) allowed five hits and four runs while striking out eight in five innings as the AL West leaders lost for the fifth time in six games. It was the second straight tough outing for the All-Star, who gave up a season-high six runs in his last start against Cleveland.
Wyatt Langford walked to open the second and the Rangers made it 1-0 when he scored on a triple by Evan Carter. There were two outs in the inning when Carter scored on a ground-rule double by Ezequiel Duran to push the lead to 2-0.
García's third homer in the last four games put Texas ahead 3-0 with two outs in the third inning.
Carter doubled to start the fourth and Kyle Higashioka singled before Carter scored on a sacrifice fly by Alejandro Osuna to make it 4-0.
The Astros cut it to 4-1 on a home run by Zack Short with no outs in the sixth inning.
Semien's shot with one out in the eighth inning was his second of the series and gave him 250 in his 13-year career.

CHICAGO (AP) — Wilyer Abreu homered twice and drove in three runs, and the Boston Red Sox beat the Chicago Cubs 6-1 on Sunday to avoid a series sweep. David Fry's three-run double clears way for Guardians win against A's

Angel Martinez chipped in with a single, double and solo home run for the Guardians, who have won eight of nine bridging the All-Star break. Rookie Nick Kurtz doubled twice and drove in a run for the A's, who won just twice in the six-game season series against Cleveland. The Guardians jumped on A's starter Jeffrey Springs (8-7) for single runs in the first two innings, getting RBI hits from Fry in the first and Austin Hedges in the second, before busting the game open at 5-0 in the fourth. Fry's three-run double, a grounder over third base, scored Johnathan Rodriguez, who had opened the inning with a double, as well as Will Wilson and Brayan Rocchio, both of whom had singled to load the bases with two outs. Fry, who had just seven RBIs in his first 32 games this season, had never previously driven in more than three runs in a game in his career. Springs was pulled after four innings, charged with five runs on nine hits. He struck out four without issuing a walk. And some of that has crossed the line even as the 27-year-old and the Lionesses have reached the semifinals at Euro 2025. 'From the start of the tournament I have experienced a lot of racial abuse,' Carter wrote in an emotional post on Instagram on Sunday. 'Whilst I feel every fan is entitled to their opinion on performance and result I don't agree or think it's ok to target someone's appearance or race.' Carter, who has made 49 appearances for England and plays for Gotham FC, says she will be taking a step back from social media. 'As ever I am grateful for all of the support from the genuine fans but I am taking this measure to protect myself in a bid to keep my focus on helping the team anyway I can,' she added. 'Our priority is Jess and giving her all the support she needs,' FA CEO Mark Bullingham said. 'We strongly condemn those responsible for this disgusting racism. They are in touch with the relevant social media platform, and we are working with police to ensure those responsible for this hate crime are brought to justice.'
