Video of Tesla Cybertruck being keyed goes viral with man denying the act

Yahoo25-03-2025
Mar. 25—Videos of a Tesla Cybertruck being keyed at the Omni Mount Washington Resort have gained much attention online with a man denying doing it while being questioned by police.
Carroll Police Chief Tadd Bailey said the department responded to the hotel just before 5 p.m. on Saturday to investigate the reported vandalism.
"The incident is under investigation by us and the Coos County Attorney's Office," the chief said.
He would not say if there have been any arrests or charges at this point.
Kerri Pouliot, who posted the video on the X social media platform, said the Cybertruck was vandalized within an hour of arriving at the hotel. The video posted on Monday had more than 3 million views before 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Cybertrucks have up to seven cameras mounted to the tailgate, doors, windshield, front wheel and front bumper. The footage can be uploaded to applications on smartphones.
Another video shows two men being questioned by police with one man denying he knew anything about the keying.
"You didn't key that Tesla?" an officer asked.
"No," the man said.
The officer then told the two men the incident was recorded.
The two men "didn't know or didn't care that they would be recorded. Charges pending! Class A felony in NH," Pouliot wrote.

Video shows Colombian TikToker Tatiana Martinez yanked from car during ICE arrest

A video posted on social media showed immigration agents yanking Colombian TikToker Tatiana Martinez from her vehicle during an arrest last week. Martinez was detained on Friday in Los Angeles while sitting inside her Tesla. She was streaming on TikTok when federal agents approached her vehicle, according to Newsweek. Footage shows three agents pull Martinez, whose real name is Leidy Tatiana Mafla-Martinez, out of the car and place her facedown on the ground as she screams. In another video, a person yells for someone to call 911 as Martinez lies motionless on the ground. Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary for the Department of Homeland Security, said in a statement that Martinez was detained because of a prior conviction of driving under the influence in Los Angeles. McLaughlin said Martinez came to the United States in 2022 and "was RELEASED by the Biden administration." "Under President Trump and @Sec_Noem, if you break the law, you will face the consequences," Homeland Security said in a post on X. The agency did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the social media videos. During her arrest, Martinez complained about shortness of breath and was given medical treatment, McLaughlin said, and is being held at a facility in Calexico, California. It's not clear if she has obtained an attorney. Martinez gained followers on TikTok after posting videos documenting the ICE raids under President Donald Trump's push for mass deportations, Newsweek reported. She also shared guidance on what people should do if Immigration and Customs Enforcement stop them. McLaughlin said that as agents were detaining Martinez, another person "unlawfully towed a government police vehicle." "He mocked and videotaped ICE officers chasing after him. Secretary [Kristi] Noem has been clear: Anyone who seeks to impede law enforcement will be found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," McLaughlin said.

Tesla owner in disbelief after reviewing unsettling footage: 'File a police report'

A post on the Tesla Model Y subreddit has highlighted a shocking incident: a night shift security guard was caught on camera apparently urinating on the original poster's car. The footage was captured by Tesla's Sentry Mode, a built-in security feature that uses the car's external cameras and sensors to monitor for suspicious activity while the vehicle is parked and locked. The post is two years old, demonstrating that public criticism of Tesla isn't new. But in a year when the automaker has been associated, fairly or not, with chief executive officer Elon Musk's political involvement, there have been a number of incidents targeting Teslas and their owners. Some are concerned that dislike of the well-known company's leadership could slow wider electric vehicle adoption and progress toward a more sustainable future. Vandalism of EVs and their charging infrastructure could create fear and frustration among current owners and even discourage new buyers, making the transition away from gas and oil that much harder at a time when reducing our reliance on fossil fuels is urgent. Meanwhile, those looking to pursue EV adoption can rest assured that going electric can bring both economic and environmental benefits — and that they have options. With a growing variety of EV brands on the market, each offering different attributes, there's no need for prospective buyers to feel limited to any one maker. There are also more charging options than ever before. Switching from a traditional car to an EV can already help drivers reduce costs by cutting gas and related maintenance. But EVs can become even cleaner and more affordable when charged using solar energy. Drivers interested in further reducing their environmental impacts and utility costs by making the change to solar at home can use free tools from EnergySage to find quotes from vetted local installers, with the potential to save up to $10,000. Commenters expressed frustration over the act of vandalism, along with empathy for the car owner. Many encouraged them to "file a police report." One commenter wrote, "I don't get this. There is no reason to hate Tesla and Tesla owners." Another added, "I had no idea this was a thing. Just trying to imagine what satisfaction you get by pissing on a car."
