Sarah Michelle Gellar Debunks 'Buffy' Reboot Casting Rumors
We don't know all that much about the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" reboot and according to Sarah Michelle Gellar, we know even less than we thought we did. The actor, who is working as an executive producer on the reboot, spoke with Elite Daily recently and, among other things, revealed that the few characters whose details had been leaked were "fake."

Back in March, TVLine released what the site said was information on the new Slayer of the "Buffy" reboot as well as a couple of her friends. The new Slayer was supposedly named Nova and was described as brainier than Buffy, and would in some ways remind fans more of Alyson Hannigan's Willow from the original series. Then there were Nova's friends: Hugo who was described as an "out and proud nerd" from a wealthy family, and Gracie, who sounded like a younger version of Anthony Head's Giles. Gracie was said to be a vampire expert and an acolyte of Buffy's.

According to Gellar, however, none of the information was factual. "Those are all fake characters," Gellar said. "That thing that got released is all fake."
Unfortunately, Gellar didn't expand by revealing any actual characters from the reboot, but she did talk about why she finally decided it was time for a return for "Buffy".
"Every pitch I heard was just like, 'Let's just do Buffy again.' Why?" Gellar said. "But the passion that [Chloé Zhao] came to me with, what she wanted to do with the show and the character, and why Buffy is needed now — it was the first time where I thought, 'OK, there's a reason.'"
She also emphasized how long the reboot has been marinading and how committed she was to making sure the new show is everything it should be. "We've been at this for three-and-a-half, maybe four years now," Gellar said. "We won't do it unless it's 100% right and there's 100% a reason."
In the meantime, with the rumors about the cast debunked, it just gives more room for more rumors to fly about who will or won't be in the new version of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". There's no word yet who, besides Gellar, may be returning from the original series. Considering all the vampire characters - like David Boreanaz's Angel and James Marsters's Spike - a lot of de-aging techniques will need to be utilized to make them look like ageless vampires.

What Meghan Markle's Netflix Show Ranking Really Says About Its Future
If you follow the television business, then you know it's been a rough ride for many streaming and network shows — Hollywood isn't for the faint of heart. That also means someone like Meghan Markle isn't immune to those highs and lows of the entertainment industry. On July 17, Netflix shared a revealing look at how its shows are doing in the first half of 2025 with its official Engagement Report, and it offered a realistic perspective into the Duchess of Sussex's lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan. More from SheKnows Prince Harry Finds an Unexpected Royal Ally Amid Family Rift - He's 'Suffered So Much' Per the report, Meghan's show ranked No. 383 with 5.3 million views after its March 4 premiere. In comparison to the streamer's most-watched shows, Adolescence, with 145 million views, Squid Games Season 2, with 117 million views, and Squid Games Season 3, with 72 million views. With Love, Meghan landed in 10th place in the Top 10 a week after its debut, but soon fell off the charts. The good news is that the Duchess of Sussex already has a confirmed Season 2 that will debut in the fall with guest Chrissy Teigen on the first episode. Still, the lifestyle show will have to better those numbers if Meghan's show wants to have a third season. Netflix's Engagement Report came out of the 2023 SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild strikes for more transparency on how shows are doing on the streamers — and Meghan has a sobering look at where she needs to improve in the second season. Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix, explained at the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York City in September 2024 why he prefers the new model of transparency. 'Put the number out there so that talent can see it, so that agents can see it, so that the press can see it, and know what's a hit and what's a miss,' he said, per Deadline. Even though Netflix has a partnership to distribute Meghan's As Ever products with her, her TV show will likely need to pick up a little more steam in the fall if she wants a renewal for Season 3. In tough economic times, Hollywood is always thinking about the financial bottom line. Before you go, click to see more of Meghan Markle & Prince Harry's milestones since leaving the royal family. 'The Summer I Turned Pretty.' 'Untamed' — TV and movie new releases to see or skip this weekend in Canada — streaming and in theatres
We're back to the discourse about Team Conrad vs. Team Jeremiah for Belly as The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 started its release on Prime Video this week. And the fans already have some intense thoughts. But while the show, based on Jenny Han's book trilogy, was appointment watching for many, others were heading to the movie theatre to see the highly anticipated I Know What You Did Last Summer remake, starring Outer Banks actor Madelyn Cline and The Studio's Chase Sui Wonders. Additionally, Eddington with Pedro Pascal and Joaquin Phoenix, from divisive filmmaker Ari Aster, also landed in theatres. Meanwhile, drama fans had Eric Bana's new limited series Untamed to enjoy at home on Summer I Turned Pretty, Season 3 — ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Admittedly, I have only watched the first two episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 to, but how could I not include one of the most highly anticipated TV releases of the year! I'm leaving room for improvement, or for things to really take a left turn as the season continues, but the first two episodes are incredibly juicy. In all honestly, I watched the first two episodes right at 3:00 a.m., and shortly after rewatched the episodes to really zero in on all the details and Easter eggs. It's just a story that will suck you in completely, it's a show that's incredibly addictive, and there's no denying how impressive it is for a show to have that much fandom. Where to watch The Summer I Turned Pretty: Prime Video Eddington — ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Ari Aster is a particularly polarizing filmmaker, so it's no surprise that there are a wide variety of opinions on Eddington. While Aster has some lofty goals in this film, with choices that at times feel overindulgent, it's ultimately an effective evaluation of paranoia and societal collapse, all set amid COVID-19 pandemic mandates. While several films and TV shows have tried to reflect life at the height of the pandemic, Aster has done it the best. There are few filmmakers who are able to build anxiety in a film like Aster, but the focus is ultimately an accurate reflection of how disoriented and chaotic our world. Whether we're willing to accept of not, the most cynical moments in the movie are in fact the most real. Where to watch Eddington: Now in theatres I Know What You Did Last Summer — ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I think it's worth remembering that when the 1997 film I Know What You Did Last Summer was first released, it wasn't a huge hit. It's one of those movies that became more beloved as people went back to watch it. With the new I Know What You Did Last Summer following a very similar story, this is a film that will mostly entertain those who are particular fans of the original, and those who love members of this new cast. This movie really leans into the silly and it's a fun journey if you're willing to not take the film to seriously. From Madelyn Cline's outrageous comedy to the visual spectacle of the slasher elements For any reboot there's always a question about whether it was necessary, and this is a film that rests on its audience already feeling invested in the story from the past. Where to watch I Know What You Did Last Summer: Now in theatres Untamed — ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The landscape of British Columbia is used as Yosemite National Park in Untamed, the new crime drama, limited series on Netflix, starring Eric Bana. From relationship drama to lingering trauma and critical safety concerns, Untamed checks all the boxes for elements of a story to build tension and suspense. At times it's predictable, at others a little over-to-top in its melodrama, but this is Bana at his best, giving a particularly engaging performance. Even with its fault, you're going to feel compelled to get to the end and solve the mystery. Where to watch Untamed: Netflix

Sullivan's Crossing Season 4 Picked Up by The CW Elizabeth Tulloch Regrets Missing Krypto on Superman & Lois: 'I Was So Bummed!' (Watch Interview) Based on a book series by Robyn Carr (yes, the same woman who blessed us with Virgin River), the small-town drama recently became the No. 1 show in the world when its first two seasons arrived on Netflix. Just as they regularly devour Virgin River when a new season hits the streamer, fans can't get enough of this sleeper hit, which previously enjoyed a slightly quieter life on CTV in Canada and The CW in the U.S. The certified comfort-watch stars Morgan Kohan as gifted neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan, who returns to her coastal hometown when she finds herself — and her career — in a crisis. Seeking a fresh start, she also discovers new romance with handyman (and secret lawyer) Cal, played by Chad Michael Murray. And who better to cast as Maggie's father than everyone's favorite Gilmore Guy, Scott Patterson? Little do many of those Netflix viewers realize, there's an entire third season of Sullivan's Crossing that previously aired on TV but has yet to hit the streamer (that date remains TBD), plus a just-ordered fourth season already on the way. But what does the future hold for the residents of this tiny TV titan? Read on for a breakdown of everything we know about Sullivan's Crossing Season 4 so far, then drop a comment with your own hopes for Maggie, Cal and the gang. That includes Morgan Kohan as Maggie Sullivan, Chad Michael Murray as California 'Cal' Jones, Tom Jackson as Frank Cranebear, Andrea Menard as Edna Cranebear and Scott Patterson as Harry 'Sully' Sullivan. Who Is Joining Sullivan's Crossing in Season 4? No official Season 4 casting announcements have been made, but fans can definitely expect to see more of Liam (played by Marcus Rosner), who was revealed to be Maggie's husband in the final moments of Season 3. Is There a Trailer for Sullivan's Crossing Season 4? Cameras aren't yet rolling on Sullivan's Crossing Season 4, so there's no footage to show just yet. But The CW did release the cute little teaser above, announcing its 2026 return to the network.
