RM11.8mil worth of aluminium, machinery seized in Perak raid
The operation, conducted under Op Hazard, was led by the Intelligence Branch of Battalion 3 of the GOF, with support from the Northern Brigade GOF Intelligence Branch, Battalion 1 GOF, the Perak Department of Environment (DOE), and the Batu Gajah District Council.
GOF Northern Brigade Deputy Commander Assistant Commissioner Shamsul Baharin Aman said the raid was carried out yesterday in the Pengkalan Industrial Area 4, Pusing.
Shamsul said the factory had allegedly been operating without the required licences and permits under the Environmental Quality Act 1974.
"We also arrested a 37-year-old local man who identified himself as the factory manager for further investigation.
"We discovered and seized approximately 1,221.3 tonnes of aluminium, various scheduled waste materials, and processing machinery, including a lorry engine.
"The total value of the seized items is estimated at RM11,812,280," he said at a press conference at the factory today.

The raid sparked controversy after several non-governmental organisations and individuals denied that any illicit activities took place. In a joint statement, Suaram, the Women's Aid Organisation, Parti Sosialis Malaysia and Amnesty International Malaysia refuted claims of immoral conduct, stating that "the participants attended to get information and undergo sexual health tests." The Malaysian AIDS Council also confirmed that a field engagement session was conducted on June 17 in Kota Baru under the Different HIV Services for Key Population programme, which is supported by the Health Ministry. Kelantan Deputy Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Mohamed Fadzli Hassan has since called for a fair and thorough investigation into the matter.

Three men fined RM11,000 for possessing obscene same-sex content in Kelantan
KOTA BARU: Three men, including two students from tertiary education institutions, were fined a total of RM11,000 by the magistrate's court here today for possessing obscene images and videos of same-sex acts during a raid at a house in Kemumin last month. Mohd Hanafi Ibrahim, 47, was fined RM3,000, while Muhammad Al Azamuddin Al Fadzil, 22, and Mohamad Syahmi Firas Mohd Jurij, 27, were each fined RM4,000 after pleading guilty before Magistrate Wan Mohd Izzat Wan Abdullah. According to separate charges read out to them, all three were accused of possessing obscene images and videos on their respective mobile phones. They pleaded guilty to committing the offence at a house on Jalan Kemumin, Kampung Pulau Belacan, Panchor, here at 1.15am on June 18. They were charged under Section 292 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of three years' imprisonment, a fine, or both, upon conviction. Deputy public prosecutors Muhammad Nadzir Abdullah and Nur Haziqah Hassan prosecuted the case, while all three accused were represented by lawyer Samantha Chong Yin Xin. Earlier, Muhammad Nadzir and Nur Haziqah urged the court to impose a sentence that would serve as a deterrent to the public. Samantha, however, pleaded for leniency, requesting the minimum fine as her clients had repented and promised to change. "Mohd Hanafi suffers from a brain condition and underwent head surgery in 2016. He is now dependent on his sister for support. "Muhammad Al Azamuddin is a first-year university student, while Mohamad Syahmi Firas is a final-year polytechnic student. "They have all promised not to repeat this offence. Their families have also vowed to guide them onto the right path from now on," she said. Failure to pay the fine will result in a six-month jail term. It was previously reported that police raided a gathering at a bungalow on Jalan Kemumin, believed to have been attended by nearly 100 men. The raid, conducted based on intelligence and public information, led to the arrest of 20 men and the seizure of hundreds of condoms and HIV medication.

GOF seizes 100,000 sticks of smuggled cigarettes
KOTA BARU: The General Operations Force (GOF) 7th Battalion seized about 100,000 sticks of contraband cigarettes estimated to be worth RM222,000 after stopping a suspicious vehicle in Kampung Bunut Sarang Burung under Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan on Friday. GOF Southeast Brigade commander Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the seizure was conducted at 6am after the suspect fled and left the vehicle by the roadside. He said an inspection found 100,000 sticks of white cigarettes in the suspect's vehicle and were believed to be for sale in the local market. "All the cigarettes were handed over to the Tumpat district police headquarters for further action and this case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(e) of the Customs Act 1967 and Section 108(3) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said in a statement today. – Bernama
