Power Up Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Deals At Local Retailer Hideout's Play Event

As the worlds of Magic: The Gathering and Final Fantasy collide, the response could not have been more assuring for both Wizards of the Coast and Square Enix. With booster boxes of the latest Magic: The Gathering expansion flying off the shelves at lightning speed, fans and new entrants to the trading card game will find it hard to get hold of their desired product. However, pockets of supply do exist in the market. As we head into the full release of the hotly contested set, Singapore local game store Hideout, is organising an event where you could get your hands on more Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy product. Festivities kick off this weekend (14–15 June 2025) at Suntec City, Singapore. Here are the top picks and deals to check out. We first spotted this bundle back in Singapore Comic Con 2024 where Hideout's booth offered 'fukubukuro' (Japanese-style mystery bags) filled with value. Fast forward to 2025, the upcoming Commander Lucky Bag has everything to kickstart your Magic: The Gathering journey for S$138. Keep in mind that not all the bags will have Final Fantasy product, but it's still a solid deal all around. If you'd prefer a product with more certainty, the following option is a good alternative – The starter kit comes with two cards featuring Cloud and Sephiroth that can only be found within the set, plus you get everything else from deckboxes, sleeves, and two more booster packs for a bundle price of S$60 to protect the collection. One of the best ways to learn Magic: The Gathering is in a low-stakes, level-playing-field event where everyone uses the same pool of cards. In a sealed format, players build a 40-card deck from six booster packs and face off against other players. It's a great way to test your luck and skills on equal footing. Preregistration is needed for this weekend's event, so grab your tickets before they are sold out. Play more events, win more swag! From this weekend onwards at the Play Event, every win and attendance for sealed and draft formats will earn you points to redeem a Chocobo poster and pin. Compared to other sets, Wizards of the Coast is certainly pushing hard to get everyone in stores and laying out swag for the dedicated and skilled. If you're there just for the vibes, keep an eye out for cosplayers, too, as they'll be adding their unique flair to the event. Nintendo Delays Live-Action 'The Legend of Zelda' Movie To May 2027

The kingdom of Hyrule will take a while more to take shape on the silver screen, as Nintendo has postponed the release of its upcoming The Legend of Zelda movie. Initially slated for theatrical debut on 26 March 2027, it's now arriving two months later on 7 May 2027, occupying the date previously held by Avengers: Secret Wars . In a statement by industry veteran Shigeru Miyamoto, the franchise creator shared that 'extra time' is needed to improve the film's quality. 'This is Miyamoto. For production reasons, we are changing the release date of the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda to 7 May 2027,' it reads. 'It will be some weeks later than the release timing we originally announced, and we will take the extra time to make the film as good as it can be. Thank you for your patience.' No further elaboration was given, but the delay puts it out of the way of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and Godzilla x Kong: Supernova , which are slated for release on 19 and 26 March 2027, respectively. Meanwhile, Avengers: Secret Wars has been pushed back to 17 December in the same year. Image credit: Karwai Tang / Getty Images. The Legend of Zelda live-action adaptation was first announced in November 2023, following the breakout success of the animated Super Mario Bros. Movie . Then, Miyamoto confirmed that it had been in the works 'for many years now', though updates have been sparse since. Wes Ball ( Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes ) is directing the project, with Avi Arad, whose credits include every live-action Spider-Man movie and the Spider-Verse animated features, serving as producer alongside Miyamoto. Other details, including story specifics and casting, are still under lock and key. While Euphoria star Hunter Schafer remains the top fan-cast option for Zelda, there's no official confirmation of her involvement in the pic. Introduced in 1986, the iconic series follows elf-like warrior Link as he fights alongside Zelda, the princess of Hyrule, to protect their land from dark forces led by big bad Ganon. It has 21 entries and a number of spin-offs to date, and is largely considered to be one of the most successful franchises in gaming history. The two most recent mainline titles, Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild are getting enhanced versions on the recently launched Nintendo Switch 2, now available for pre-orders in Singapore at S$719 (check out our handy guide for price comparison across all regions). The upcoming Legend of Zelda movie is set to bow on 7 May 2027. Si Jia is a casual geek at heart – or as casual as someone with Sephiroth's theme on her Spotify playlist can get. ‘Death Stranding 2' Premiere Teases Game Opening, Innovative Combat Sequence Ahead Of Release

It won't be long until fans of Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding return to the touted delivery and walking simulator Death Stranding 2: On the Beach as Sam Porter (Norman Reedus). With nearly two weeks left until the game's release, host Geoff Keighley, Kojima, and its cast have provided a closer look at Death Stranding 2 through a premiere livestream, teasing its opening, innovative combat sequence, and more. Aside from Kojima and Keighly, present in the panel were Troy Baker (returning as Higgs), Shioli Kutsuna (who voices a new character Rainy), and the game's music composer Woodkid. The major highlight of the premiere was a live demo of the game's first five minutes, taking place on the border of Mexico, as Sam traverses a vast mountainous landscape toward his hideout. This sequence functions as a tutorial while giving players a taste of what they can expect as a porter. There, Kojima revealed that the game's story begins 11 months after the events of Death Stranding . He also boasted about how Death Stranding 2's soundtrack would adapt to the player's actions, and that natural disasters like earthquakes, forest fires and avalanches would occur dynamically in the environment. Following the tutorial, the premiere brought the audience to an action sequence against Neil (Luca Marinelli) in a spirit world-like environment, similar to the action sequences in the first game against Cliff Unger (Mads Mikkelson) in the trenches of World War 1. The game showed how combat has been expanded, allowing players to experience fights differently depending on their chosen weapons and tools. Notably, a tar cannon was used to put out fires and eliminate enemies, while other weapons, including a blood boomerang, a grenade pistol and other tactical military items like smoke grenades, were used against Neil and his band of skeleton-like warriors. Surrounding the major highlights were first mentions of the game's mobile central hub: the DHV Magellan, and the former introduction of new characters like Rainy and Tomorrow (Elle Fanning). Fans were also given a closer look at Fanning's contributions to Death Stranding 2's soundtrack, and her debut as Tomorrow during an action-packed sequence, which showed her special abilities to teleport through pools of tar, and age enemies through touch. The event concluded with Kojima reminding the audience that although the game would bring awe to them through gameplay and story, players should keep in mind that the theme of the game is about 'connecting the world.' Death Stranding 2: On the Beach's game premiere has, no doubt, set high expectations for fans. We can all connect the world once again on 26 June 2025, exclusively on the PlayStation 5. Meanwhile, potential porters can stand a chance to win a trip to Taipei and be a part of the DEATH STRANDING WORLD STRAND TOUR 2 TAIPEI to meet Kojima, and the game's art director, Yoji Shinkawa. Crack open a cold one with Joey, because the moment you approach him, he will start talking about film and video games for days. He spends his waking moments during the weekends meditating on how the latest movie he's watched or game he's played has impacted his worldview.
