HCLSoftware launches Domino 14.5 with focus on data privacy
HCLSoftware has rolled out version 14.5 of its HCL Domino platform, with a focus on meeting the needs of governments and other organizations that handle sensitive data. This update introduces several changes aimed at improving data privacy, security, and compliance, particularly in regions with strict regulations.
A key part of this release is Domino IQ, a new AI extension designed to give users more control over how artificial intelligence is applied within their systems. Instead of relying on external or cloud-based AI services, organizations can use their own models or ones developed by trusted partners. This approach not only helps in meeting local compliance requirements, such as those outlined in the European AI Act, but also reduces dependence on non-domestic infrastructure.
In addition to AI tools, the new version includes updates to improve security and accessibility. The platform now supports tools for managing security events and incidents, and has received certification aligned with BSI standards. It also meets the guidelines laid out in the European Accessibility Act, ensuring that its web-based services are more usable for a wider range of business users. The update also brings improved deployment options for secure messaging and virtual meetings.
Overall, HCL Domino 14.5 appears to be tailored for organizations operating under strict regulatory conditions, offering a platform that's designed to keep data handling and collaboration both compliant and contained within trusted environments.

NLC India's NUPPL successfully synchronizes Unit-2 of Ghatampur Thermal Power Project
By Aman Shukla Published on July 20, 2025, 11:49 IST Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL), the joint venture between NLC India Limited and UPRVUNL, has achieved a major milestone by successfully completing the 'TG Rolling & Synchronization' of Unit-2 (660 MW) at the 1,980 MW Ghatampur Thermal Power Project. The unit was synchronized with the 765 kV grid at 00:05 AM today, ahead of schedule and in one smooth go following the steam blowing process. This achievement brings NUPPL a step closer to the Commercial Operation Declaration (COD). Unit-1 of the project has been operational since December 2024, and now with Unit-2 synchronized, focus shifts to Unit-3, which is expected to be commissioned in FY 2025–26. Located in Kanpur Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh, the Ghatampur project features three supercritical 660 MW units. It will supply over 1,480 MW to Uttar Pradesh and nearly 493 MW to Assam, making it a key power contributor in North and Northeast India. The plant is backed by its own coal supply from the Pachwara South Coal Block in Jharkhand, ensuring steady fuel availability. Designed with modern technology, the plant incorporates FGD and SCR systems for emission control and follows a Zero Liquid Discharge policy—reflecting NUPPL's strong environmental commitment. With Unit-2 now online, the project edges closer to full-scale operations, delivering reliable and cleaner power for the nation.
