Imps to be 'adaptable' in left-back bid
The 22-year-old Irishman left Lincoln for League One rivals Huddersfield Town at the end of his contract in early July, but the move generated a compensation fee for the Imps.
Skubala has made finding a replacement for Roughan his focus in the remaining weeks of the transfer window, even though he says they "don't have the luxury of going for a like-for-like" replacement.
"We have a plan," Skubala told BBC Radio Lincolnshire during the club's pre-season camp in Portugal.
"It might not look exactly the same as it did last season because Sean was unique in the way he played the game.
"The reason he got the move and the reason we got what we did for him is because of how he performed the role."

Huddersfield sign defenders Roughan and Low
Summer arrival Ryley Towler is a centre-back who is capable of playing at left-back when needed.
Left-back Zach Nolan, from League of Ireland side Bray Wanderers, has been with the Imps in Portugal as a triallist alongside right-back Marcel Lavinier, a former Tottenham and Chelsea youngster who most recently featured for Yeovil Town in the National League.
What Skubala wants are players capable of seamlessly picking up different roles in different formations, be it with a back five or back four.
"It's important that we have adaptability, and maybe part of our strength as a club and as a team is being adaptable - it makes us harder to scout and harder to work on us," he said.
"We definitely want to have a core way that we do it, what our principles are, what we want the team to look like, are definitely things that don't change, but in terms of system we can adapt.
"We need to get the bodies in the building to allow us to do that and we have to be smart with how we go to work with that."

Reading supporters encouraged to bring blue and white balloons on opening home match
Reading supporters are being encouraged to bring out the blue and white for Saturday's first home match of the season. With almost 9,000 season ticket holders for the 2025/26 League One campaign and big-spending Huddersfield Town in RG2 for the 12.30 kick-off, a good sized crowd is expected at the Select Car Leasing Stadium. The campaign got underway in disappointing fashion, losing 2-0 to Lincoln City at Sincil Bank on Saturday, but the Royals will be hoping to emulate last season's opening home match victory, which came against Wigan Athletic. Co-owners Rob Couhig and Todd Trosclair will be in attendance, and supporters are being encouraged to bring blue and white shirts as well as blue and white balloons for the occasion. "New season, new owners and a new start," said fan group Club 1871. "This Saturday we encourage you to wear blue and white and bring blue & white balloons to celebrate the new season in Bring the noise and get behind the lads no matter what. See you there." Supporters Trust at Reading [STAR] backed the campaign and called on 'everyone' to get behind it. Speaking ahead of the visit of the Terriers, who beat Leyton Orient 3-0 in their opening match on Saturday, manager Noel Hunt said: "It's a new era at the club- we all know that. You guys have been through some tough times and we've survived it together. You are the ones who kept us going, and hopefully vice versa. "We are rebuilding the club, and the team, and we would love you all to come along and support us. It will be great to see you all on Saturday to get behind the boys. Together, we can achieve great things." The match is live on Sky Sports for those unable to attend at the SCL Stadium.

Player props for Mets vs. Guardians: Gavin Williams among best picks
Gambling content 21+. The New York Post may receive an affiliate commission if you sign up through our links. Read our editorial standards for more information. The Mets-Guardians series finale offers a strong starting pitching matchup, with David Peterson going against Gavin Williams on Wednesday afternoon. Williams is in peak form, arguably the best of his career over his past five starts as he has a 1.74 ERA with 35 strikeouts across 30 innings in that span. Meanwhile, National League All-Star Peterson has been the only reliable Mets starter as they prepare for the stretch run to the playoffs. Peterson is in solid form in his own right, with an equally strong 1.44 ERA with 22 strikeouts in 31²/₃ innings over his past five starts. You may recall, I was recommending Williams to win the Cy Young Award in the American League during spring training this year. Those tickets are dead, but Williams hasn't been bad by any means, and the 100/1 long shot wasn't a total waste. Williams' walk rate is down of late, and his strikeout rate is up since the calendar turned to June. Let's target the total here and bet the Under on total runs in the first five innings, as both teams struggle in the earlier half of games. Gavin Williams AP Learn all you need to know about MLB Betting The Mets are 47-61-5 in favor of the Under for the first five innings this season, while the Guardians are 45-63-3. With the Guardians cashing the Under at a 58.3 percent clip in the first inning this season and the Mets coming in at a 54.5 percent rate, Wednesday should be a solid time to hit the Under as these two starters duel. As an added bonus, don't be afraid to bet on Williams' strikeout prop, over 5.5 coming in at +105, with some sneaky value on 8+ strikeouts coming in at +450 on DraftKings. Williams has struck out at least eight in two of his last three starts and three of five overall. The play: Mets-Guardians Under 4.5 total runs in first five innings (-110, bet365) | WIlliams 8+ strikeouts (+450, DraftKings) Why Trust New York Post Betting Erich Richter is a brazilian jiu-jitsu blue belt but he has a black belt in MMA betting.
