GASTONIA, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Gastonia boy got a big surprise on his birthday.
3-year-old Rylen's mother called the Gastonia Police Department's non-emergency number Saturday afternoon, asking if there was a patrol unit in her area and if they could drive by so her son could see them.
The department did more than just that.
Gastonia Police commanders asked for volunteers, and seven officers, a Civilian Crash investigator, a Gaston County deputy and K9 Bo all came out to wish Rylen a happy 3rd birthday.

Montravias King steps back from District 3 race, backs Tiawana Brown despite fraud charges

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — On Tuesday, Montravias King announced that he's suspending his campaign for Charlotte City Council District 3, ending a challenge he launched earlier this year against incumbent Tiawana Brown. 'After much reflection and prayer, I have decided to suspend my campaign for Charlotte City Council District 3,' King said in a statement shared on social media. 'I gave this campaign my all because I love this city and its people.' PREVIOUS: Indicted Charlotte City Councilwoman will have challenger in primary King, a Democrat and former teacher who also serves on Keep Charlotte Beautiful, entered the race earlier this year, aiming to unseat Brown in the September 9, 2025, primary. Brown currently faces federal fraud charges related to COVID-19 relief funds. Despite the indictment, she has maintained her innocence and said she would not resign. This week, King not only confirmed he is stepping aside, but also endorsed Brown. PREVIOUS: Residents of indicted Charlotte City Councilwoman's district holding off judgement on fraud allegations While the decision ends King's campaign, he said it doesn't end his public service. 'While this chapter is ending, my commitment to our community is not,' he stated. 'I will continue working to make that vision a reality, serving and staying engaged in the work that matters most.' District 3 includes southwest Charlotte and the Steele Creek area. The race has drawn further attention after Brown was indicted in June for allegedly conspiring with her daughters to fraudulently obtain over $100,000 in pandemic relief funds. She has pleaded not guilty. ‘Worst' Amazon driver angers shoppers — after shockingly careless home delivery is caught on camera

What a tosser. A North Carolina family was shocked when footage from their home security system captured what's being dubbed one of the worst Amazon delivery performances in recent memory. The now-viral doorbell camera video, filmed in Cabarrus County, shows the driver delivering packages with an alarming lack of care. 3 A now-viral doorbell camera video captured what's being dubbed one of the worst Amazon delivery performances in recent memory. Queen City News Instead of walking up to the porch and placing the items neatly by the door, the unidentified driver casually drops multiple boxes from a distance, letting them crash onto the steps and scatter across the entryway. One of the packages appears unstable, prompting the driver to roughly shove it back up the steps instead of placing it with care. He then lingers briefly at the porch, scanning a smaller package in his hand before walking away —seemingly unfazed by the mess he just made. The commotion startled the family, who were home at the time and heard a loud bang outside. When they stepped out to investigate, they discovered their packages strewn across the porch, some left precariously perched on the edge of the stairs. 3 Instead of walking up to the porch and placing the items by the door, the unidentified driver casually drops multiple boxes from a distance, letting them crash onto the steps and scatter across the entryway. Queen City News Disturbed by the incident, the family — who have chosen to remain anonymous — decided to release the footage to raise awareness about what they consider unacceptable delivery behavior. The video has since sparked outrage online, with many viewers calling it one of the worst displays of delivery etiquette they've ever seen. Yet, this isn't the worst-behaved Amazon delivery driver the world has seen. A mischievous employee was axed earlier this year after she was caught on home surveillance video relieving herself on two front porches while dropping off packages in Los Angeles. The gross stunt took place in the city's Woodland Hills area, with the unnamed driver caught literally with her pants down, according to KTLA-TV News. 'We're deeply disturbed by the unacceptable behavior of this delivery driver and apologize to the customers involved,' Amazon officials said in a statement to the outlet. 'We immediately identified the driver and they are no longer delivering on behalf of Amazon.' While that Amazon driver left an unwanted package, others have been caught taking them. 3 One of the packages appears unstable, prompting the driver to roughly shove it back up the steps instead of placing it with care. Queen City News A man captured the moment an Amazon delivery driver appeared to steal the package he'd just delivered. Matthew Perry, 29, ordered a Bluetooth device for his car and a workout bench from Amazon, which cost $15 in total. In the video, the delivery driver puts the package down and walks around the corner. But 30 seconds later, he returns to retrieve the items before running down the garden path. Perry was at work while his package was delivered and said he was shocked that someone would jeopardize their job for a $15 package.
