The Agency received the 3G Leadership Award in Sustainability Governance and the 3G ESG Championship Award – with both accolades affirming its commitment to world-class environmental excellence and integrity, transparency and responsible governance.
The awards were presented during the 10th annual 3G Awards Ceremony, held in Brunei as part of the 3G Summit, which brought together over 200 participants from around the world. Eng. Salem Al Breiki, Chairman of the Governance Committee and Division Director of Waste Management, accepted the honours on behalf of EAD and also participated in a high-level panel discussion titled 'Transforming Governance to Tackle Global Health and Environmental Priorities.' He was joined by Ms. Ayesha Al Ketbi, Director of the Strategic Planning Office, who also represented the Agency during the ceremony.
The 3G Leadership Award in Sustainability Governance recognises outstanding organisations that has demonstrated leadership in corporate governance, upheld ethical standards, and championed integrity, fairness, and accountability. It also honours a commitment to environmental and social responsibility through sustainable practices, governance codes, and transparency in reporting. The Agency's longstanding commitment to these pillars was key to its recognition.
Furthermore, the 3G ESG Championship Award celebrates organisations that exemplify leadership in integrating Environmental, Social and Governance ESG principles into their strategies, operations, and decision-making. The Agency was acknowledged for its exemplary ESG framework, which is supported by nine formal committees – most notably, the Governance Committee, which was established in 2017 and reformed in 2022.
The Agency's ESG journey includes a mature governance system, a 79.3 per cent governance maturity score, conflict of interest and anti-fraud policies, multiple ISO certifications and is currently progressing to obtain ISO 37000 for organisational governance.
Her Excellency Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of EAD, said: 'We are deeply honoured to receive these international recognitions, which affirm our ongoing mission to lead by example in sustainable governance and ESG excellence. These awards reflect the dedication of our teams, the strength of our systems and our belief that good governance is the foundation of lasting environmental impact. As we move forward, we remain committed to innovation, integrity, and partnerships that serve both people and the planet.'
The 3G Awards are organised by Cambridge IFA (International Finance Advisory), a UK-based organisation that promotes ethical, sustainable finance and governance worldwide. The awards align closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and are known for enhancing the visibility, credibility and global partnerships of recipients.

Egypt launches first-ever bachelor's degree in banking sciences across commerce faculties

In a landmark step toward cultivating a new generation of banking professionals and accelerating financial and economic development, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Supreme Council of Universities, and the Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI), has announced the launch of a Bachelor's degree in Banking Sciences. The programme will be introduced at several Egyptian universities starting in the 2025/2026 academic year. The announcement was made during an event held yesterday, attended by Hassan Abdalla, Governor of the CBE; Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Mostafa Refaat, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Universities; Hussein Issa, former President of Ain Shams University and Coordinator of the Presidential Specialized Council for Economic Development; Abdel Aziz Nosseir, Executive Director of the EBI; as well as presidents of universities, deans of commerce faculties, and senior figures from the banking sector. During the ceremony, a partnership agreement was signed between the EBI and participating universities to ensure effective coordination and guarantee the programme's success. The degree is designed to equip students with the specialised knowledge, hands-on skills, and ethical grounding required to excel in an increasingly dynamic banking landscape, particularly in light of rapid digital transformation and growing economic challenges. Hassan Abdalla described the initiative as 'a pioneering step to enhance the skills and talent within the banking sector.' He added: 'This programme will help prepare future leaders and highly qualified bankers, driven by our firm belief that empowering youth with global banking competencies is a strategic, long-term investment that will provide a strong boost to both the sector and national economic development.' The Governor noted that students will gain advanced skills in areas such as financial inclusion, digital banking, fintech, risk management, advanced regulatory frameworks, sustainable banking, and environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG). He emphasised that the programme's intensive practical training and case studies—conducted in collaboration with banks operating in the Egyptian market—will ensure graduates enter the workforce with both academic excellence and job-ready experience, enabling them to make immediate contributions to economic growth and financial stability. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education, stressed that the initiative reflects the shared vision of the Ministry and the CBE to deliver modern academic programmes aligned with labour market demands. He pointed out that this is the first such programme developed jointly by the Ministry and the CBE, featuring specialised curricula, innovative teaching methods, and extensive training opportunities in banks. Initially launching in select universities, the programme is planned for gradual expansion in the coming years. He expressed confidence that it will significantly enhance the skills of graduates in the banking field, strengthening their role in national economic progress. Ashour further explained that the Bachelor of Banking Sciences aims to train students passionate about financial and banking services, preparing them to play an active role in Egypt's development journey. This specialised degree—awarded by universities and institutes following high school—aligns with the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and is a key step toward integrating efforts across state institutions to prepare students for professional success. From the perspective of the Supreme Council of Universities, Secretary-General Mostafa Refaat underlined the importance of aligning academic content with Egypt's Vision 2030 and the future needs of the labour market. He noted that, on 31 May 2025, the Council approved unified academic regulations for a new Bachelor of Commerce specialising in Banking Sciences. The credit-hour programme, to be taught in English, will be offered in commerce faculties at Egyptian universities. Refaat added that the curriculum integrates academic study with practical training in banks and financial institutions, while also offering accredited professional certificates alongside the graduation degree—further improving graduates' employability. Abdel Aziz Nosseir, Executive Director of the EBI, expressed pride in the collaboration, describing the Bachelor of Banking Sciences as 'a genuine response to the evolving needs of the banking job market.' He stated: 'At the EBI, we believe that building future banking leaders starts with providing specialised education that fuses theory and practice, enriched by the latest banking technologies and methodologies. The practical component will be delivered by banking sector experts alongside distinguished faculty members from participating universities.' Designed to keep pace with digital transformation, the programme embeds the latest technological trends into its curricula, fosters ethical and responsible banking practices, and champions sustainable financial solutions. Through this integrated approach, it aims to prepare a new generation of bankers ready to shape the future of Egypt's banking industry.

300 Companies Complete the Impact Declaration through the Sustainable Impact Digital Portal - Middle East Business News and Information

Strengthening transparency, institutional accountability, and sustainability practices across the UAE private sector In line with its ongoing efforts to promote transparency and institutionalize responsible corporate practices Majra– National CSR Fund announced that nearly 300 companies have successfully completed the mandatory Impact Declaration through the Sustainable Impact Digital Portal. This milestone marks a significant step in embedding sustainability and governance principles across the private sector and represents the first phase in the process of applying for the Impact Seal, a federal recognition for companies demonstrating measurable contributions to the UAE's sustainable development. The Impact Declaration serves as a unified federal tool to assess a company's disclosure of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices, and actual contributions to the UAE community—be it financial, in-kind, or volunteer-based. Commenting on this development, Sarah Shaw, CEO of Majra, noted that the increasing engagement with the Impact Declaration and applications for the Impact Seal reflect a growing institutional commitment within the private sector toward transparency and measurable action. She stated, 'At Majra, we are building a nationwide institutional environment grounded in documentation, impact measurement, and results-driven partnerships. Through the Sustainable Impact Digital Portal, we empower companies to transform their commitments into measurable contributions that serve society and advance the UAE's vision for sustainable corporate responsibility.' In parallel with this growing participation, Majra received approximately 160 applications for the second cycle of the Impact Seal through the digital portal. The applications included around 100 from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and 60 from large corporates—demonstrating increased interest from all economic sectors in formalizing their impact and enhancing institutional competitiveness. The Impact Seal is awarded across two official categories: one for large companies and a newly introduced category dedicated to SMEs, aligned with the UAE's National SME Agenda. The Seal is granted in three tiers—Platinum, Gold, and Silver—based on the scope and depth of corporate impact and sustainability practices. Launched in late 2024, the Sustainable Impact Digital Portal serves as an integrated national platform enabling companies to submit declarations and applications in a streamlined and unified manner. The portal also provides access to a suite of services offered by Majra, including the documentation and accreditation of CSR and sustainability projects, certified workshops, specialized studies, and capacity-building programs tailored to institutional needs. It ensures alignment with national priorities and global sustainability standards. Obtaining the Impact Seal offers companies a comprehensive range of strategic and regulatory benefits. It represents official federal-level recognition for excellence in ESG, CSR, and sustainability, elevating corporate credibility and public image at both local and international levels. The Seal reinforces stakeholder and investor trust through a certified endorsement from a UAE government entity and grants companies' priority access to government-led initiatives, policy development circles, and high-level partnership opportunities. It also supports institutional branding through authorized promotional use of the Seal emblem and strengthens internal performance by enabling companies to review and improve their sustainability indicators and systems. All achievements are recorded and made visible through the portal, contributing to a transparent national repository of impact and facilitating integration into the wider sustainability ecosystem in the UAE. This upward trend in corporate participation confirms the success of the federal impact measurement framework in fostering a culture of responsible business, enabling verified tracking of private sector contributions, and directing them toward national priorities in line with global ESG and sustainability benchmarks.

Schneider Electric, the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, today announced its Q2 2025 extra-financial results, marking a pivotal moment as the company enters the final stretch of its 2021–2025 Schneider Sustainability Impact SSI program. With six months remaining, Schneider Electric continues to demonstrate its commitment to measurable, inclusive, and transformative progress across its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals. This recognition follows its recent distinction as Europe's Most Sustainable Corporation by Corporate Knights, reinforcing the company's leadership in sustainability. Beyond accolades, Q2 2025 delivered tangible results. Schneider Electric surpassed its goal of training 1 million people in energy management, a cornerstone of its commitment to inclusive energy transition and youth empowerment. This milestone, aligned with World Youth Skills Day 2025, is driven by the Youth Education & Entrepreneurship Program, active in over 60 countries. The program equips underserved communities with technical and entrepreneurial skills to participate in the energy transition. Recent initiatives highlight the program's global reach and impact: In Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, digital twin technology is used to train displaced communities in solar repair and e-waste recycling. The Conserve My Planet program engages students in India, Kenya, Vietnam, and Thailand through hands-on sustainability projects. In Brazil, mobile training benches bring renewable energy education to incarcerated youth, supporting reintegration and reducing recidivism. These initiatives share a common thread: when education meets technology and purpose, systemic change becomes possible. Sustained progress across key sustainability pillars: Schneider Electric also reported continued progress across several core sustainability indicators: 734 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions saved and avoided for customers since 2018, crossing the 700-million-tonne milestone. Supply chain decarbonization efforts continue to gain momentum, as operational CO₂ emissions from Schneider Electric's top 1,000 suppliers were reduced now by 48%, just two points away from the year-end target. This reflects the growing impact of the Zero Carbon Project, which combines local solutions, on-site support, renewable energy insights, and targeted training.
