Johor cops bust two drug syndicates, RM2.3 million in drugs seized
Johor police chief Datuk M. Kumar said in the first case, seven individuals were arrested, comprising five local men and two foreign women, aged between 29 and 54.
He said the syndicate, believed to have been active since January last year, used the WeChat application as their main platform for transactions.
'Various types of drugs were found in a car and a terrace house which had been used as a storage location.
'In total, drugs worth RM1.23 million were seized, including 7.08 kilogrammes (kg) of ecstasy powder, 1.37 kg of heroin, 139.34 grammes of ketamine, 123.10 grammes of syabu, and 127 eramin 5 pills,' he told a press conference, here today.
He said police also confiscated three cars, two motorcycles, RM9,320 in cash, and jewellery worth RM32,453.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, police arrested a 35-year-old local man and seized various drugs weighing 6.46 kilogrammes worth RM1.07 million during a raid in the Pontian area on May 21.
He said the man was believed to have used a terraced house in the district as a drug storage and distribution hub.
'We are still tracking other members of this group, believed to have been active since March 2025,' he said.

It is believed she is related to an accused in an armed robbery case. The accused was brought before Sessions judge Haderiah Siri to face a charge of robbery while armed with a butcher knife. He is alleged to have made off with RM202.80 in cash, three boxes of cigarettes, and a barcode scanner in the 3am incident at Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho 2 on July 29. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison and possible caning under Section 392 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 397. The accused, who was unrepresented, was granted bail of RM9,000 with additional conditions, including reporting to the police fortnightly and surrendering his passport. The court fixed Sept 9 for next mention.

Man denies armed robbery at Melaka convenience store
MELAKA: A man pleaded not guilty at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court here today to a charge of committing armed robbery at a convenience store here last month. Amirul Hamry Hambalyi Azahari, 27, was charged with robbing the convenience store of RM202.80 in cash, three boxes of branded cigarettes and a price scanner when armed with a butcher knife. The offence was allegedly committed at the 7-Eleven premises at Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho 2, Central Melaka, at about 3 am on July 29. The charge, framed under Section 392 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 397 of the same law, provides imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping if found guilty. Judge Haderiah Siri allowed Amirul Hamry Hambalyi bail of RM9,000 and also ordered him to report to a nearby police station every two weeks, as well as surrender his passport to the court. She set Sept 2 for mention for the submission of documents and the appointment of a lawyer. The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhamad Ehsan Nasarudin, while the accused was unrepresented. - Bernama
