BREAKING NEWS Child, seven, seriously injured in crash involving tractor, police dog van and car
A seven-year-old was seriously injured in a crash near Preston which involved a car, tractor and police dog van. Police said a tractor emerging from a field struck a Ford Fiesta, which in turn collided with a police dog unit vehicle. An officer was also taken to hospital following the devastating crash, while the police dogs were examined by a vet. The incident happened on Stubbins Lane, Claughton-on-Brock, near Preston at 11am today. The road was closed on both sides of the M6, from Garstang Road to Lodge Road for around two hours after the collision. A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: 'A seven-year-old child passenger from the Ford Fiesta was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, and the other adult passenger was taken to hospital with minor injuries. 'The police officer was taken to hospital but has not suffered any serious injuries. 'The dogs were taken to Hutton Headquarters to be examined by the vet. The driver of the tractor was not injured.' Anyone who saw what happened is asked to call Lancashire Constabulary on 101, quoting log 0531 of 15th July 2025. It comes after a man was left with life-threatening injuries after a BMW crashed near a central London landmark on June 29. Emergency services blue-lighted to a Piccadilly Circus roundabout at around 5.25am where a car had overturned near the iconic Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain. Photos showed police tape sealing off roads and the crash scene where the heavily damaged black BMW was seen on its roof. London Ambulance paramedics arrived within minutes of receiving a 999 call, with a 22-year-old man being rushed to a major trauma centre. Another male, also aged 22, was also taken to a hospital. His condition was not believed to be life-threatening.

BREAKING NEWS Two British tourists are dead 'after jumping into hotel pool after a night out' in Portugal
Two British tourists have reportedly died on the Algarve after jumping into their holiday apartment pool after a night out. The alarm was raised around 4.30am this morning at a hotel-apartment in the party resort of Albufeira where two British men died last month. Emergency responders sent to the scene made unsuccessful attempts to revive the two men. Police are said to be working on the theory the pair, aged 27 and 29, got into difficulties because they had been drinking and didn't know how to swim. Portugal's Policia Judiciaria have been asked by colleagues at the GNR police force to investigate the circumstances surrounding the men's deaths but they are not being treated as suspicious at this stage. Local reports emerging from Portugal suggest the two men who died this morning were both British and were holidaying with friends. Portuguese police could not be reached this afternoon for an official statement. MailOnline has approached the Foreign Office for comment.
