Malaysian confirmed dead in Bali Strait ferry tragedy
Eko Suyatno, Deputy of Operations and Preparedness at BASARNAS, stated that Fauzey's body was recovered along with two Indonesian nationals. The remains were taken to Blambangan Hospital in Banyuwangi, East Java, for identification by the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Unit.
'The SAR operation is still ongoing to locate those who remain missing,' Eko said. Out of the 65 passengers aboard the ferry KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya, 45 have been accounted for—30 survivors and 15 confirmed dead.
Reports indicate Fauzey was traveling in a tourist van on the ferry, returning to Malaysia via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali after departing from Ketapang Port in Banyuwangi.
The Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta confirmed it is in contact with Fauzey's family and will provide consular assistance. The family is expected to travel to Banyuwangi on Friday. - Bernama

Syndicate busted: Fighting cocks worth millions seized in Sabah raids
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have crippled a cockfighting syndicate involving birds believed to be of a Filipino breed, with seizures worth more than RM3 million following two raids on homes in Tawau, Sabah. The 2.30pm raid was carried out on Thursday under the integrated Ops Khazanah by Bukit Aman's Wildlife Crime Bureau/Special Intelligence and Investigation Unit (WCB/PSK) of the Internal Security and Public Order Department. Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Seri Azmi Abu Kassim said the operation also involved officers from the Tawau police headquarters (IPD), the 14th Battalion of the General Operations Force (PGA) Tawau, and enforcement officers from the Veterinary Services Department's Tawau branch. In the first raid on an unnumbered house in Kampung Apas Parit, Jalan Apas Parit, Tawau, police arrested two Indonesian men and two Filipino men aged between 31 and 52. "During the raid, we seized 470 fighting cocks believed to be of a Filipino breed, 40 cockfighting blades, 130 boxes and 50 bottles containing various types of vitamins, as well as 500 cages and cockfighting coops. "In a second raid at another unnumbered house in Kampung Membalua Off Jalan Apas, Tawau, a 57-year-old local man was arrested," he said in a statement tonight. Azmi said police seized another 152 live fighting cocks of the same suspected origin, bringing the total estimated value of the seizures to RM3,287,708. The case is being investigated under: -Section 15(1) of the Animal Enactment 2015, -Sections 55B, 39B, and 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, and -Section 6 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958. "The operation was launched to combat cockfighting gambling activities in Sabah," he said. From Jan 1 to July 15, Bukit Aman's WCB/PSK unit conducted 173 raids nationwide, arresting 306 people for offences including smuggling of contraband, leakages of controlled and subsidised goods, sales of imitation weapons, wildlife trafficking, and illegal e-waste operations. The total estimated value of seizures during the period stands at RM544,737,877.61.

Japanese tourist arrested for driving naked through Hat Yai streets
KOTA BARU: Barely two months after 10 Malaysian tourists were fined in Hat Yai, Thailand, for illegal street racing and traffic violations, another foreigner was fined yesterday for driving naked in the popular tourist destination. The 56-year-old Japanese male tourist was apprehended after driving naked through the streets of Hat Yai about 5.30pm (Thai time). In a Facebook posting, Hat Yai Tourist Police chief Superintendent Sakdanan Kamsai said the man was arrested in a joint operation between Hat Yai Tourist Police and local police. "Several video clips and images of a man driving nude in public areas across the city drew widespread public outrage and condemnation on social media. "Following this, our investigators managed to locate the suspect. He was later identified as a 56-year-old Japanese national," he said. Upon questioning, he said the suspect admitted to being the person seen in the viral footage. Police subsequently charged him under Section 388 of the Thai Criminal Code for committing indecent acts in public, which includes exposing oneself or performing lewd behaviour in public places. He was issued a maximum fine of 5,000 baht (RM655). The tourist was then taken to the Hat Yai police station for further action. The officers also issued a stern warning, stating that such behaviour is illegal, inappropriate, and tarnishes Thailand's tourism image while offending local cultural sensitivities. The suspect acknowledged his wrongdoing and issued an apology for his actions. On May 17, 10 Malaysian tourists were fined in Hat Yai for illegal street racing and traffic violations. They were caught obstructing traffic and causing excessive noise near the Greenway Night Market. The group, aged between 21 and 25, were also cited for illegal vehicle modifications and incomplete vehicle equipment. In addition to the fines, they were required to issue a public apology.

Cops Seize Crude Palm Oil, Fighting Cocks Worth Over RM3.9 Mln In Sabah
KUALA LUMPUR, July 20 (Bernama) -- The Wildlife Crime Bureau / Special Intelligence Investigation (WCB/PSK) Division of the Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (JKDNKA) seized various illegal items worth RM3.9 million in two integrated operations in Lahad Datu and Tawau, Sabah, on Thursday and Friday. JKDNKA director Datuk Seri Azmi Abu Kassim said that in the first operation in Lahad Datu at 7 pm, carried out with enforcement officers from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), they raided a store at a palm oil plantation and arrested four men aged between 20 and 31. "We seized a lorry head with a tanker containing 30,000 litres of crude palm oil, a van, three motorised oil pumps with hoses and tanks, as well as drums filled with crude palm oil. "The total amount of crude palm oil seized is estimated to weigh 30,148 tonnes, with a market value of RM152,090, and the overall value of the seizure in this operation is estimated at RM645,890,' he said in a statement today. Azmi said the case is being investigated under Regulation 5(1)(b) of the MPOB (Licensing) Regulations 2005, adding that police also issued five summonses (POL 257) for vehicle-related offences such as expired road tax, no insurance coverage and driving without a licence. Meanwhile, in the second operation in Tawau at 2.30 pm on Friday, police seized 622 fighting cocks and arrested three men, including two foreign men from Indonesia and the Philippines, all aged around their 50s. 'At the first location in Kampung Apas Parit, two Indonesian men and two Filipino men were arrested, and police seized 470 fighting cocks believed to be from the Philippines, 40 rooster spur knives, 180 units of vitamins and 500 chicken cages. 'At the second location in Kampung Membalua Off Jalan Apas, a 57-year-old man was detained along with 152 fighting cocks, with the total estimated value of the seizures at both locations being RM3,287,708,' he said. He added that all those arrested are being investigated under Section 15(1) of the Animal Welfare Enactment 2015, Sections 55B, 39B & 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Section 6 of the Dangerous Weapons Act 1958.
