A Chinese cultural event titled 'A Life Called Yunnan' was held in Riyadh, marking a significant occasion in the Saudi-Chinese Cultural Year 2025 initiative.
The event was attended by China's Ambassador to the Kingdom, Chang Hua, along with several officials, diplomats, and cultural, tourism, and heritage enthusiasts from both Saudi Arabia and China.
It included captivating artistic performances that showcased the essence of Chinese culture, as well as a dedicated section offering tea and coffee experiences. This created an immersive atmosphere inspired by the daily life of Yunnan Province in southwest China.
The event also featured several Saudi artisans, who presented interactive displays of traditional handicrafts and calligraphy, offering a vibrant reflection of the Kingdom's rich cultural and artistic heritage.
This event marks a continuation of the expanding cultural and tourism cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China. It is part of a cultural initiative designed to strengthen the bonds of friendship and deepen mutual understanding, fostering new opportunities for dialogue and exchange between the two nations.

Stephen Hitchen begins role as British ambassador to Saudi Arabia

RIYADH: The new British ambassador to Saudi Arabia Stephen Hitchen has now formally started his role, the UK's embassy in Riyadh announced on Tuesday. He has moved to Saudi Arabia with his family and succeeds Neil Crompton who completed his tenure in July. On his arrival in the Saudi capital, Hitchen commented: 'My appointment as British ambassador to Saudi Arabia is the greatest honor of my life. Our two kingdoms have enjoyed a long friendship, and we both have proud histories and high ambitions for the future.' 'My family and I have already enjoyed the famous Saudi hospitality, and we look forward to exploring your beautiful mountains, desert, towns and cities,' the ambassador added. He brings extensive Middle East experience to the role, having previously served as the British ambassador to Iraq from 2023 to 2025, and as Director for Middle East and North Africa (National Security) within the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office from 2016 to 2019. His career has included postings across the region, including Kuwait, Jordan, and Egypt, along with specialist roles focusing on Iran and counter-terrorism.

SAR to build new station in Al Zulfi

Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) signed an agreement with the Cooperative for Logistics Services to build and operate a passenger station in Al Zulfi, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. The deal adds a new passenger stop in Al Zulfi, making it the seventh station Al-Majmaah, Qassim on the North Train network, which runs from Riyadh to Al Qurayyat via, Hail, and Al-Jouf. Transport Minister Saleh Al-Jasser said on X that the project will link Al Zulfi to the Riyadh–Al Qurayyat corridor, easing passenger and cargo movement, boosting regional connectivity, and reducing reliance on private cars. He added it will help cut road congestion, expand public transport, and support local development under the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.
