Bryson DeChambeau has just been confirmed by captain Keegan Bradley as one of the 12 players who will represent the United States in the upcoming Ryder Cup. Bradley announced the news after completing his participation in the Open Championship.
As expected, DeChambeau has received the designation with great enthusiasm. One of his first "official acts" as a Ryder Cup player was none other than challenging European idol Rory McIlroy.
"I'll be chirping in his ear this time," he told People from the "Happy Gilmore 2" premiere. "Now, if we go up against each other, I mean, you can be sure of it. I'll get into his ear a little bit."

Bryson DeChambeau of the United States and Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland wait on the tenth hole during the final round of the 2025 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club on April 13, 2025 in Augusta, Georgia. MoreDeChambeau is one of several professional golf stars set to make a cameo in the sequel to the cult golf film "Happy Gilmore," starring Adam Sandler.
From his words, it's evident that the wounds from the last Masters Tournament are still raw for DeChambeau.
As you may recall, the two stars played the final round together at Augusta National Golf Club, with McIlroy leading the event by two strokes.
The LIV Golf star managed to take the lead after the first two holes, but eventually collapsed and fell to T5. Meanwhile, McIlroy went on to win the tournament and complete the career Grand Slam.
After that historic day, DeChambeau said they spoke little during the round, saying his colleague had no intention of talking.
"(He) didn't talk to me once all day," DeChambeau said back then, according to People. "He wouldn't talk to me."

DeChambeau and McIlroy have never faced each other directly in previous Ryder Cups. They did compete against each other last year on the made-for-TV golf show "The Showdown," when the Northern Irishman and Scottie Scheffler defeated DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka.
DeChambeau is currently ranked fifth in the American rankings to make the Ryder Cup team, so he would qualify in his own right to play at Bethpage Black next September.
However, he could fall off the list during the month of August, as LIV Golf events don't accrue points. That's why Bradley moved ahead with confirming him on the team, either by finishing in the top six or by choosing him among the six free picks.
DeChambeau is the third American player guaranteed for the Ryder Cup team. Scottie Scheffler has already mathematically qualified, while JJ Spaun was also confirmed by Bradley after his victory at the US Open.

Steelers Receiver Gets Wake Up Call From Aaron Rodgers
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Pittsburgh Steelers legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers is heading into the final season of his illustrious NFL career. He's hoping to end his career on top of the league with a storybook run to the Super Bowl. In order to make that kind of run, the future Hall of Fame quarterback is going to need the offense to step up around him. Granted, Rodgers is no longer the elite superstar that he once was. However, he's still more than capable of playing at a high level and leading a team to potential contention. Photo byLast season with the New York Jets, Rodgers showed that he still has it. He completed 63 percent of his pass attempts for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. His numbers were still better than many quarterbacks around the league. Read more: Browns HC Makes Major QB Announcement At the top of the Steelers' wide receiver depth chart is DK Metcalf. He was acquired in a blockbuster offseason trade to give Rodgers an elite No. 1 weapon. That being said, there are some major questions at wide receiver behind Metcalf. Currently, Pittsburgh has Calvin Austin II, Robert Woods, and Roman Wilson as its next best options. Those three players could be quality targets for Rodgers, but that is not a proven concept at this point in time. With that in mind, Rodgers spoke out on Wednesday and sent a very pointed message to Wilson. "I need to get Roman out of his own head a bit," Rodgers said. "He cares so much about whether it's my approval or he's doing it right. He's just got to trust himself because he's so damn talented." Obviously, that is not the kind of quote that a young wideout wants to hear from Rodgers. The veteran quarterback has always had some level of frustration with young wide receivers dating back to his time with the Green Bay Packers. Read more: Davante Adams Casts Doubt on Travis Hunter's NFL Future Wilson will need to figure out his issues and play at a high level or risk losing playing time. The Steelers have a one-year window with Rodgers and they will do whatever it takes to compete for a championship in 2025. Perhaps the team could still look into signing a free agent like Amari Cooper. Or, if they choose to stick with the group they've put together, they need Wilson to step up. Right now, it sure doesn't sound like Rodgers is incredibly happy with where his connection is at with the young wideout. MGK Says His Haters Are Just ‘Conformists' Who Pretend to Dislike Him to ‘Fit In'
MGK pays no mind to the people who would gladly purchase tickets to his downfall, as the musician born Colson Baker — and formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly — has revealed that he thinks his haters are merely 'conformists' who can't think for themselves. In an interview with People published Wednesday (Aug. 6) ahead of his new album Lost Americana, MGK opened up about why he isn't bothered by his critics. 'The hate for me has become so pop culture that it's almost like that's automatically what you say to fit in,' he told the publication. More from Billboard Machine Gun Kelly Dons Disguise on 'Kimmel' and Finds Out What People Really Think: 'Not a Huge Fan' MGK Busts Out Killer Jim Carrey Impression, Confirms Bob Dylan Narrated Album Trailer: 'No Idea How He Even Knows Who I Am' Myke Towers & Quevedo Set Charts Ablaze With 'Soleao' 'That s–t doesn't even mean anything to me,' he continued. 'I've let it go completely to where I'm like, 'Oh, that's a joke.' I've realized they're the conformists — you don't even hate me for a reason that you can actually think of, because all I do is entertain, and entertainment can't be that serious.' The rapper-turned-rocker went on to note that most of the hate he gets comes from men. 'I think men let their insecurity rule their entirety,' he mused. 'I think to them, they're like, 'He's supposed to be like this, because this is this carnal, archaic way of what men are …' I'm like, 'Look, we can be protectors and all these other things that we're supposed to be, and also be expressive and vulnerable and emotional, and we can dress how we want, look how we want.'' The interview comes just two days before Lost Americana is set to arrive, with MGK appearing to embrace a rootsier musical sound on the LP after previously cutting his teeth on rap music before pivoting to punk rock on albums Tickets to My Downfall and Mainstream Sellout. To promote the record, the Cleveland-bred musician enlisted one of Americana's biggest heroes, Bob Dylan, to narrate a trailer that dropped in June. At the time, it was unclear whether it was actually Dylan's voice in MGK's video — but on a recent late-night appearance, the latter confirmed that it was authentic. 'To be honest, I have no idea how he even knows who I am to this day,' MGK said on The Tonight Show on Monday (Aug. 4). 'Something's going on in the stars where, like, good things keep happening … I don't know how it keeps happening.' MGK's experimentation with various genres over the course of his career is one of several reasons why he thinks certain people hate him without actual cause. But as he said to People, he just doesn't care: 'I became so hated for, what has become apparent to me, no reason … just because I artistically express myself, through fashion, music, whatever.' He added, 'I choose to not stay contained into a societal box.'
