The Minnesota Twins enter the final game of their 2025 spring training Tuesday vs the Colorado Rockies with a 12-15-3 record in Grapefruit League play. Their rotation has been set for over a week and position players were put in place Monday.

Rocco Baldelli set the Twins' starting rotation over a week ago, the position players were determined shortly after, on Monday. That left one final spot up for grabs in the bullpen, mostly thanks to injuries that have disrupted the reliever plans, entering the season.
Randy Dobnak earns Twins' final bullpen spot
Brock Stewart and Michael Tonkin are starting the year on the injured list. That opened a temporary spot int he bullpen that will initially be filled by Randy Dobnak (long relief), who had previously been cut from Minnesota Twins camp. He pitched six innings this spring and did not allow a run, posting a 7/3 K/BB.
Last season was Dobnak's first in the big leagues since 2021. That's when he suffered a season-ending injury to his middle finger that completely derailed his effectiveness as a pitcher. Last season, Dobnak threw 133 1/3 innings at Triple-A St. Paul, posting a 4.25 ERA and 1.448 WHIP.

Randy Dobnak pitched in five games for the MN Twins last season, tallying a 5.59 ERA across 9 2/3 innings. He'll be in a similar role this time around and look to parlay his spring success into continued momentum at the big league level. Dobnak is in the final year of a five-year, $9.25 million extension he signed with the club prior to the 2021 season.
Minnesota Twins Opening Day roster is set
With Dobnak taking the final bullpen spot, the Minnesota Twins Opening Day roster is now finalized. Rocco Baldelli has 26 players that will make the journey north. Minnesota starts the year with three games in St. Louis and three against the White Sox before kicking things off at Target Field.

Baldelli is certainly hoping that Royce Lewis and Brooks Lee can get healthy sooner rather than later. Their absence gives players like Edouard Julien and Mickey Gasper an opportunity to shine however. Tonkin and Stewart being out paved the way for Varland and Dobnak to start the year at the big league level.

There isn't a ton of ambiguity on the big league roster. Many of the starting roles have consistent options. The MN Twins bullpen, even down a key arm, is projected to be one of the best in baseball. The position player group has plenty of solid talent that is capable of producing a 90-win season.

On the mound Minnesota has a strong top three, and a pair of back-end starters with safe floors. The Minnesota Twins experienced some late injuries during Spring Training, but the roster is in a relatively good spot to open the season.
Baldelli will be hoping his team is ready to hit the ground running and put their late-season collapse from 2024 behind them. Minnesota is currently projected to win the AL Central division. All of that goes out the window once the games start to count though. It's time to get it done on the field.

Yankees Given Trade 'Priority' as Infielder Faces Cut
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. The New York Yankees were handed a series loss by the rival Boston Red Sox on Sunday, though there's no need to hit the panic button. Even after dropping two games to the Red Sox, the Yankees hold a strong lead in the American League East division and are anticipating a significant roster boost when Giancarlo Stanton returns from injury in the near future. After emerging as one of the best teams in baseball this season, the Yankees will be looking for some peripheral improvements at the trade deadline with high hopes of returning to the World Series. But with that deadline approaching in just a few weeks, a clear priority has emerged for the Yankees as infielder Pablo Reyes struggled against the Red Sox and seems in danger of losing his spot on the team. "Reyes had just 28 plate appearances entering Saturday's game and has graded out negatively offensively and defensively in a small sample," Chris Kirschner reported for The Athletic. "Giancarlo Stanton should return in the coming weeks, and Reyes is a candidate to get designated for assignment if a roster spot is needed. ... Getting a better infielder before next month's trade deadline should be a priority for the Yankees." NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MARCH 27: Pablo Reyes #19 of the New York Yankees looks on prior to playing the Milwaukee Brewers on Opening Day at Yankee Stadium on March 27, 2025 in New York City. (Photo by) More Stobe/Getty The Yankees' need for an infield upgrade has been clear since this past winter, but Kirschner noted some issues in the Red Sox series have made it even more apparent. Reyes made a significant mistake in Saturday's game, as he missed a tag at third while standing "two steps in front of the bag and not on the base." "Reyes was a nice spring training story, but the Yankees were fooled by meaningless February and March stats," Kirschner added. "There's not much reason for Reyes to be one of the Yankees' 26 players." If Reyes is moved to make room for Stanton, that would leave Oswald Peraza as the team's only backup infielder. As a result, some kind of infield addition would become all but required before the trade deadline passes. More MLB: Red Sox Predicted to Trade Away 7-Time All-Star if Team's Struggles Continue

Georgia Tech Hits Home Run Hiring James Ramsey as Coach
Georgia Tech Hits Home Run Hiring James Ramsey as Coach originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When it comes to building a winning program, Georgia Tech just swung for the fences, and connected. The Yellow Jackets have named James Ramsey as their new head baseball coach, and the reaction from players, coaches, and alumni has been nothing short of resounding support. A former All-American at Florida State and a rising star in the coaching world, Ramsey now takes the reins of a storied program with high expectations and deep tradition. Advertisement But for those close to the game, Ramsey's promotion was more destiny than surprise. 'James is one of the very best people I've had the privilege to play alongside,' said Minnesota Twins assistant GM Alex Hassan. 'He's an optimist with a positive mindset, always willing to put in the work to get better day after day.' That relentless drive has already paid dividends at Georgia Tech. Over the last seven seasons on staff, Ramsey helped guide the Yellow Jackets to three NCAA Tournament appearances while shaping the program's offensive identity. In 2025, Georgia Tech ranked second in the ACC in team batting average (.304) and first in slugging percentage (.539), marks that reflect his player development prowess. 'His ability to coach baseball athletes at the highest level is self-evident,' said Kyle Boddy, founder of Driveline Baseball. 'He is also one of the earliest adopters of modern training methods and technologies that have become the standard of elite-level baseball coaching.' Advertisement What sets Ramsey apart isn't just his resume, it's his connection to the players and the culture. 'He treats each person he comes in contact with… as though they're one of the most interesting people in the world,' Hassan added. 'You always sense his genuine interest in others.' Georgia Tech fans have seen firsthand what that passion looks like in the dugout. As associate head coach under Danny Hall, Ramsey helped bring in top-25 recruiting classes while also serving as the Jackets' hitting coach. The transition feels both smooth and symbolic. Hall himself endorsed the hire. 'I'm thrilled that James Ramsey is being named head coach,' Hall said. 'He impacted our program in every way.' Advertisement Ramsey's leadership style is rooted in energy, innovation and a deep respect for Georgia Tech's legacy. But his supporters say it's his character that will carry him far. 'James is a man of faith, family, and baseball,' said Tech legend Matt Wieters. 'His passion and knowledge… is exemplary.' As the Yellow Jackets look ahead to the 2026 season, there's renewed energy on The Flats. A hometown hero is taking over, not just with plans to win, but with a vision to elevate. And now, Tech fans have a new name to rally behind: Ramsey. Twins avoid series sweep with 6-3 victory over Blue Jays
Brooks Lee and Christian Vázquez hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning and the Minnesota Twins beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-3 on Sunday to avoid a sweep and snap a three-game skid. Minnesota trailed 3-2 when Lee led off against Bowden Francis with his fifth homer. Vázquez followed with his second and the Twins were never behind again. Joe Ryan (7-2) allowed three runs — two earned — and four hits in five innings to help the Twins end the Blue Jays' four-game winning streak. Brock Stewart, Cole Sands and Griffin Jax all followed with a scoreless inning. Jhoan Duran pitched the ninth for his 10th save in 11 opportunities. Alan Roden doubled in a run in the second inning to give Toronto the lead, but Minnesota answered in its half with an RBI groundout from Vázquez and Trevor Larnach's sacrifice fly for a 2-1 lead. Alejandro Kirk had an RBI single and George Springer doubled in a run to put Toronto ahead 3-2 in the third. Mason Fluharty, who got the final two outs in the fourth, left with two on and one out in the fifth in favor of Erik Swanson. Ty France greeted Swanson with an RBI single for a 5-3 lead and Lee walked to load the bases. Swanson struck out Vázquez looking before Byron Buxton walked to set the final margin. Francis (2-8) allowed four runs and five hits and five walks in 3 1/3 innings. Fluharty gave up two runs in an inning. Toronto (35-30) was trying for its first sweep against Minnesota (35-30) at Target Field since 2013. Vázquez's shot to left after Lee hit one out to right gave the Twins back-to-back home runs for the second time this season and the first time at home. The Twins have walked 164 batters — fewest in the majors and 31 less than the Blue Jays, who walked eight in the finale. The Blue Jays hadn't announced a starter for the first of three in St. Louis beginning Monday. The Cardinals will start RHP Andre Pallante (4-3, 4.91). The Twins will host the Rangers for three games beginning Tuesday. Neither team announced a starter.
