Brodway comes to Erie to raise money for families in crisis
The Erie City Mission kicked off its newest charity event at the Warner Theatre called Broadway by the Bay.
Owners cut the ribbon on new west Erie restaurant, Born & Braised
Thursday night's event featured Broadway singer Ivan Rutherford, who portrayed Jean Valjean over 2,000 times in Les Misérables on Broadway.
The event was also a kickoff to a fundraising effort to build a new 100-bed facility for women and children in crisis in Erie.

'The Erie City Mission services hundreds and possibly thousands of people throughout the year, but most of them are men, so one of Brian Johansson's initiatives when he became CEO was to open a house for women, specifically women and children that are suffering from poverty or addiction,' said James Washburn, co-chair.

'General Hospital' Robert Scorpio actor Tristan Rogers dies at 79
Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Actor Tristan Rogers died Friday at age 79. ABC 7 in California confirmed with Rogers' manager, Meryl Soodak, and The Hollywood Reporter via a statement from General Hospital Executive Producer Frank Valentini. Rogers played Robert Scorpio on the soap opera since 1980. He was introduced as a spy for the fictional World Security Bureau. His most recent appearance was last year, with Scorpio now the District Attorney of Port Charles. He went public with his battle with lung cancer in July. Soodak told ABC 7 Rogers had never smoked. The Melbourne-born Rogers also appeared in The Young and the Restless, Studio City and The Bold and the Beautiful. Will the opera house at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, honor its chair with the name change to 'First Lady Melania Trump Opera House?' Roughly six weeks later, a House panel voted to rename the Kennedy Center venue where Les Mis appeared "First Lady Melania Trump Opera House.' As president of the United States, it's not uncommon to have places, monuments and streets bearing your name. Earlier this month, the road in front of Donald Trump's private club, Mar-a-Lago, known as Southern Boulevard, was approved by Palm Beach County, Florida, commissioners to be renamed President Donald J. Trump Boulevard. Next month's release of Trump Mobile – complete with gold cell phone and monthly plan – is another example. Susan Boyle Tells Oasis ‘You've Made This Girl's Day' After Liam Gallagher Shouts Her Out During Edinburgh Show
Oasis paid tribute to one of Scotland's favorite daughters during the band's final show at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on Wednesday night (Aug. 13) when lead singer Liam Gallagher shouted out Britain's Got Talent legend Susan Boyle. According to NME, Oasis dedicated the 1997 Be Here Now single 'Stand By Me' to Dechmont, Scotland native Boyle at the show, with Gallagher telling the crowd, 'This one's for Susan Boyle.' The singer who rose to fame in 2009 after thrilling audiences with her rendition of 'I Dreamed a Dream' from the musical Les Misérables was blown away by the honor, thanking the band for their kind words in an Instagram post on Thursday (Aug. 14).
