New "Game of Thrones" Spin-Off in Works

HBO has confirmed it is developing another "Game of Thrones" spin-off series following the success of "House of the Dragon".
Season two of "House of the Dragon" ended in August and despite leaving fans and critics disappointed with its low-key finale, season three is already in production.
"Knight of the Seven Kingdoms", another spin-off is set to be released in late 2025.
The series is based on George RR Martin's novella "The Hedge Knight" and stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan 'Dunk' the Tal.
The book is the first in the "Dunk and Egg" series, with subsequent novellas "The Sworn Sword" and "The Mystery Knight" also set to be adapted for following seasons.
HBO is clearly happy to keep diving back into the Game of Thrones well as the network's Head of Drama Series and Films, Francesca Orsi, has revealed that another series is in the works.
Speaking to Deadline, Orsi said: 'We have other spinoffs that we're working on right now, one of which - which I won't get into - is very promising, and it is still the Targaryen line.'
'There's a number of other spinoffs, we can't really guarantee what's going to go forward, but we are very big budget on the other ones. I would say this [A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms] is the most intimate one," she added.
House Targaryen was at the centre of House of the Dragon where the family had united the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros under one ruler.

"Star Wars: Starfighter" Adds Matt Smith to Cast

Yara Sameh Matt Smith is the latest addition to the star-studded cast of Shawn Levy's 'Star Wars: Starfighter' for Lucasfilm. He will appear in a villain role, opposite previously announced cast members Ryan Gosling, and Mia Goth. This isn't Smith's first brush with the 'Star Wars' franchise. The 'House of the Dragon' star was previously cast in 'The Rise of Skywalker,' but ultimately didn't appear in the film. 'We were close to being in it, but it never quite happened. I think the thing they were thinking of before. Eventually, the part became obsolete and they didn't need it. So, I never got to be in 'Star Wars,'' rhe 'Doctor Who' alum told the Happy Sad Confused podcast in 2021. While Smith refrained from elaborating on the role he would have played, many suspected he would portray the son of Emperor Palpatine. 'It was a really groovy part and concept. It was a big thing, a big story detail. A transformative 'Star Wars' story detail. But it never quite got over the line. It was a big shift in the history of the franchise," he added. Smith's additional credits include 'Last Night in Soho,' 'Morbius' and his Emmy-nominated turn as Prince Philip on 'The Crown.' He will soon appear in Darren Aronofsky's 'Caught Stealing' alongside Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz. 'Star Wars: Starfighter' shoots this fall and premieres in theaters on May 28, 2027. Jonathan Tropper wrote the script. He has written prior features for Levy ('The Adam Project,' 'This Is Where I Leave You') and is the creator of the Apple TV+ series 'Your Friends & Neighbors.' Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni officially unveiled plans for 'Starfighter' at the annual Star Wars Celebration event in Tokyo in April. The standalone, which focuses on new characters in the 'Star Wars' universe, is set roughly five years after the events of 'Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker,' which concluded the Skywalker saga and stands as the final feature chronologically on the 'Star Wars' timeline. 'Star Wars: Starfighter' marks Levy's directorial follow-up to Marvel Studios' hit 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' which grossed $1.3 billion at the global box office after releasing in July 2024 and stands as the highest-grossing R-rated feature of all time. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Eddie Murphy to Play Inspector Clouseau in a New "Pink Panther" Movie

Yara Sameh As if Eddie Murphy wasn't already synonymous with iconic franchises, the veteran actor revealed that he'd soon be taking on the famed role of Inspector Clouseau in a new "Pink Panther" movie. He was first reported to be circling the role in 2023. Speaking to Today's Al Roker , Murphy said he had initially 'planned on slowing down, and things just happened' with regard to his slate of upcoming projects. 'I'm getting ready to do a [biopic of] George Clinton, [his music collective] Parliament-Funkadelic. I'm getting ready to do George Clinton,' The Pickup star said, confirming Deadline's scoop last year. 'I've already started Shrek 5. And I'm going to be — I'm Inspector Clouseau in the next Pink Panther.' When Roker reacted with surprise, asking if the canonically French character would still be written as such with Murphy occupying the role, the Saturday Night Live alum responded coyly: 'Maybe. Well, he has to be French, but he could also be Haitian. I will tell you, he's Black. He's Black, for sure.' Peter Sellers first originated the role of Inspector James Clouseau in 1963's "The Pink Panther", directed by Blake Edwards, an Italian and U.S. co-production about an inept detective who must stop a notorious jewel thief aiming to steal the precious Pink Panther diamond. The farcical character is a parody of Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot, and has been portrayed in various sequels by Alan Arkin, Roger Moore and, most recently, Steve Martin in the 2006 reboot and subsequent 2009 sequel. Also known simply as the Inspector, the character additionally appeared in various animated series featuring the anthropomorphic Pink Panther. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

"Bend It Like Beckham" Sequel in Works

Yara Sameh A sequel to Gurinder Chadha's celebrated 2002 film "Bend It Like Beckham", which starred Parminder Nagra and Keira Knightley, is in the works. 'I'm excited to revisit the original characters and revive the enduring story and build on the legacy we helped to create for the women's game,' the London-based director told Deadline. Chadha added that Nagra, Knightley, Archie Panjabi, Juliet Stevenson and other members of the original cast 'are aware that a sequel is being developed, but they obviously want to see a script before they commit". 'I'm pretty certain that everyone's going to want to come back Everything hinges on the script and if the original cast likes it,' Chadha noted. 'I am working really hard to make sure every character I bring back has a decent arc and scenes.' The filmmaker was in Basel, Switzerland, ahead of tomorrow's Women's European Championship final, where England women's soccer team faces Spain — a repeat of their 2023 World Cup clash — she tells the outlet that for 23 years, 'I didn't want to do anything because I didn't have a story. And then I came up with a great story, really super-cool story. So now I'm inspired. Literally came up with it just about a month ago. It's my very clear wish to bring the characters back very, very football is more competitive ,more exciting, and more global than is an honor for me to be a small part of it.' Chadha has been toying around with the prospect of a follow-up movie or television drama for two years, encouraged by the phenomenal increase in worldwide support for women's football. "The aim is to have the sequel ready by 2027 to mark the 25th anniversary of Bend it Like Beckham's 2002 UK opening. It's a key year for the game, with the FIFA Women's World Cup tournament set to kick off in host nation Brazil from June 24-July 25 that year," she pointed out. The original film was based on a screenplay she co-wrote with Guljit Bindra and her husband, Paul Mayeda Berges. Chadha and Berges began discussing the screenwriting process. 'I'm hoping to write it with Paul, who has come up with some very funny lines like he did last time.' During this year's Cannes Film Festival, Chadha was introduced to Emma Hayes, who took over as head coach of the U.S. women's national soccer team in June. They subsequently met and chatted a few times and are now working 'collaboratively' on the sequel. 'Her insights into the world of football at her level are invaluable,' Chadha explained. Hayes said that "Bend it Like Beckham" has had a 'massive impact' on her life. 'I was Keira Knightley in Bend it. I cried in the cinema watching the film because I felt just like Jess and Jules,' the characters Nagra and Knightley played in the movie. 'There was no hope for women's football in Britain then, so I was going to the States to try my luck. Twenty three years ago I could never have dreamed of how much that film changed the women's game and now I have the best job in the world- head coach of the U.S. Women's national team,' Hayes noted. The top sportswoman added that she's happy to be 'helping Gurinder with all my experience and insight into the game.' "Bend it Like Beckham" also has won support from Lisa Nandy MP, Britain's Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, who lauded the project for capturing 'something so special about Britain — our spirit, our diversity, and our ability to dream big in the face of challenge.' Nandy added that Chadha's story 'resonated far beyond the screen and became part of our cultural DNA.' The Cabinet member's statement notes that the announcement "of a sequel is a brilliant moment for British film. It builds on a legacy that continues to inspire and shows the world what British storytelling can do. Films like this help tell our national story, remind us who we are, and who we can be.' Indeed, the film has become a cultural touchstone over the years, with many of the leading lights in the world of women's soccer proclaiming "Bend it Like Beckham" as their main source of inspiration back in the day when the amateur antics of women playing soccer were laughed at. Since then, the sport has become huge, with millions following professional women's clubs and national teams around the world. Chadha recounted how, with the first film, she 'couldn't even get arrested making it. Everyone was like, 'We're not interested. Who wants to see a film about girls playing football?' Everyone laughed me out of the rooms.' For her, the film 'was about lifting up girls and noting, 'You can do and you can be anything you want, even though society dictates what you can and can't do,' and that message is still relevant today, even though we have women and women's soccer sides so huge around the world. The film's been part of that legacy, and I feel there's more that I can do. So that's what I'm writing and that's what I'm focusing on. It will be hard-hitting, of course, but it will also be incredibly joyous,". 'Let's hope we can bring back that same joy and feel good about putting women and girls on the map like we did 23 years ago.' In "Bend it Like Beckham", Nagra plays Jasminder, a teenager besotted with soccer sensation David Beckham — then a player with Manchester United and the England men's squad — who is determined to play soccer against the wishes of her parents. Knightley plays her friend Jules, who also likes to land the ball at the back of the net. Jonathan Rhys Meyers was cast as the fictional Hounslow Harriers team manager. Chadha's latest film, "Christmas Karma," starring Eva Longoria, Kunal Nayyar, Hugh Bonneville, Charithra Chandran and Danny Dyer, will be released by True Brit Entertainment in the UK and Ireland on November 14. Negotiations for other territories, including the U.S., Australia, and India, are being finalized. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language
