German Grand Prix to stay on MotoGP calendar until 2031
The new deal will see MotoGP celebrate the Sachsenring's 100th anniversary in 2027 as motorcycle racing's premier class capitalises on the growing interest in the sport, which had more than 250,000 fans attend the Grand Prix at the weekend.
'Saxony is motor racing country. The new record attendance at the weekend showed again how much we love motor racing in Saxony,' Michael Kretschmer, prime minister of Saxony, said.
Ducati's Marc Marquez won the German Grand Prix on Sunday to extend his world championship lead to 83 points, proving again why he is known as the 'King of Sachsenring' after claiming his ninth MotoGP victory at the circuit.

The factory Ducati rider beat Marco Bezzecchi on an Aprilia by almost two seconds, while Pedro Acosta on a KTM came in third in his first race podium finish of the season. Marquez had a fifth straight perfect weekend, winning both the sprint on Saturday and Sunday's race. The 32-year-old Spaniard now leads the world championship with 381 points, 120 ahead of his younger brother Alex who crashed, and 168 ahead of Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia. Bagnaia started from pole on a sunny Sunday at Brno but only retained the lead until the second lap when Bezzecchi eased past him, with Marquez following suit soon afterwards. Acosta did the same to settle down in third after getting a boost from a third-place finish in Saturday's sprint. Marquez glided past Bezzecchi in lap eight as the runaway trio kept building up their lead, and as so often this season kept widening the gap comfortably. The three stayed put until the finish line, although fourth-placed Bagnaia gave Acosta a hard time pressing from behind. Reigning world champion Jorge Martin collected his first points after finishing seventh in the first race he has completed this year. Martin sat out the first three races following two pre-season crashes, and when he returned at Qatar in April, he crashed heavily again during the race and missed the next seven. Alex Marquez retired after crashing in lap two to leave Brno without a point following a disappointing 17th spot in the sprint race. He took out Joan Mir who also walked away from the gravel safety area, just like Enea Bastianini a lap later. The MotoGP circus will now take a summer break and resume with the Austrian GP on August 15-17.

Marc Marquez dominates Czech GP to win fifth race in a row
Marc Marquez became the first Ducati rider to win five main races in a row with victory at the Czech Grand Prix on Sunday, widening his championship lead over brother Alex Marquez, who crashed out during the second lap after contact with Honda's Joan Mir. Two-time champion Francesco Bagnaia could not capitalise on his first pole position of the season, losing the lead to Aprilia's Marco Bezzecchi after a slip towards the end of the first lap, before settling for fourth in the 12th round of the season. Bagnaia's teammate Marc, who also won the sprint on Saturday, took the lead from Bezzecchi during lap eight, and left the Italian 1.753 seconds behind to register a statement eighth race win in the campaign. Reigning champion Jorge Martin, who has missed 10 rounds due to injury setbacks, marked his comeback by completing his first race of the year, finishing seventh. South Africa's Brad Binder finished ninth.

Moto GP returns to The Czech Republic's Brno Circuit
JOHANNEBSURG - After a 5-year hiatus, Moto GP has returned to The Czech Republic's Brno Circuit this weekend. Despite needing to re-familiarize himself with the track he last won at in 2019, Marc Marquez once again rose to the top of the sprint race results. While Ducati's Pecco Bagnaia did enough to secure pole position for the sprint, the Spaniard quickly took the lead even though a tire pressure issue temporarily saw him lose the lead. Today however, there is the matter of the main race with many expecting the runaway championship leader Marquez to once again claim the top spot on the podium. eNCA's Nicole Kente spoke to 11-time national super bike champion Clinton Seller as we build up to the 2pm start.
