16 And Pregnant star Whitney Purvis on suicide watch while in jail over overdose death she's charged for

Daily Mail08-07-2025
MTV star Whitney Purvis, who appeared on the reality show 16 And Pregnant, is on suicide watch as she is in prison over a fatal February 17 drug overdose she was formally charged with on Monday.
The 33-year-old reality star is being monitored in the Georgia jail where she is being held for involuntary manslaughter according to TMZ on Tuesday.
Law enforcement sources for the publication claim that Purvis was medically designated and committed within the jail system after making suicidal comments.
The insiders also allege that the reality star is also going through detox as she withdrawals from drug use.
This news comes after it was revealed that she had penned an emotional memorial to the man who passed away from the drug overdose.
On March 3, Purvis took to the site of the funeral home which handled arrangements for John Mark Harris, a 37-year-old chef who authorities said Purvis provided deadly drugs to that led to his tragic end.
'John mark, I hate that I found out what happened today and missed your funeral,' Purvis wrote on the Henderson & Sons Funeral Home site. 'I wish I could've found out sooner and attended your celebration of life.'
The MTV star posted the message more than three months before she was arrested Monday in Floyd County, Georgia in connection with with involuntary manslaughter and distribution of a controlled substance, among other felony counts, TMZ reported Monday.
Purvis 'distributed a substance presented as "Tranq," commonly known as Xylazine and Fentanyl, to the victim, which directly contributed in the victim's death due to a toxic overdose,' law enforcement officials said in an arrest affidavit reviewed by People.
It's been an awful year for Purvis, who would later pen an emotional memorial for her son Weston following his death at the age of 16 on June 2; Daily Mail has reached out to Purvis via Instagram for further comment on this story.
Purvis thanked her late confidante 'for being such a great friend to me and always making me feel beautiful and cared for.'
Purvis said that her late friend had been a dear one, as they grew close over their passion for cooking: 'We bonded over being chefs, our love of cooking and our struggle.'
Harris had been employed as a chef at Barnsley Gardens, a popular North Georgia resort.
She praised Harris for his candor and intelligence in their interactions over the years.
Purvis penned an emotional statement in memory of her late friend - whose death she was subsequently charged in
'I could tell you anything and you always knew what to say or give me your honest opinion and advice,' Purvis said.
The MTV alum added 'You've came to my rescue on many occasions and saved me over the years.
'I am so very thankful for the times we had together.'
Purvis - who's also charged with use of a communication device to commit a felony involving controlled substances - said that she was dealing with serious emotional trauma over the loss of her friend.
'My brain just can't process this happened,' she said. 'I don't want it to be true.'
Purvis listed off a number of things she associated with Harris that she would miss in the wake of his passing.
'I'll miss waking up to your silly messages and pictures you'd send me,' she said. 'I'll miss marshal and lunchbox. I'll miss your amazing cooking.
'I'll miss snuggling on the couch watching tv with you. I'll miss sitting outside, smoking camel crush cigs w/ you how we talked about talked about life, gossiping and you telling me what movies/shows I need to watch next.'
Purvis characterized her late friend as 'a truly good hearted, one of a kind man' who she would 'never forget.'
Purvis, who has more than 17,500 followers on Instagram, wrapped up in saying: 'Rest in peace and my condolences to your family and friends.
'I pray they are able to find some kind of comfort during this tragic time. I love you forever, John Mark. Love, Whitney.'
Whitney has been arrested a number of times before. In 2015 she landed in jail after allegedly attacking ex-boyfriend, and father of her two sons, Weston Gosa, with a broom handle
Following the death of her son last month, Purvis spoke on social media about how she was understandably struggling in the wake of her child's unexpected passing.
'This is so hard to write,' Purvis said. 'My beautiful son, Weston has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just dont understand.
'Oh my baby is gone and I don't know what to do with myself. He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true.
'How do you go on in life after losing a child?'
Purvis said she was 'in disbelief,' thinking that 'this cannot be happening' and that she didn't 'want it to be real.'
She added of her late son: 'I love you so much, Weston Owen Gosa. I would do anything just to hold him. Words just can't describe the pain I am feeling.
'God, I love you so much. You are my heart. I was so proud of the young man you were becoming. I just can't go on without you.

Memory cafes at the National Comedy Center ignite laughter and connection for dementia patients

Side by side on a sofa inside the National Comedy Center, Gail and Mario Cirasunda chuckled at a clip from the 1980s sitcom 'Family Ties' that was playing on a TV screen. The show's oldest daughter, Mallory, was introducing her unconventional artist boyfriend Nick to her bewildered television family. 'I think our daughter brought him home once. Maybe two of our daughters!' Gail said with a laugh over coffee and donuts later. 'Five daughters, two sons,' her husband Mario, 85, chimed in. 'Sometimes I'd wonder,' he smiled, shaking his head at the memories of the couple's own family antics over their 59-year marriage. Moments like this are what brought the Cirasundas to the comedy museum in western New York and the memory cafe taking place inside. The monthly events invite people with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other memory loss, and their caregivers, to spend time at the interactive museum. For visitors like Mario, who has dementia, and his wife, the scenes and artifacts from funny shows and comedians have a way of triggering shared laughs and connection, and, as comedy center staff have found, memories. Gail, 78, treasures the moments when Mario — who still vividly recalls his childhood route to school and the names of old friends — also recollects experiences from their shared life. A 1965 blind date after Mario got out of the Navy led to seven children, 24 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, careers and moves. However, memories made over a lifetime together have become increasingly elusive over the past several years, since about the time Mario started to get lost driving and forget whether he likes a particular food. At a recent memory cafe, the Cirasundas, from suburban Buffalo, and others spent the morning walking through the museum that was inspired by 'I Love Lucy' star Lucille Ball in her hometown of Jamestown. Gail kept a guiding hand on her husband's elbow as they smiled through Johnny Carson bits from 'The Tonight Show' in the center's late night studio, browsed standup comic George Carlin's personal notes and comedian Bob Hope artifacts, and laughed out loud at a display of classic comedy props like the banana peel and pie in the face. During a break in the museum's restaurant, the 'Family Ties' video evoked scenes from real life. 'The moments are precious because he might not remember it,' Gail explained, 'but when you're there talking about it, you're remembering. Five minutes later, it's gone — but you had that moment.' The Alzheimer's Association estimates 7.2 million Americans over the age of 65 are living with Alzheimer's dementia, and an even higher number of people care for an impacted friend or family member. Memory cafes have emerged around the world in recent years as a way to connect and support individuals and caregivers, and provide information and resources. Many of the more than 600 cafes regularly running in the U.S. — often meeting in libraries and community centers — bring in speakers and engage participants with physical activity, music and art, all of which are good for the brain, experts say. The National Comedy Center held its first one earlier this year. It seemed a natural fit after staff heard from patrons about the museum's impact on their loved ones. Spokesman Gary Hahn sees the center as a kind of time machine, with exhibits memorializing comedy from Vaudeville to viral memes that can transport visitors back, no matter their age. Even before the formal memory cafes began, a visitor told the center's staff that his wife with dementia seldom spoke — but would become more verbal while walking through the museum and laughing alongside him. 'There was a stimulation of the part of the brain, whether it's because of the nostalgia or the comedy, that had an impact on her,' said Journey Gunderson, the center's executive director. Shelia Kennison, an author and psychology professor at Oklahoma State University, said humor positively affects physiology in many ways. 'It takes most of your brain to process what's being said or being shown to you and then to find the humor, and then once that happens, it sets off this cascade of brain activity and physiological changes that affects the whole body," said Kennison, who studies how humor is involved in cognition, memory and overall wellbeing. "So it really is a whole brain workout and a whole body workout when you get that really funny joke that makes you laugh and slap your knee and rock back and forth.' Laughter has always been important to Gail and Mario Cirasunda, whose children often gave their father Peter Sellers ' 'Pink Panther' movies as gifts so they could see him laugh. 'Keep a sense of humor in your marriage,' Gail's boss told her before she got married. Even through the challenges, she said, she's followed the advice.

Shock twist in Scott Wolf's ugly divorce with wife of 21 years

A shocking twist has taken place amid Scott Wolf's ugly divorce battle with his estranged wife Kelley. Last month on June 10, it was revealed that the Party Of Five actor, 57, had filed for divorce from his wife after 21 years of marriage and welcoming three children together. However only days later, Kelley was detained by police, which had been accidentally caught on camera, and taken to a Utah hospital for a mental health evaluation. She later claimed that she was placed under an involuntary mental health hold 'again' by police earlier this month. On June 25, Wolf requested for a temporary restraining order against the mom-of-three which he was granted. But in a major turn of events, the TRO was dropped after it was dissolved by a Utah judge on Saturday due to an agreement Scott and Kelley reached, according to court documents obtained by People. The agreement was made earlier this week on Tuesday - and contains a number of terms revolving around visitation, communication as well as finances. But in a major turn of events, the TRO was dropped after it was dissolved by a Utah judge on Saturday due to an agreement Scott and Kelley reached, according to court documents obtained by People Wolf has also been granted sole custody of their three kids: Jackson, 16, Miller, 12, and Lucy, 11. Per the agreement that had been reached, Kelley will be allowed to have 'liberal' supervised time with her children. This includes supervised time with her kids in person that has been worked out ahead of time by counsel. She is also allowed to have either three phone or video calls with her children - also supervised. If any of her kids reach out to her first, Kelley has been given permission to also respond. Both Scott and Kelley cannot discuss certain topics in front of their children, including adult issues, divorce and their kids' relationship with either parent. The estranged couple also are not permitted to ask their kids what goes on at the other parent's place of residence. A gag order has also been put in place for both parties which prohibits either Scott or Kelley from posting and commenting about each other on social media. They also cannot talk about their children, divorce or marriage, and any third party is further prohibited from making posts/comments regarding the above topics. The end goal over a certain period time would be for Kelley to return to having unsupervised time with her three children. On June 25, Wolf requested for a TRO which was granted. At the time, Judge Richard Mrazi said that Kelley, 'has been engaged in an escalating pattern of behavior that poses a substantial threat of immediate and irreparable harm to the party's minor children,' per Today. The judge also said that Scott's estranged wife has made 'threats to remove the party's minor children from the country.' While the TRO has officially been dropped, a hearing that had been set for July 21 is also no longer taking place. The actor will remain at their Park City, Utah residence with their children - while Kelley will be allowed to only enter the property during supervised time with her kids. Scott will also have full control of marital funds, with Kelley receiving $10,000 each month to cover living costs. The star will also cover her other monthly bills such as car and credit card payments, as well as some attorney fees. The new twist in the estranged couple's divorce comes shortly after Kelley claimed she was placed under an involuntary mental health hold 'again' by police - who she alleges abused her in custody. Kelley took to Instagram over the past weekend to level curious claims against the Summit County Police Department - alleging she had been 'thrown down the stairs' by cops while on a seven day 'involuntary hold' - after being 'taken' from Sundance. However, Summit County Police Department confirmed to they were not involved in any response to Sundance Resort on July 6 - as Sundance is not located in Summit County. Sharing a photo of her bruised arm, Kelley alleged: 'I was held for 7 days and they tried to keep me for 90. I will not be quiet anymore. I cannot be quiet anymore.' She claimed of her injuries: 'This is from the police. I will get myself safe but I'm asking for help. Thrown down stairs. Broke my wrist, Contusions on my head. I'm bruised everywhere and I literally was released last night. This is the SECOND time. 'Summit county police took me from Sundance on July 6. I was in a hot tub. Placed me on an involuntary hold at Summit county Behavioral health. The truth must be told.' A further post saw Kelley say: 'I love my kids. I'm not crazy. I need help. And I want my kids back. That's all for now.' A Summit County Police Department spokesman said in a statement they are 'aware of several photographs and social media posts circulating that inaccurately claim "Summit County Police" responded to an incident at Sundance (Resort) on July 6, including allegations of a confrontation involving Summit County law enforcement. 'Sundance Resort is not located within Summit County, and therefore, no law enforcement agency from Summit County, including the Summit County Sheriff's Office , would be involved in incidents occurring there. 'I can confirm that the Summit County Sheriff's Office was not involved in any response to Sundance on July 6.' has contacted representatives for Utah County Sheriff's Office, Summit County Behavioral Health, Sundance Mountain Resort and Scott Wolf for comment but has yet to hear back. The Boston-born actor's brother Michael Wolf also entered a declaration in the matter, Us Weekly reported after reviewing court docs. 'It's so sad for the kids, but Kelley is ready to fight like hell for her children,' an insider close to Kelley, a mental health professional, told the outlet. The source added: 'It is not warranted, it's cruel. And it's incorrect.' On June 9, Wolf submitted to the court documents indicating his desire to divorce Kelley, who he exchanged vows with in May of 2004. Before Scott had his restraining order in place and had temporary custody of their three kids, Kelley was detained by police after strange comments she made to her father and others. On June 13, Kelley shared footage of police arriving to take her to the hospital while she was on an Instagram Live stream. Deputies responded to the Sundance Resort for a report of a female that needed some help,' read a statement from law enforcement obtained by People. 'Upon speaking with the female, our Deputies learned that she had made concerning comments to a family member, and she also made similar comments to our Deputies,' the statement continued. 'For that reason, our Deputies transported the female to a local hospital.' Kelley later confirmed she was placed under an 'involuntary 5150,' which is 'a critical intervention used to detain individuals who are considered a danger to themselves or others or are gravely disabled due to a mental disorder,' per the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Ricki Lake, 56, reveals how long ago she REALLY had her facelift after going public with procedure

Ricki Lake celebrated the one-year anniversary of her facelift on Instagram this week, after going public with the procedure last month. The 56-year-old talk-show icon has embarked on a long process of revamping her appearance, slimming down and arriving at her 130lb goal by January. However the process of losing weight left her with 'extra skin that hung from below my chin,' so in July 2024 she went under the knife to have it tightened. She openly discussed the procedure for the first time on TV this June, saying she was 'fully transparent' and did not 'want there to be any stigma.' Now she has fired up her Instagram to share a suite of photos documenting the process, including a side-by-side before-and-after comparison. 'One year ago today I did a thing,' she wrote Friday. 'Yes, today July 18th, is the one year anniversary of my deep plane lower face and neck lift, plus a mild co2 laser.' She showered praise on her Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Allen Foulad, saying she 'was in the best of hands' and calling him 'a true master in his field.' Ricki revealed: 'After a dear friend had the most incredible experience with Dr, Foulad, I made the decision to follow in her footsteps.' The Hairspray actress explained the thinking that led to the surgery, saying: 'I had lost 40 lbs and did not like the extra skin that hung from below my chin. It was never going to tighten up on its own. Not at 55.' She assured fans: 'Trust me, when I tell you, I still felt extra cute and loved myself regardless, especially after working so hard to get in the best shape of my life.' Ricky declared: 'This procedure was the icing on the cake. One year later, I look back on my brave choice and consider it one of the best decisions I ever made for myself. I share with all of you, as I am an open book and always will be.' The accompanying Instagram album offered a deep dive into the story behind Ricki's facelift, with photos showing her first consultation with the plastic surgeon, the 'the area I disliked,' some post-op 'bruising and swelling.' One of the photos showed her sitting in bed with her head bandaged, cuddling up to her 'sweet' third husband, lawyer Ross Burningham. 'He was so nervous yet so supportive,' gushed Ricki, who celebrated her third wedding anniversary with Ross this January. Ricki first announced her facelift 11 months after it occurred, during an appearance on Watch What Happens: Live! with host Andy Cohen. Name-checking her surgeon, she explained that the skin that had been 'hanging' from her neck after her weight loss had been 'bothering me,' so she 'had it fixed.' Andy, who lives in New York, rhapsodized that he was 'going to LA' for Ricki's procedure, adding: 'I've seen a lot of work in these chairs. That's really good.' Ricki embarked on her weight loss transformation amid the Ozempic craze sweeping Hollywood, but insisted she herself did not use the diabetes medication. 'I did not go on any drug because I wasn't prediabetic,' she told Us Weekly. 'There's nothing wrong with those drugs. They're actually game changers for so many people. But for me, I did not want to be reliant on a drug if I could help it.' Instead, Ricki maintained that her means of slimming down included intermittent fasting and the fashionable keto diet, combined with an exercise regimen that featured Pilates and two-mile hikes with a weighted vest everyday. She also wore a glucose monitor, as well as a device called an Oura ring that monitors a battery of biometrics like sleep, movement and stress. 'I prioritized sleep and overall, a low-stress lifestyle. And it worked. It continues to work,' said Ricki, who once weighed as much as 260lbs.
