Katy Perry springs into action after little girl collapses on stage

Metro2 days ago
Katy Perry paused her concert mid-performance as a 12-year-old girl collapsed on stage, prompting her to rush into action.
While performing in her Lifetimes Tour in Detroit, Michigan on Sunday night (August 3), the Roar singer brought some young fans up to perform with her.
She hand-picked four audience members, two of which came from the very top corner of the arena, and took some time to make it to the stage.
'Did you ever think in a million years you'd be on stage?' Katy, 40, asked the girls, who introduced themselves as Paige and McKenna, as they gave her a big hug.
They stood with the band ready for a rendition of 2010 hit The One That Got Away, then in a dramatic turn, McKenna collapsed.
Katy immediately dropped to her knees to check on her, calling for help as staff members rushed on stage and the lights were dimmed.
In videos posted on social media, Katy could be seen staying by the youngster's side as medics assessed her.
It's unclear if she was conscious, but thankfully, McKenna didn't appear to have hit her head in the fall and was removed on a stretcher.
The crowd chanted 'McKenna' before the Woman's World singer led the remaining children in a prayer for her health and continued with the show.
'Dear God, we pray for McKenna, that she will come back fully and brighter and better than ever. Amen,' she said.
'It's so much. Sometimes you're so brave and you can get on stage, and it's overwhelming. I understand that feeling.'
While singing Roar later in the show — perched on a flying butterfly — Katy shared that McKenna was 'doing great' and pointed to the spot she had fallen.

Katy herself had a terrifying moment on stage, or rather above it, when on said butterfly as it came loose one show and dropped slightly. More Trending
She paused singing and regained her composure before continuing with the set as planned (and getting off that thing as fast as possible).
However, it's not been all bad news for the Dark Horse hitmaker as a new romance appeared to blossom after her split from Orlando Bloom.
Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was seen at her gig in Montreal, days after the two were filmed dining together at a high-end local restaurant.
Meanwhile, her actor ex decided to brush off the personal drama and headed to an Oasis gig, singing his heart out.

At the height of Oasis' fame in the 90s and 00s, the rock band were known to be big party animals with drink and drugs being a huge part of their rock and roll star status. ‌ The Gallagher brothers have since scaled it down with their antics with Liam previously admitting he had stopped drinking ahead of their reunion tour in order to 'get healthy'. However, getting healthy does not mean he's lost his sense of humour as fans praised his light hearted nature after the clip was posted on TikTok by user 1981quarterpounder, the Metro reports. ‌ In the comments, one social media user joked: "What mysterious activity is he suggesting to us" while another wrote: "Just Liam being Liam." A third penned: "Never change. Honestly made me laugh so much." ‌ Meanwhile, other people were concerned the Oasis star was 'setting a bad example' for younger fans, sparking debate about his 'sense of humour'. One disapproving person remarked: "A good example for the young generation". Another fan responded to this comment, saying: "Not his job to bring kids up properly. Fair enough if he was straight up encouraging it but he's not so". ‌ Other fans argued Liam could have simply been struggling with hayfever or a cold and was miming blowing his nose instead. One joked: "He's trying to say he's going to blow his nose as his hayfever is giving him some grief… what else could he be saying?" ‌ Another chimed in: "Poor Liam suffering from hay fever, must be bad constantly blowing your nose when your trying to perform." Liam often made headlines back in the day for his tendency to overindulge in drugs and destroy one or two hotel rooms in his wake. Meanwhile, his older brother Noel, 58, who was generally seen as more reserved. ‌ Liam developed a reputation of causing a riot at after parties with drink and drugs fuelling his antics. He once smashed up the studio they were recording in with a cricket bat, which also ended up being used by Noel to whack his sibling on the head. ‌ In their Supersonic biography, Michael Spencer Jones, the photographer behind Oasis' first three album covers, said a local repairman declared they hadn't seen damage like that 'since Ozzy Osbourne and Sabbath were recording [t]here.' Speaking to The Guardian in 2017, the Champagne Supernova singer shared: "There are a few of my mates that ain't here no more, through drugs. There are a few that are in the nick. "So I think I wouldn't have got a proper job because I'm not that clever with that stuff. So I'd have been digging or dead or really badly into drugs, which would obviously lead to being dead. "Rock 'n' roll saved my life. And I am forever in debt. I am forever in debt to rock 'n' roll, and I would never, ever think of doing another form of music. Ever."

The series has won a number of awards but lost more than a million viewers over its six-week run OFF AIR BBC axe drama after just one series in huge surprise to show's Oscar nominated creator who believed it could 'run & run' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) STEVEN KNIGHT is a man in demand, with a James Bond movie script to deliver and Oasis' tour documentary to oversee. So hopefully his busy diary will soften the blow of the news I can reveal that the BBC has axed his critically-acclaimed drama This Town after just one series. Steven saw it as his next massive hit after Peaky Blinders and felt it could run and run, in the same way the Brummie gangster epic did. He made no secret of wanting to film more episodes of This Town, commenting at the time the first series aired: 'I certainly have enough ideas for more episodes going forward. 'I hope we are with these characters for a long time to come.' But cancelling the drama, a BBC spokesman said: 'We're hugely grateful to Steven Knight and the cast and crew for bringing This Town to life — in no small part due to Steven's passion for the West Midlands. 'We look forward to working with him on new projects in the future and we're in talks about what's next.' This Town won the Royal Television Society Award for Limited Series and Single Drama earlier this year. But it lost more than a million viewers over its six-week run, having pulled in more than 3.2million for the first episode at the end of March last year. A BBC insider confirmed that Steven's busy schedule, which also includes writing ten-episode World War Two epic Roads To Freedom, was not a reason for the decision. Neither can the blame be placed on the cast, which included Michelle Dockery, not being available.
