How to make the perfect burger
Yes, there is a correct way to assemble your burger to keep all the ingredients intact. Here's how to stack to perfect burger.
ProblemSolved, Reviewed
If you are a fan of hamburgers, then Wednesday, May 28, is a good day to grab one – it's National Hamburger Day.
No one knows how May 28 became the unofficial hamburger holiday, according to the National Day Calendar, but its proximity to Memorial Day and the outdoor grilling season could be a reason.
Hamburgers don't really need a special day as they are a staple of dining out and eating at home. Americans eat an estimated 50 billion burgers. The average U.S consumer eat 26 burgers per year from restaurants, drive-throughs and other food service operations, according to Circana, based on research from the 12 months ending March 2025.
Burgers and cheeseburgers, are among America's favorite entrées, according to YouGov's regularly updated list of The Most Popular American Dishes. On YouGov's list, only french fries and mashed potatoes rank slightly higher (with an 85% and 84% popularity ranking, respectively, for each of those side dishes). The hamburger earned 83% (tied with fried chicken and grilled cheese sandwich) and the cheeseburger 82%.

NEVER Do These 10 Things In A Drive-Thru, According To Fast Food Workers
Fast food drive-thrus are designed for convenience, but there are some unspoken etiquette rules to follow. We dug through Reddit threads and compiled a list from fast food employees about their biggest drive-thru pet peeves. Offenses include placing a large order, being indecisive, smoking, and playing loud music. The drive-thru window has been a game-changer for the fast food industry. Nearly every chain has one, so you can grab a Crunchwrap Supreme or McDonald's Coke without even parking your car. But we've all sat in a line that's felt less than convenient–and it's likely the result of some drive-thru faux pas. To keep things moving, fast food workers say there are a few etiquette rules every customer should know. We scoured Reddit—from subs for all fast food employees to ones dedicated specifically to McDonald's and Starbucks—and compiled a pretty extensive list. Here's what workers hate the most (and wish you'd stop doing): 1. Smoking Or Vaping Just don't. Not everyone wants smoke blown in their face—or the smell that lingers. "The smoking thing makes me so angry," one Reddit user wrote. "I'm already breathing tons of carcinogens from car exhaust, don't smoke there and add to it!" 2. Being Indecisive When Ordering We know it's tough to decide, but please, hurry up. (Here's Delish-approved inspo from the McDonald's Dollar Menu and Wendy's breakfast menu.) "Find out what your passengers want before you're at the speaker," one Reddit user commented. "If you're not familiar with the menu, go inside and order carry out." 3. Placing Orders From The Passenger Seat Drive-thru speakers are already hard to hear through, and loud passengers make it even more difficult for employees to get your order right. Be prepared! "I get you want to order for yourself, but unless you're screaming, we CANNOT hear you. It won't kill your dad or boyfriend to say your order," a Reddit user wrote. 4. Placing A Massive Order If you're placing a large order, head inside instead of holding up the line. "Customers who order +$20 worth of anything in the drive-thru are a big one for me," a Reddit user posted on the thread. "If your order is going to cost that much, please park." 5. Getting Distracted By Your Phone Scrolling through Instagram will only get you distracted and slow down the line. Be aware when it's your turn to move forward, rather than stalling everyone else. "SITTING ON YOUR PHONE IN THE DRIVE THRU WITHOUT PAYING ATTENTION!!!," one frustrated Reddit user posted. 6. Ordering More Food At The Second Window The pick-up window is for paying and grabbing your food—and that's it. "Please try not to order anything at the second window/window where you get your food," a Reddit user begged. "Especially during our busy hours or if you are adding on more than one simple item." 7. Not Having Your Payment Ready Rummaging through your wallet or paying in loose change slows everything down. Get your payment ready while waiting in line, and not at the window. "Don't pay anything like $5 or more in all change," one Reddit user wrote. "Especially in anything not quarters." 8. Having Loud Engines Or Playing Loud Music It's already difficult to hear through a headset. Don't make it worse with obnoxiously loud engines or music. "Turn off your engine if you have a loud exhaust," a Reddit user suggested. 9. Handing Them Your Garbage It's gross and unsanitary. And if you couldn't guess, drive-thru workers hate it. There's even an entire Reddit thread about it. 10. Checking Your Entire Order At The Window It's okay to double-check that your order is correct, but pull forward to keep things moving instead of blocking the line. "Have some courtesy for the people behind you," this Reddit user wrote, "and go find a parking space to check on your food in." Hilarity As Cat Owners Share How Their Pets 'Trained' Them for Parenthood
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. In a viral Instagram video, a couple of cat owners from Italy revealed all the ways in which their felines have prepared them for parenthood, and internet users can't cope with the hilarious footage. Shared on Saturday under the username @turbo_piuma_pila, the clip shows the poster patiently dealing with each of their cats' demands. These range from early-morning feedings to forced cuddles on the bed while they try to sleep, with the owner gaining precious parenting experience while doing so. "How my cats trained me for parenthood," reads layover text in the clip, "1—sleep deprivation. 2—learning to decode wordless communication. 3—accepting that personal space is a myth. 4—Perfecting the art of patience." As if that wasn't enough, the poster also adds in the caption: "I would add that we're also used to cleaning their litter waste." American pet owners, especially Gen Zers and millennials, increasingly see their pets as their fur-babies, and even buy them surprise gifts on their birthday and for Christmas. Pets are actually getting more presents than some people. About 3 in 10 Americans buy Christmas presents for their pet, according to data by YouGov, while only 1 in 10 get gifts for their co-workers or neighbors. Owners love their furry companions so much that more than half of them would be willing to pay over a thousand dollars to save them from a life-threatening ailment. When YouGov asked pet owners if they would save their closest pet or a person from a sinking boat, about 43 percent of respondents said the person, and at least 39 percent went with their closest pet. Stock image: A human hand holds a white fluffy cat up in the air. Stock image: A human hand holds a white fluffy cat up in the air. getty images The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 140,000 views and almost 8,000 likes on the platform. One user, Merely_michela, commented: "The way they were gathered around the sonogram." Oreoandpumpkinspice posted: "They trained you purrfectly!" Somaliamore added: "I'm sure it's a walk in the park after that." Another user, ildragoscintillante, commented: "I think I have watched this video about 20 times now, looking for the right comment to write. But the only thing I can think of is [10 laughing faces]." Newsweek reached out to @turbo_piuma_pila for comment via Instagram comments. We could not verify the details of the case. For the Best-Tasting Chicken, I've Memorized This Perfect 3-Ingredient Marinade
When you want to take chicken to the next level, a great marinade can do all the heavy lifting for you. With the right mix of ingredients, these marinades are easy, bold, and ready to transform whatever cut you're working with. We've got the easiest 3-ingredient marinade for juicy grilled chicken, and an all-purpose fajita marinade that's perfect for sizzling chicken fajitas on a weeknight. There are also super-flavorful blender marinades like a citrus-chile marinade that packs tangy heat, and a creamy tamarind-yogurt marinade that gently tenderizes chicken. Whether you're firing up the grill or just planning ahead for meal prep, these homemade marinades are here to make your dinner better. Here are 15 easy and flavorful chicken marinades to add to your roster. The Ultimate Chicken Marinade The right marinade for chicken guarantees two things: flavor and juiciness. Marinades are always some combination of an acid (think: lemon juice), some fat, and some sweetness. This lemony chicken marinade is guaranteed to leave you with juicy chicken hot off the grill. Go to Recipe Citrus-Chile Blender Marinade This easy marinade is made with orange and lime juices, canned chipotle peppers, onion, and garlic. Go to Recipe 3-Ingredient Yogurt Marinated Chicken Yogurt makes boneless, skinless chicken infinitely more tender, and a yogurt marinade is as easy as one-two-three: one cup of yogurt, two citrus fruits, and three garlic cloves. Go to Recipe Easy Vinaigrette This all-purpose dressing is thick with just the right amount of tangy, savory flavor, and a hint of sweetness. Balsamic, red wine, and white wine vinegar are all great choices here, although any type of vinegar works. The best thing about this vinaigrette is that you can use it as a marinade, too! Go to Recipe Spicy Lemongrass Blender Marinade This versatile marinade is made with lemongrass, fresh ginger, chile garlic sauce, shallots, and lime juice. Go to Recipe All-Purpose Fajita Marinade Sizzling chicken fajitas are exactly what your weeknight needs. This fajita marinade is made with freshly squeezed lime juice, sliced onion and bell pepper, and flavor-packed dried spices. Go to Recipe Greek Salad Dressing This salad dressing does double duty as a bright and flavorful marinade. It has just the right amount of tang from a combo of red wine vinegar and lemon juice. Best of all, you can mix it together in less than five minutes and it's the perfect marinade for Greek chicken. Go to Recipe Tamarind-Yogurt Blender Marinade This easy, tangy blender marinade is made with tamarind paste, yogurt, garam masala, shallot, and garlic. Go to Recipe Homemade Italian Dressing This zesty dressing beats out any store-bought version, and it makes a perfect marinade for flank steak or roasted vegetables! There is acidity from white wine vinegar, richness from olive oil, savoriness from herbs, a touch of sweetness from sugar, and a hint of umami from Parmesan. Go to Recipe Vietnamese-Inspired Blender Marinade This salty-sweet-sour marinade, which is directly inspired by the Vietnamese sauce nuoc cham, is perfect for grilled or roasted chicken. Go to Recipe Lemon Vinaigrette This citrusy vinaigrette takes less than 10 minutes to make and you may already have all of the ingredients you need on hand. It has a bright and fresh flavor that you can't get in a bottled salad dressing. Plus, it makes a great marinade. Go to Recipe Easy Garlic & Herb Marinade With just the right balance of tart lemon and pungent garlic, this is a bold-flavored marinade that's versatile enough to pair with anything you're cooking (whether it's grilled chicken breasts or grilled chicken thighs), and it comes together in mere minutes. Go to Recipe Christine's House Dressing This versatile vinaigrette, inspired by Caesar dressing, is packed with anchovy, garlic, and lemon. Use it as a marinade for chicken breast or grilled fish. Go to Recipe Miso Lime Vinaigrette Miso is the star of the show here. White miso is mild in flavor compared to other types of miso, which makes it perfect for a marinade base. Its subtle sweetness complements the acidity of the rice vinegar and enhances the overall vinaigrette with its umami flavor. Go to Recipe Korean BBQ Marinade This sweet and salty marinade is perfect for grilled chicken, but it can also be used on beef short ribs, extra-firm tofu, or even vegetables.
