'The selfless dedication and tireless resilience exhibited by the first responders in response to combatting the L.A. wildfires has been nothing short of extraordinary and we are very grateful to these unsung heroes for their courage during this difficult time,' Scott Strobl, executive vp and general manager, Universal Studios Hollywood, said in a statement on Friday.
'When these first responders are ready for a much needed break, we look forward to welcoming them to our theme park.' National Guard members, paramedics, emergency medical technicians and other first responders can secure the complimentary and discounted tickets in person at the Universal Studios theme park's 'First Responder Heroes Ticket' ticket booth at the front gate entrance on the same day of a visit.
No online redemption is available and first responders will need to show a valid government-issued photo ID and a valid employee ID card. The free ticket offer is not available to retired and volunteer first responders.
The LA wildfires started in in Pacific Palisades, before spreading to parts of Malibu and Santa Monica, and then further afield to the Altadena-Pasadena area and elsewhere. The city-wide blazes have destroyed thousands of homes and buildings, requiring around-the-clock efforts by fire fighters, police officers and other first responders.

Sydney Sweeney's new movie ‘Americana' bombs at box office

Sydney Sweeney's new movie took a tumble at the box office in the wake of backlash stemming from the actress's recent ad campaign with retailer American Eagle. 'Americana,' which Sweeney stars in alongside Paul Walter Hauser and Halsey, opened to an estimated $500,000 at the box office after debuting in 1,100 nationwide, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In comparison, current blockbusters 'Weapons,' 'Freakier Friday' and 'Nobody 2' recently reeled in an estimated $25 million, $14.5 million and $9.3 million, respectively. The 'Euphoria' star came under fire last month after her new ad campaign, 'Sydney Has Great Jeans,' a play on 'good genes,' debuted for the popular clothing retailer. Some criticized the jeans campaign, featuring the blond-haired, blue-eyed actress, as having racist undertones. 'Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color,' Sweeney says in one video. 'My jeans are blue.' President Trump eventually waded into the discourse in defense of Sweeney. 'Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the 'HOTTEST' ad out there. It's for American Eagle, and the jeans are 'flying off the shelves.' Go get 'em Sydney!' Trump said in a Truth Social post. Did Sweeney's controversial ads play a role in the film's less-than-stellar opening? Deadline notes that while it may have had an impact, the film was never projected to be a major blockbuster hit and is still expected to be profitable for Lionsgate.

Ex FBI director James Comey makes bizarre confession about Taylor Swift and President Trump in rambling video

Former FBI Director James Comey is trying to shake it off. Comey revealed in a bizarre video Sunday that he has a new coping mechanism to deal with the bad blood he has with President Trump: listening to pop icon Taylor Swift and trying to follow her wisdom. The self-styled 'Swiftie,' explained that he's struggled with the antics of Democrats like California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), who punch back hard at Trump, and concluded that he likes Swift's softer approach better. Advertisement Former FBI director James Comey said he listens to Taylor Swift to help him deal with President Donald Trump. 'While our elderly makeup-covered president is posting about whether Taylor Swift is still hot and declaring that he can't stand her, what's she doing?' Comey reflected in a video on his Substack. Taylor Swift appears on boyfriend Travis Kelce's 'New Heights' podcast. New Heights Podcast Advertisement 'Living her best life, producing great music and as she urged all of us to do during the podcast, not giving the jerks power over her mind,' he said, referring to Swift's appearance on the 'New Heights' podcast with the Kelce brothers. 'She said something about dealing with internet trolls that stuck with me — think of your energy as if it's expensive.' This is a breaking story. Please check back for updates.

Taylor Swift's 'Sourdough' Comments Have Fans Convinced She's Playing the Super Bowl Halftime Show: Here's Why

Swifties have connected the pop star's favorite bread to a certain mascot — and a potential performance at Super Bowl LX NEED TO KNOW Taylor Swift's latest talk of sourdough has fans making connections to a potential Super Bowl Halftime Show performance The fan theories involve San Francisco 49ers mascot Sourdough Sam, the number 60 and a specific date on the pop star's Eras Tour Recent halftime show performers have included Kendrick Lamar, Usher, Rihanna, Dr. Dre and The Weeknd Taylor Swift is certainly cooking something up — and fans think it might be more than sourdough. After the pop superstar announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, and discussed her new 'obsession" with baking sourdough on boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast this week, Swifties began to wonder if her latest hobby reveal had a little more meaning behind it. Specifically, some are making the connection to the Super Bowl Halftime Show. During the podcast appearance, Swift, 35, revealed that sourdough has "taken over my life in a huge way," and she admitted to thinking about bread "60% of the time now." 'I'm just, like, always baking bread and texting my friends and being like, 'Can I send you some bread? I need some feedback. Do you like this one better than you liked the other one? Like, I did the rise a little differently,' Swift said. As viewers have since pointed out, Super Bowl LX will be taking place at the San Francisco 49ers' Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. The team's mascot is none other than Sourdough Sam, a gold miner who shares a name with Swift's favorite new treat. As for the significance of the "60%," fans have suggested it could be a nod to Super Bowl LX itself, the 60th such NFL event. At the beginning of Swift's New Heights appearance, which premiered on Wednesday, Aug. 13, the singer also thanked Jason, 37, for "screaming for, like, 47 seconds." Sleuthing Swifties have since pondered if the number 47 "could be a connection" to Swift's 47th Eras Tour stop, which took place at Levi's Stadium. Swift played in Santa Clara on July 28 and July 29 in 2023, with her 47th date of the tour falling on the latter evening. The halftime performer for Super Bowl LX has yet to be announced. Super Bowl LIX's halftime performer, Kendrick Lamar, was announced back in September 2024 — five months before he took the stage on Feb. 9. Other performers in recent years have included Usher, Rihanna, Dr. Dre and The Weeknd, to name a few. As for what fans can definitively expect from Swift in the coming months, the 14-time Grammy winner announced on New Heights that her next LP arrives on Oct. 3. The Life of a Showgirl features 12 tracks, a few alternative covers and a collaboration with friend and former Eras Tour opener, Sabrina Carpenter. For the production end of things, Swift tapped Max Martin and Shellback on the latest album. Martin, 54, is known for his work with not only Swift ("Blank Space"), but also Adele, Britney Spears, Katy Perry and other major pop acts. "It meant the world to me to have this creative experience where we knew we had to bring the best ideas we've ever had," she said of working with Martin on New Heights. "I also know the pressure I'm putting on this record by saying that, but I don't care because I love it that much." Read the original article on People
