American golfer marks Open exit in most Irish way possible but causes anger

American golfer Michael Kim drowned his sorrows with a can of Guinness after missing the cut at the Open Championship, but caused anger in doing so. Kim, who is known for giving a good insight into the tour through his X profile, shared a photo on social media with a can of Guinness. But social media users were not so pleased to see that he was drinking the famous stout directly from the can. Posting on X, he said: "Wish it could've been a celebratory beer but what can ya do…." Kim's followers sent their well-wishes and commiserations after missing the cut, but he was also informed of the Guinness drinking etiquette. "You still have time to delete this - oh, boy! (never drink it from the can)((and if you're still in Ireland, oh, boy, never have a can of Guinness - get it fresh!)" teased on follower. "Enjoy several, just please consume Guinness responsibly i.e in a glass," joked another. "POUR IT INTO A GLASS! They will kick you out of Ireland and rightfully so for such an atrocity," jested another. Kim missed the cut by four shots, as he posted a four-over-par score over two days, while local hopes are on Rory McIlroy to win the Claret Jug. Irish golfers Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke, and Tom McKibbin, while a harsh two-stroke penalty saw Shane Lowry drop to eight shots behind leader Scottie Scheffler. McIlroy is in a tie for 12th at three-under-par and will be hoping to make a run on Saturday after misfiring off the tee the first two days at Royal Portrush. The Masters Champion has his work cut out if he is to chase down world number one Scottie Scheffler, who currently sits at 10-under-par and one shot clear of Matt Fitzpatrick. Meanwhile, 2023 Open Champion Brian Harman is tied with Haotong Li at eight-under-par.
